I have to ask, did Sugar Sky do all that well? I wasn't paying attention, thought it bombed.

I mean there's gotta be a reason why they keep making designs like these. Or something.

This is such a disappointment. The art is actually beautiful and has an unusual animal for a print and a gorgeous planet. Why did they decide to make it so miniscule and turn in into a muddy ugly mess? What is it with AP this year? So many tiny all over prints.

It did well with chinese lolitas apparently. The release was a bloodbath that none of the western lolitas were expecting.

I bought a rare dress from lacemarket, only to be told she already sold it to someone else through Facebook. I cried for real.
>>
>>10233838
Give them negative feedback. They should have had the person on fb buy it on Lacemarket or deleted the listing once they started the sale.
>>
>>10233838
Bad feedback time. It's not like you can snipe something on Facebook.
>>
>>10233849
>>10233850
I will definitely give negative feedback but that doesn't change anything for me. I want that fucking dress.
>>
>>10233838 >>10233849
Agreed and I think, in general, it's better to avoid doing transactions exclusively through facebook. The "value" in LM, all negative issues aside, is that it's a very good record keeper that jells well with your paypal records.

>>10233807
I think this was suppose to launch around midnight but I guess it's early for some reason? I like that they did more then two colorways (looks like five for Fantasic Dolly?) for each re-release.
>>
>>10233852
I prefer to sell and buy through facebook actually. For some reason there are a lot less scalpers and no spamming from people like soapbox
>>
>>10233852

Someone once never ended up shipping my skirt and resold it through FB. Now I assume if people exclusively sell on there they have something to hide
>>
>>10233855
You can still buy and sell through Facebook, just provide links and tell buyers to purchase your listing.
>>
>>10233781
China gets all the best tea parties
>>
>>10233864
Yeah because the nouveau riche lolitas buy literally everything first hand from brands. China is a huge driver in the fashion as much as western lolitas hate it. I can’t stand them either because brands are becoming tackier to cater to them, but you have to recognize why they’re being pandered to this hard.
>>
>>10233859
That's an extreme reaction of you
>>
>>10233922
This. It boggles my mind that anons on here try to insist that brands are "focused on Japanese customers" and "making what Japanese lolitas want." There are more lolitas in China than Japan and all of the western countries combined, so duh they make up most of the influence and demand these days.
>>
>>10233922
>>10233926
I'm really curious now, though - how and when did it get this way? It's like there's just recently (~4-6 years ago) been a sudden boom in Chinese lolitas.
>>
>>10233838
People should stop listing things to both FB and Lacemarket. Just link your Lacemarket listing to FB if you need to. It is a rule that if you make a purchase, you can't back out of it, so it should be a rule that the seller can't back out of it either.
>>

did they mix up 'coord' with 'code'?
>>
>>10234099

It's a Japanese girl, so.

There used to be a website called coordisnap that Japanese girls uploaded their coords to, including lolita coords. That's why we still call them coords. The kana for coordisnap is コーデスナップ (ko-desunappu)

ko-desunappu gets shortened to ko-de, then to kode. Code.

Actually kinda normal to see it written that way for veteran Japanese lolitas because of the site's original name. It has nothing to do with coords vs cords mistake that western newbies make.

