How does Glitter Tale's custom design service exactly work? Has anyone already used this before?

My shoulders are too wide for brand blouses and Taobao is not really pleasing my taste either in a lot of cases where the blouse could technically fit me, which is why I'm very intrigued by this service.

So if I show them a picture of a generic longsleeved brand blouse and say I want something that has the same design and features, but adjusted to my size, that would be just as fine? Is the pricing higher or within the range of their other similar products?
>>
>>10248976
if it think your shoulders are too wide, but you are within the waist and bust measurements, the shoulder width fits you too. Japanese brands just have a weird way of measuring shoulder width.

I noticed items from MAMs plus size line are longer in the front than the back. The reason for this is for girls with big boobs/stomach, it will help the hem line lay proper and not appear to be riding up. Unfortunately for myself it doesnt help bc im pear shaped hahaha. But I like the thought

I first asked how the sizing is. I already know my measurements, Idk why you need to know them so badly since I'm not asking about a specific item. I guess to get a general idea of BPN sizing I could look at every single item on lolibrary until I find one for men that actually has complete measurements listed but desu I don't think lolibrary is very trustworthy.
>>
>>10249838
Don't bother, there are no measurements for sleeve length or shoulder width on lolibrary. You're better off looking into brands that are still in business since they are usually very helpful about answering questions like that.

>>

There isn't.
>>
>>10249819
Iirc don't all the Japanese brands use in-house production methods? Like I feel like I remember a documentary about BTSSB that had interviews with the seamstresses & it's an exclusive factory that's owned and operated by the brand, they don't ship off their designs to other manufacturers unless they need fabric made for a print.
>>
>>10249940
Well, that's discouraging. Guess I'll try to find some artbook scans and download what I can from twitter.
>>
>>10249914
There's not a comprehensive gallery online afaik but I would suggest looking at some of the 4chan archive websites. You can probably find more than one art thread dedicated to her in there.
>>
>>10249942
A while ago there were people on cgl saying some of their AP things are made in Myanmar. Afaik AP is the only Japanese lolita brand that outsourced to such far away/questionable places. Other "big" brands like Baby sometimes have things made in China but also still have things made in Japan.

I'm on the fence about buying a solid OP directly from AP Paris, but the acting more like a fast fashion brand than any other Japanese lolita brand is making me not want to. I'm still wondering how true it is that they are made in Myanmar.
>>
>>10249954
AP still has things made in Japan too.
>>
>>10249954
same, i really get fast Fashion vibes from this :(

btw my Holy Lantern (last years mto) says 'made in philippines'
>>
>>10249955
Which things? Nonetheless, they are releasing a lot more often than necessary
>>
>>10249954
I know this is the case in the fashion industry generally, but most items for clothing is sourced through a variety of places. You can get your thread in one country, the fabric in another, it can be sewn in yet another country. The country in question could be the sewing, or it could be the source of the fabric. I don't know how AP and lolita fashion brands in general rate on this scale since it's such a niche fashion.

Whereas this information can easily be tracked with larger fashion houses as well as fast fashion companies like H&M, Forever 21 etc.

I don't really expect lolita fashion to take on all full sustainability practices, as they're not creating garments for the everyday population, but for specific people, and not even all of the people who wear their items wear it as daily wear, rather special occasions or the occasional outing. So I imagine somewhere in the chain from design, material sourcing and production, some costs have to be cut somewhere in order to ensure that releases are constant and the brand stays relevant. Which is why a lot of other brands have been falling to the wayside in recent years, even as Taobao has become so accessible with a variety of decent items. Oh, and there's second-hand sales to consider in there too. When your consumer base has x amount of dollars to spend in a month on the fashion. They may go second-hand, or they may buy directly. (Also plays a factor in our re-releases)
>>
>>10249963
I forgot to mention, the "Made in Tag" can apply to any part of the production process, not just the actual construction of the garment where all the pieces come together.
>>
>>10249963
I work in the fashion industry but thanks I guess you're just trying to help. I just want to know where most of APs solids are made nowadays, not where their buttons are made since we have no way to find out.
>>
>>10249938
Hoop skirts work well, you pretty much get the same shape. It's a different feeling to wearing a petticoat - closer to having a solid mass swinging around your waist than a series of skirts, but really its fine and still pretty fluid.