>>
>>10234565
Bottom right is cute but doesn’t fit AP’s aesthetic. It also looks like you bought it for 300 rmb from a random Taobao brand. Imo the whole point of buying burando is that you can buy something unique that fits with the aesthetic of the brand. Otherwise there’s no point in buying something so expensive when you could get it for cheaper.
>>
>>10234490
love the first top and bottom ones
actually i love the whole bottom row but wouldn't wear the other three myself
i do miss the old sweet border print AP stuff though
>>
>>10234491
This many times. When I look at drawings by Ms Lutra or Maki (not AP designer) I wonder why don’t they do some sweet stuff like it was before. Sure, they cater to more adult audience, but hey, look at Halloween Treats or Toy Doll Box, look at the rush around MTOs. People still appreciate some cute darling motifs, why did they stop doing those?
>>
>>10234564
Just wear "mature" pieces with it;
>DON'T wear a sailor blouse like the model; wear something with lace, maybe elbow or long sleeve and/puff sleeves that don't end too high on the arm (avoid a cap-sleeve length). >Make sure the neckline isn't scooped in any way and that it either has a lot of detail around the neck or a decorative collar.
>add an underskirt if you need to to get the hem to end at least below your knee. The extra visable layer will make it look more "complicated" and less "childish"
>wear tights or socks that end at or above the knee. Showing a bear leg with this print would lean it more towards fetish. Have fun with the leggwear in terms of color and print; try to avoid pure white.
>Shoes can be any Lolita shoe that would match, avoid any kind of "alice look" with white legwear and black shoes.
>Lastly, carry a top-handle purse. Top handle purses are old fashion and project a less childlike vibe.

Overall what I'm trying to say is that the best way not to look like ageplay is to make sure the dress's print is the most childish thing about your coord and then everything else should have a "not a little kid" look to it.
>>
>>10234665

>>10235531
I just go to the thrift stores and vintage stores consistently. Like, at least once or twice a month at the minimum. I often don't buy anything, but the frequency ups your changes for finding something good. It's handy to try it on in person, saves the disappointment of something coming in the mail and it not working out. Read up on laundry techniques also; the more you know about washing and treating fabric, the more likely you can tease a bit more life out of an old blouse. Sometimes the color might seem different because it's been literally collecting dust for a few decades and then you might wash it and find out it's a shade or two lighter.

I have owned several AtPie main pieces and countless accessories by pierrot and boz. Your comm is not really representative of the west.
BPN is my actual fav gothic brand of all time, but AtPie also makes amazing stuff. lightweight, pretty fabric choices and details, great comfort.
We can't tell you why your commmates don't wear these brands more. Maybe they only have their finger on the pulse of brands that are more talked about by release. I could see how Johnny-come-lately's wouldn't know much about these brands since the dissolution of GLB.

I honestly think it's because you can't get status out of these brands.
>>
>>10235743
I really like those brands, but, for me, it's easier to get MmM, for example. It's readily available on 2nd hand market (search on WW and CC, for example. My fav Boz pieces were never there) and has a nice resell value, so if I don't like it or feel like selling, it's very easy to go.
>>
>>10235743
Everyone I've seen wearing AtePie in my country have been classic lolitas
>>
>>10235743
I think it is an area thing, I have never seen a PD piece irl but I have seen many atelier Pierrot pieces, and own some. I don’t think you have a good sample size.

Boz admittedly is harder to get and has weird sizing but I think you can say most gothic Lolita’s own a Roland or two. There is like 2 Pierrot stuff everyone gets, the corset dress/skirt and the fully shirred dress. Miho is underrated but I think they don’t market here enough and aren’t doing anything to get the western market.Moitie is status though, so it is the top. But otherwise you need to look more carefully.
>>
>>10235743
People in my home comm mostly wear sweet (AP & Chinese brands) and are young. The brands you mentioned are more popular with my older lolita friends who I rarely see in person.

I love all of these brands but here are the problems I see for each one for their popularity:
Sheglit - relatively new brand (first few years of releases were bad, they just got their stride in the past 2 years), hard to get second hand, many items are not lolita enough for cof
Atelier Pierrot - half of the items are corset laced and hard to wear/hot, the other half are pajama like not so "lolita"
Atelier Boz - very cool, but very plain, also hard to obtain, sizing is not forgiving because no shirring
Miho Matsuda - more goth than lolita, sizing was quite small until they recently released L size

One major problem with frilly, fancy, goth as I'll call these is that you need heels or platform heels for them to look good, which restricts where and whom can wear the style.
>>
>>10235885
Gothic is much harder to wear OTT than other substyles, as well, so it's harder for a beginner lolita to justify an expensive purchase with a fairly simple design. Even AtePie's fanciest pieces are mostly decorated with ruffles, without the eye-catching prints or bright colors of sweet and classic OTT.
>>
>>10235906
Exactly why I wish there was more emphasis on the "cute" part of gothic lolita, instead of the
"gothic" part, because it's stagnated into every plain black dress.

We need more prints and lace and cute stuff in gothic, and not just "bittersweet"

No we don’t. Fuck off you larping sweetfag
>>
>>10235215
Didn't you have problems with blouses riding up as soon you raise your arms or taking away length from your sleeves?

I'm also a 42cm anon, and even with all the chinese stuff out there, it's hard to find decent blouses that fit well. Aside from that I never really bothered trying brand blouses since their sizes mostly stop around 37-38cm. Only exceptions are certain AtPie blouses with back shirring that have a standard shoulder width of 43cm. And I've also heard meta blouses are supposed to be fairly accomodating, although I lack further Information on that.
>>
>>10236112
I always wore tightlaced jsks so I don't remember having the riding up problem, all of my sleeves were like 3/4 sleeves but I did not mind. Most of my comm are 168 or taller/plus size so everyone walks around with too short sleeves
>>
>>10236049
Nayrt but I suppose I'd like more prints. Not cute stuff though, if I wanted cute I'd wear sweet.
>>
>>10236044
>>10236047

So for the first time ever I'm really digging the print but not the cuts.

Do people usually still buy the dresses if they like the print but not the cut? I'm not really sure if I want to give the dress a pass but I can't really picture myself in any of these.
>>
>>10236207
If I don't love the cuts but I want the print, I buy the skirt. It's the cheapest cut and I can usually match it with a bustier. I got a lot of bustiers through trades for some reason.
>>

I read the part where it says this is a re-release so it's not a product of "mew Moitie" but goddamn it's cheap looking... it literally looks like a party ring you could buy a 4 pack of for about 2 bucks.
>>
>>10236400
And... it's the price of a dress. wtf
>>
>>10236275
what makes you think these are replicas?
>>
>>10236413

>>
>>10236424
Why would you post a filter over pictures of stuff you're selling. That's a major red flag. Have you seen other listings? The ones that sell have clear listings and real pictures of ownership
>>
>>10236207
I hate the cuts too. The karami style cut is cut if you're short or thin enough. I know it has shirring but the bodice area would look really bad on a bigger chest. The bustle jsk isn't bad, I just don't like chiffon ruffles

The term “aomoji kei” has been around for a while. Aomoji kei refers to styles that are influenced by trends in Harajuku which are often documented in fashion mags. Think of the difference between magazines like KERA and Zipper vs. ViVi and CanCam. KERA and Zipper are mags that feature aomoji kei whereas the style in ViVi and CanCam is akamoji kei.
>>
>>10236566
PayPal fees are not that much. Check PayPal‘s website
>>
>>10236568
I know that. I just noticed people using that more often instead of tagging with lolita what is clearly a lolita coord. I myself have been using eglcommunity and told my family I wear EGL when asked about my style even though I don't wear goth. I think I might start using aomoji kei too.

Moitie jewllery has always sucked except for their lace and swarovski pieces. They still look cheap as fuck with their brand name on
>>
>>10236221

It's the high-waist with the lace-up on both sides that I don't dig, but it has just occurred to me that I could remove all of the lacing and layer my blouse/bustier over it. I might do that instead, thanks.

>>10236454

I like the plain karami cut, but it seems kind of mismatched with that floral print somewhat. Same thought on the bustle jsk, I really dislike the bottom ruffle and the two side bows somehow. Ah well.
>>
>>10236512

Doing God's work. Thanks anon.
>>
>>10236566
No they are not supposed to be that high. Also, isn't against Paypal's terms to charge fees? Aren't they the sellers responsibility? It's usually against the terms of most sales comms to charge fees afterwards. If this is an LM seller, report them to the mods.

It is one of their swarovski pieces. It says so in the post in this thread. Fans asked for this ring to be re-released because it doesn't pop up often. Moitie has released more expensive coffin rings in the past.