You will still need to wear a petti though. It doesn't need to have volume, just needs to prevent the hoop lines from being visible on the skirt, and if you wear the fashion often/daily, they're important to prevent damage from the hoops & skirt rubbing together.
>>

what is the likelyhood of bodyline have the same thing in store as on their website?
>>
>>10250658
very high. the physical store is well stocked
>>
>>10249838
Lolibrarians just copy the measurements from the website when the brand lists them on the product page. I'm not sure how that equates to untrustworthy.
>>
>>10249819
From my closet sampling of my blouses and cutsews, 24 were made in Japan and 5 were made in China. Cutsews are always made in Japan including one from this year's summer collection. The blouses made in China always have a lace overlay or are from a lucky pack. The newest blouse I have from this year is still made in Japan.

The dresses really vary so you'll have to check with an ss or ask AP about specific ones.
>>
>>10250658
Definitely a good likelihood. But their in-store prices are higher because they do a bunch of online sales that don't apply to the physical location.
>>
>>10250662
>>10250702
ohh thank you!
>>
>>10250692
Nayrt but they sometimes list the wrong ones very obviously. Idk if they copied it wrong or if it got mixed up when they started to "improve" the website like how some items have the wrong pictures. Anyway that guy didn't need to bother because they hardly have any measurements for BPN for men. Certainly not shoulder width or sleeve length which is what he needs to know.

>are there people who actually like blue/special set blue colorways in CDC or those are rather an options for navy one

The three of them are actually different undertones that don't work well together. Navy (kon) is the current standard "navy" that's going around with almost every burando's navy being tuned to this particular shade of "navy". "Blue" (ao) actually has a purplish/pinkish undertone, it's a touch too bright and saturated to really play well with the "navy". Then cerulean (special set) has a greenish kind of undertone and actually lacks the lavender highlights from the other two colours, so it doesn't work well with the other two colourways either. If you're getting a set, I'd say stick precisely to the exact colourway -- either that or strongly filter your pics so the different colourways don't look so different.

I always figured they released ao for those people who are tired of the same old navy, but it worked out very well because my friend and I have different skintones. I do fine with navy, 1/3 of my wardrobe is that colourway (I suspect this is why navy is the most popular, as you can easily mix it with other releases). My friend does much better with lighter colourways so cerulean works much better for her. Blue makes us both look like demons, but there's probably someone out there with skintone that can pull it off, going by how popular it is anyhow.
>>
>>10250181
or, get a hoop that has a thin slip built over it already. I wear hoops all the time and never have an issue with it showing through my dresses (though its more of a problem if you wear unlined dresses, but why are you wearing something that cheap to begin with). You shouldnt have to wear a petticoat over the hoop, it sort of defeats the purpose
>>
How often does Atelier Boz add new stock?
>>
>>10250828
thats why i said 'it doesnt have to have volume'. i shouldve been clearer, but I just meant there needs to be another piece of fabric between the hoops & the outer skirt. generally i would refer to this 'slip' layer as also a petticoat.
>>
>>10250738
About half are blouses and the others cutsews. I like them because I find them more comfortable than blouses. Especially lately when they've been making blouses in polyester.

What is the best way to fully wash an Usakumya? I got by with spot cleaning for years, but I got sick due to dizziness today and some of it got on my usa, and I want to just fully wash her. It’s not a lot but I’m not gross so I want to wash all of her and not risk puke particles clinging to her.
>>
>>10250877
Fill a basin with tepid water and half a cup of gentle cleanser. Immerse the usakumya and gently rub the spots that need to be cleaned the most.

Rinse but running it under tepid water, and be sure to do so thoroughly to get any soap residue off!

Dry by patting between towels. Ovoid wringing it at all, so you may use several just to get the initial water out

Let it lay out on a towel to dry. Enjoy your clean vomit-free usa
>>
>>10250877
The same way you would wash another plush. First spot clean the visible vomit. Then remove all extra bits like straps etc, put into a white pillowcase or laundry bag and put into the washing machine on the gentle cycle. When you take her out to air dry you will have to brush her fur a bit to make sure she is fluffy

Honestly I don't think there's any such thing as cucks in lolita. Lolita is about independence and being exquisite in dress, settling for mediocrity or wallowing in it like cuckoldery just isn't compatible with this fashion.

If you were to find a cuck it would have to be a brolita, the chance of finding a female cuck is almost zero in lolita i'm afraid, and if they exist they probably keep their bedroom business a close-guarded secret due to how shocking it would be.

How do you store your dresses if they are kinda heavy and have elastic shirring in the back?