This reminds me of when nobody on cgl realised the Juliet OP was a re-release and complained it doesn't look like Moitie. You all only follow AP and don't know shit about other brands, so just be quiet and let us finally complete our collection in peace.
>>
>>10236759
It’s because none of these complainers actually know the brand. The original is on rakuten for around the same price. It’s actually silver so calling it cheap looking is laughable
>>
>>10236766
I guess for 23000 yen they think it should be made by princesses and for the blue coffin to be a massive gem too. Fast fashion and slavery ruined people's expectations of how much things cost.

>>
>>10236927
I almost bought the Moitie one too but I stopped myself by looking at all the cheap af dresses I could buy secondhand for the same amount of money. It's stupid though, I really don't need more dresses and I never found a Moitie cardigan secondhand.
>>
>>10236887
It also doesn't have a strong resale value, generally, so you should only buy it with the knowledge that you probably won't make nearly that much back if you resell in future.

Beyond that, it comes down to whether or not you think it's worth the money to you, personally. It can be a bit weird the first time you really splurge on clothing, but if you think the item is high-quality, if you're willing to put in the time/expense to take proper care of it, and you believe that it will make you happy to wear for a long time to come, then it may actually be a better investment than buying several cheaper items that don't bring you as much joy and will wear out more quickly.
>>
>>10236927
What do you think of your Moitie cardigan and how was the sizing? It doesn't have shoulder measurements listed, but I've tried on a Moitie cutsew and it was 1cm too small for me. Also, I wanted the cardigan in white, but I'd be too afraid to make it dirty.

Does anyone know if it'd be worth it to buy only a cardigan from IW to the US, or would the shipping be very high? I imagine people usually buy dresses to make the shipping worthwhile, but I prefer skirts, so I'd only be buying the bolero and a pair of socks.

>>10237031
Different anon - I had a seller charge me PayPal fees, but the way they did it was to say I could pay as Friends & Family or I could pay the extra fees if I chose Buying/Selling. Idk how to give feedback on that. Like, it was my choice... because I wanted purchase protection in case I get scammed.

>>10237723
No one in lolita fashion would edit their butt larger hun.
>>
>>10237723
I don't think she did, it's the angle + having one leg forward that make it look bigger. If you look at the thickness of her thighs it would be a pretty normal butt for the size of her legs, not like a bubble butt or even an aspirational butt by today's standards.

i dont think its edited. she disguises it well in a lot of photos but she has a very curvaceous figure

Does anyone know what the quality on this dress is like? It looks ok, but you can never be sure with taobao. I was considering getting it but I don't want a shit dress

there was a little discussion of it back in june that you can find on an archive site

Does Moss Märchen only sell at events or does she have an actual store somewhere? Her etsy has been closed since 2017 and I can't find any way to contact her on facebook or her instagram
>>
>>10237576
I have a bodyline dress with the same fabric used on the middle dress.
>>
what's the best place to get a pair of simple, plain, flat platform mary janes excluding taobao? It's surprisingly hard for me to find anything like this. I'd get RHS if I could find em...
>>
Do you think there will ever come a time when all dresses of a certain print/design will be owned by people who want to keep them forever and essentially become unobtainable?
>>
>>10238248
I can't find rhs on anything but taobao either, and I need to use paypal. :/

what happened to AP's lace game?
>>

About 45 for a brand one second hand
I wear cardigans a lot but I just can't justify buying them new when I know they will get fuzzy & worn anyways
>>
>>10238264
Cheap and lazy just like everything else they make now
>>
>>10238250

No, even they will die eventually and the dresses either end up in a landfill or at goodwill.

You should be more concerned the dresses nobody wants, ie- stained, bleached, worn out, or maybe just so unpopular it can't even be given away so the owner just throws it in the donation bin. Maybe some day enough of them will get donated to India and we'll see some orphan wearing AP while using btssb rags to clean their pots and pans.

One of my otome dream dresses is rare only because it’s old. The only times I’ve seen non-stock photos of it are in a couple of yja! listings and in one girl’s closet tour vlog. Ironically, she also says she was never able to fit into the dress in her vlog.
>>
>>10238300
TB still lives with her parents. Just wait till she has to move out and grow up.
>>
>>10238344
Nayrt but she owns my dream dress too and doesn't fit it lol. Can't wait for her moving sale.
>>

>>10238402
She seems like the type whose parents coddle her and she’ll never move out if she doesn’t have to desu. I know a girl who has a similar hoarding problem but with kpop and BL merch and part of it is that her parents coddle and enable her to build up huge collections and hoard because it’ll make it harder for her to move out. But she’s content with her living situation so whatever, I guess.

I really don't like this parenting fad that kids should be raised as cultureless genderless entities and parents should abstain from showing kids any sort of interest. It's not overbearing to expose a child to a hobby or interest. Kids are eager and exited to learn and see new things with their parents.

These memories are so sweet. I remember when I was a kid my mom was super put together with her makeup and jewels and chiffon blouses. As I grew older and the housing market burst my mom had to work two jobs and no longer could afford the luxuries to indulge herself and dress up.
You don't notice these things till you're older. My mom still doesn't dress up anymore but her bedroom is full of decades old makeup and unworn jewlery.

>>10238584
>full of whimsical princess attire I never got to have growing up
Parenting isn't about you. It's about your kid. Don't live vicariously through your kid.
>>
>>10238264
jesus christ, this literally looks like replica lace with the logo tacked on. i hate it
>>
>>10238584
No, it's not, you're looking to share an interest together.

My daughter is into girly clothing on and off. Before she cared about how I dressed I tried to dress her to match just a little bit. She went through a pants only phase and rejected every cute thing I bought her and even though it made me sad I just let it be. Now if I ever go out with lolita friends and take her with me, she will specifically ask if she can dress up and look like a princess. She likes to apply make-up with me too (I usually let her use a little blush and lip gloss). And we always say to each other, "now you're pretty with make-up" (because you were pretty to begin with, without makeup, lol).

Anyway, if she wants to you can make it happen! If not, we can't hold it against our kids.

Lolita sounds horribly impractical for children who just want to roam around and explore. It also attracts a lot of attention which might not be good for their development. Just get a doll.

Do you support any kind of content producer focused on Lolita Fashion? How would you feel if this person were using your money to buy brand instead of stepping up her content?

A certain youtuber who made bad resolution wardrobe videos of items she doesn't wear.

OK, just admit you don't know either. telling people to lurkmoar is ridiculous. I can't go back in time to be here when people were talking about it, and searching TB yields nothing or there wouldn't be a need to ask

Not familiar with this kind of stuff but wouldn't expanding their wardrobe contribute to more content? I assume their main focus would be showing off their cords.
>>
>>10238993
I'm assuming Tallulah Bee/girlonsunday who cgl has had a hateboner since LJ days. Has a lot of brand but not only never wears them but also has a terrible hoarding problem; her organizing lolita fashion video gives me anxiety

Can't she just lose some weight to fit into these dresses again?
>>
>>10239151
Why are you asking us?
>>
>>10239212
u ever heard of a rhetorical question or are u a literal autist
>>
>>10239151

Maybe that's why she's hanging on to them, there's always the choice of losing weight and then being able to fit into the dresses.

I'm kind of in a similar boat, didn't realise I'd been stress eating and had gained weight. Half my wardrobe is now smaller than I can fit into, but that half has all the JetJ, Mary Magdalene, Moitie skirts and a couple of AP chocolate dresses. I really don't want to sell that half of the wardrobe, so I'm going to try and lose weight to fit back into them.

Though, I feel like she's been hoarding them for a while, I'm not sure if she's even actually making an effort to lose weight at this point.

you could say that. ribbons completely obscure brand log embroidery on the rep. not cute and looks like ass.
>>
>>10239267
I feel this. A year of stress eating and not having time for lolita due to trying to full-time work and study for a postgrad diploma has meant that none of my old-school fits. Thankfully it's only about 20% of my wardrobe and a lot of the rest is Meta, but it hurts to know that wearing them is at least 3 months away if I'm losing inches and weight the healthy way.