I just got my second dress and while it may just be secondhand chinese, I love it. It’s tea length though and kind of heavy thanks to a full cotton lining.
>>
>>10251920
You can fold it over the hanger if you are opposed to hanging it normally via the straps. Back shirring only really gets ruined stretching it horizontally, not from hanging.
>>
I'm a fat fucking cunt and I'm having trouble finding clothes in my size.
I'm trying to put together a costume for Himiko Toga from BNHA. Since (as expected) no one has any premade costumes for thicc bitches such as myself, I decided it might be a bit easier to piece together regular ass clothes, since toga has a regular ass outfit anyways.
What I need
>beige/tan button up sweater
>sailor outfit shouldar/collar thing
>navy blue pleated skirt
Any tips on how to find this shit in my size? I looked on amazon but most of the skirts I'm seeing don't even come close to my thiccness.
Some info
>5'10"
>250 pounds
Maybe its the McDonald's going to my brain, but with the tape measure I got 47" on the waist, but my jeans are all 42"
>>
>>10251923
Be careful if the straps are shirred though. They like to stretch when hung.
>>
>>10251949
Yeah, though they only mentioned shirring in the back.
>>
>>10251945
I'd strongly recommend losing some weight.
Not only does it help with finding clothes, it is also more healthy and more attractive.
>>
>>10251965
Yeah, I'm working on it. I'm down from 280 in May, and hopefully I'll be even lighter come my next planned con, but I'm trying to put the costume together now while I've still got time
>>
>>10251966
Good to hear.
About the sizes, I've made the experience that with unusual proportions and or sizes most size systems don't realy work all that well.
Since in your case it is fat, you may be able to squeeze some of it away to fit into smaller sizes.
In case of your jeans I assume that's what happens to some degree as well as manufacturers not labeling properly to not offend blue haired Tumblr-types.

So I ordered the Milkshake AP set a while back when it came out. 2 of the items were on backorder. I haven't received any of the items, not even those that were in stock. Do they wait for the items on backorder to come out before they ship them all together?

>tfw spent time and effort on getting down to a healthy and attractive weight
>19.5 BMI, happy with how I feel and look
>Joke's on you, turns out the smallest size in regular clothing stores is too big now and you have to either buy kids' clothes or get things altered

Losing weight is certainly a good decision, but saying it helps finding clothes that fit is a joke. Keep in mind I'm not even a midget or anything, I'm slightly below average height.

What would you suggest for a lolita-friendly but still warm coat? I'm used to your typical downfill parkas. Will wool suffice in the depths of a Canadian December?
>>

if youre looking for a cheap intro to lolita coats, bodyline has great ones that are cute, wool is perfect, fleece is good for layering if it is lined.

i live in the north as well. I find typically brand coats are fine for keeping me warm, and wearing a sweater rather than a blouse (like a turtle neck). I've owned two coats from angelic pretty and both were very warm, I'm getting one from baby soon and i think it should be okay. Any suggestions for doing the silver stuff for a Reinhard cosplay? I'm thinking of using cardboard reinforced by wire hanger (going to do the cape, too, so I don't want it to get deformed by that hanging over it), spray painting the base, and then something else for the lighter silver embellishments.

This has probably been gone through before, but can anyone who has owned both VW and Bodyline/Taobao RHS point out some quality differences? Considering upgrading to a pair of VWs but if the quality isn't worth 10x+ the cost of offbrands, I'm not sure.
>>
>>10252806
they are leather for one. they have wooden platforms. they will last a lot longer if you actually take care of them... heck, even if you don't.
>>
>>10252806
They are night and day but I returned my VW because I hated the ballerina straps, they weren't the right length no matter how I wrapped them. Velcro is a stupid design. The leather and wood were so much nicer than BLs foam and pleather, I just wish VW would release a strap design that stays up and is more adjustable

not sure if this is the right place to ask but is it considered a faux pas to haggle with an artist or dealer at a con?
>>
>>10253092
With an artist, yes, unless you're buying a ton of stuff. With a dealer, I think it depends, I've haggled with one of the weapon replica stand people before but they were already discounting stuff, it may be a faux pas with some others.
>>
>>10252837
>>10252806
Never owned the VW rhs, but I've had Bodyline and the Baby Victoire shoes and the Baby ones are another option. Not as expensive as VW, but they do have real wood. Although they're not real leather. And they don't have the annoying ballerina straps.

wanting to do FemLink for a first time cosplay. How would it look if I bought two of these -- one to actually wear and the other to cannibalize for fabric to make the hat? So they're matching shades of green. I'd get the sacrificial one in like XXXL for maximum fabric.

I'm poor but really if it's selling for 400 I don't see the big deal. I've bought pieces for 400 and then the market has dictated that the price drops, and I've bought pieces for 30 and the market says they're worth 150. It's really whatever.
>>
Most stupid question for this board but how do I avoid impulse purchases?
>>
>>10253768
This may not work quite as well with the nature of the secondhand market or releases that are gone within minutes, but one way to avoid impulse purchases is to give yourself a wait time. When you find a listing for what you want, bookmark it, then close the tab and wait some amount of time, a week is pretty good. Take that time to think about how the piece would fit with your wardrobe, what coords you can put together with what you have, and if this is really something you would wear regularly or if you just like it in a vacuum. After a week, if you're still thinking about it and you still want it, you can decide whether it's worth the price tag, or it wouldn't really work for you.
>>
>>10253776
I agree on the wait time. I actually usually give myself a year for really big purchases since I have to save for them (big like over $300). If I really am still pining after anything, lolita or otherwise after that long then I really need or want or could use it.
>>
>>10253761

It's close to Halloween and AP has only whipped out some nun looking bullshit for us to buy so lots of people are selling Halloween prints to quench the thirst secondhand.

Someone even listed a holy lantern *replica* probably to try to get in on the action which I didn't even realize LM allowed.

Anything sweet and spooky this time of year will likely go for higher than it normally would.

>>
>>10253768
Narrow your buying only to dream/priority items for some time. For me, my dream items almost never pop up secondhand so I'm able to keep focused on what I actually need. By the time they show up I'll have more than enough extra money saved.

I made some bows recently and sewed them onto hairties. It's kind of annoying making sure the bow is the correct side up, and it gets in the way a bit when tying the hairtie. I am thinking now it would have been more convenient to have the bow separate on a comb like this and tuck the comb into the hairtie after it has been tied. So I think this would be useful for braids.
>>
>>10247890

Does the fact that JSK versions of lots of sweet dresses go more quickly and are higher priced than OPS mean that the theory/rumor that most sweet lolitas are fatties nowadays is true? Or does everyone else on the secondhand Western Market just have cow titties like me and we are all competing to get dresses that minimize boob-loaf?

Depressing because most OPs and even higher waist JSKs sometimes cut off like in the middle-bottom of my chest...some dresses have adorable OP cuts with forgiving waist measurements but if you aren't pear shaped or just small in the chest you are fucked.

RIP my dreams of ever owning an OP that isn't some shitty weird tent from the neck down.

Are there any go-to suppliers for custom lace and embroidery products, mainly for home textiles (like pillow covers and tablecloths), where I could send in a 2D design and have it produced?
I'm looking both for quality stuff (to use myself and to gift to friends), ideally from Europe since I'm German, and for cheap and barely-not-toxic chinkshit that could be bulk-ordered and mass-produced. (The latter it might be better to ask the taobao and aliexpress generals, I suppose.)

How should I go about adding 1-2 inches to a blouse around the bust area? I am experienced at sewing.

Underarm gussets maybe? They'd have to be pretty big.

So I bought a tshirt from an artist at a con but the print is already crumbling away and the tshirt quality is not very good. How morally bad it is if I reprint the illustration with better quality transfer and tshirt for myself ( I will only do one )

This thread is more for lolita. Use the cosplay help thread.

Maybe next thread OP should put the usual reminder that cosplay questions go to the cosplay help thread because people seem to be asking cosplay stuff here a lot when previous thread OPs have stated this thread isn't for that?

I have chronically shitty thin hair and a longish face. My hair is a little shorter than shoulder length and I got a perm which helps it look a tad thicker, and I think I look alright with that length. My problem is, a bob cut doesn’t really cut it for some outfits and either the thinness of my hair or weird head shape is really obvious if I try to style it in any way. I prefer not to wear wigs as I live in a hot country and I also don’t like how unnatural they look, but if I have no hope otherwise I’ll take it. Anyone had similar problems and got any style suggestions that worked? Spefically for gothic or oldschool

Is there a lolita sales group just for Europe?

you really don't need long voluminous hair for gothic or old-school

How do I get the address of some one buying an item I'm selling on lacemarket without directly asking them?
Pic unrelated.

You go to your paypal profile and open up the invoice. As soon they pay the invoice you will be able to see the adress they left there. And that's the only adress that should matter during a transaction with paypal.

How do make sure the headpiece stays upright?
