How much editing do you like to see in videos, or does it depend on the type of video? Cuts/multiple angles in dance covers - yay or nay? Would you rather see something with a lot of fun effects or something that just fixes up lighting and color? For live recorded performances, how can you improve the quality of (often shaky, recorded from the side, polluted with audience noise) video? Share any thoughts or ask your own related question!Featured: SiamDream
>>10177115I wish I was better at editing!! I have Openshot, but am too intimidated by it to use it, so I use plain old iMovie instead. I love MV style videos, with a story and cuts between the dance and the other shots. It’s hard to pull off, though. I also like what もりかな does with her videos, just little touches that make it seem magical. The one thing I don’t like is moving shots of the dance, it’s just way too much movement for me.
>>10177115I like cuts and multiple angles, but sometimes I like seeing the group dance straight-on, too. But I usually like straight-on dances when they're practice videos! I think dance practice videos are really cute.
So Flusay Girls are getting more members. Any thoughts?
>>10177115Speaking of video editing! What kind of editors do you guys recommended, any good free ones that don't destroy the quality?I use Filmora right now, but I do the cheat thing where I disconnect my internet so I don't have to pay for it,,
>>10177261If you're looking for a better video editor and don't mind paying a little money, Sony Vegas Pro 15 is on humblebundle for $25. It's normally a $400 product so it's a huge steal imo. The sale only lasts for like 10 more days though!
>>10177115OP picture gives me a good question. Which Asian country you think has the best idol/cover groups outside of Japan?
>>10177261I've been learning Davinci Resolve! I don't know enough about different editors to know if it's better or worse than others, but it's free and I'm learning a bunch of cool stuff on it.
>>10177248>thoughtsIf they add who I think they're adding good fucking luck
I'm making a song on my own using Mixcraft 8. My vocals are sounding like ass though. Any advice? I want this to be an official release, but not at this rate
how do we get more people interested in being idols
>>10177377work on your singing, practice daily. look up youtube videos on voice exercises, etc

>>10177375Who are you referring to?
>>10177375I’m in their discord and I don’t see anything wrong with the people auditioning
>>10177455NTAYRT but a certain someone who we can’t name here put them in her bio so I assume they mean her
>>10177473What’s wrong with this certain someone? I’ve seen both of the new members so far and I love their content
>>10177476Let's just not discuss it, god forbid the thread turns to chaos again.
>>10177476Personally I don’t have an issue with them and I’d be excited to see what they do in the group, just pointing out who anon was likely referring to
>>10177377What's the problem with the vocals? Is it an issue with your voice (too weak, too airy, sounds too close to the mic, off key, etc?) or a problem with how it's recorded and mixed (bad mic, no compression, background noise, etc)?
>>10177522I just wanted people’s thoughts. The new members look so cute! I don’t understand why y’all are hating on one.
>>10177522To be honest people do change. So maybe this person will surprise you. I’d say give them a chance.
>>10177634This person was given so many chances and hasn't changed at all. She's hopeless but good to see cringy problematic people stick with their same kind.
>>10177658I don’t think she’s cringy. Flusay girls are a pretty decent group and if she was that bad they wouldn’t have picked her. So instead of defining a person by their past look into their future. They may surprise you.
Just saying, we shouldn’t discuss her. It’s not worth the derailing and drama risk. It’s stupid and we all know. Let’s try to keep our thread up.
>>10177696Yup, I fully agree. I think she's actually shown improvement in her talents recently, and I wish her the best, but there have been like three threads deleted because her followers come here and shit up the thread whenever she is brought up. So let's ignore her. Anyway, Melancholiaah has been posting pictures to lead up to her performance this weekend and I really like them. The eye collar on this dress is neat, and the pictures are nicely composed. I like the eerie, artistic quality in the stuff she does.
Astreal's debut live is in their story! I was really surprised they did it outside, I thought it'd be a masquerade thing like Stellure was doing. It's really pretty though!
>>10177573I have a Logitech mic for now so it's picking up everything and zero compression.
>>10177387The exercises aren't the problem. The mic is just making my vocals sound worse since it's a shitty mic
>>10177702I feel like Melancholiaah and Squeeze are kinda similar, a collab would be cool. What collabs would you wanna see everyone? Julily and Alex Pinku already happened but I want more.
>>10177723>>10177724There isn't much you can do to mix bad quality audio into good quality, so I guess look into a good mic that fits your budget, or see if there's a cheap recording studio around you. Not sure what other advice to give here
>>10177382Exposure, a good image and accesible resources that we have to do legwork on because the press wont help promote idols for you
>>10177702I think we just need to wait and let things unfold. Who knows? Maybe flusay girls will help her to become better. I haven’t seen any drama with her recently so maybe she’s changed?
>>10177719I saw! They were super cute I really liked the choreography and dresses, certain things could definitely be improved but it was a really nice debut
Whats with all the asspatters and selfposterd? I know summer is just around the corner but jfc
>>10177719It was so cute and I was really impressed by the vocals, choreo, outfits, and even how the song went together. Although, I wonder if the lyrics were throwing shade at stellure,, It's about going through struggles and being reborn again w/o anyone holding you back. Huh...
>>10177824That's an extremely common topic, so maybe, maybe not. It was probably inspired by the situation at most.
>>10177719Honestly I forget her name but the girl with the mint image color seemed to be lagging behind a bit? It's a shame bc she, Polaris, and Tauri were always my faves.
>>10177876That's Luna! I noticed she was a little off at times too, but from what I know the other two live really close to each other and Luna lives a distance away, so I think the other two get the chance to practice together a lot more often. I still think they did a pretty decent job and look forward to seeing them improve in the future.
>>10177810Post better shit then
Would anyone be interested in collab stuff with a musician/producer?
>>10177907are you the producer? post your bangers.
>>10177766>the press wont help promote idols for youspeaking of which, what are the news sites for net idols?
>>10177907I would personally but it would depend on the quality. >>10177930Pure Idol Heart used to do some articles on overseas idol group if they asked. They’re used to be Offshore Idol (I don’t know if they’re still active).
>>10177733This was perfect. Didn't know you could rent a recording studio!
>>10177930I actually thought about starting a blog for net idols but I wasn’t sure what all I would post and what people would be interested in reading!
Does the Overseas Idol Collection actually ever update? I feel like there's a lot more "established" net idols and resources than what they've listed on their website. Do they just not care about it anymore?
>>10178198They haven't been checking or responding to applications in months desu. I applied in February, haven't heard back, and when I messaged one of the admins a month later they said they were busy and would get to it soon. I'm not really worried too much about it because I don't know how much exposure getting added to the database really gets you, but it is a bit disheartening.

>>10178210There on a hiatus. Some staff went silent or left so now its only the admins who already are too focused on the current con season to update. I feel bad since it seemed they had a lot of staff but many jobs fell on the admins.
>>10178210Wow that kinda sucks. I applied to be in the discord around the same time and haven't heard anything either. Personally don't think they should have started a project they had no intention on keeping up with.>>10178215>I've thought of doing the same, but I'd rather just help out with editing (and possibly writing) for one rather than start it all on my own. Meotashi's Instagram is back up! She's okay, just had to take a break. The anon that said she probably just deactivated to take a breather from the messages was on point.
>Cuts/multiple angles in dance covers - yay or nay? Yay, but within reason. It depends on the song, location, and of course how serious you are about being a net-idol.If the song is only 2 mins long or less, there's zero reason to have 8 different types of cuts/angels. It's simply jarring. If you have a song that is long, such as 4 mins in length, then cuts are a good way to keep the viewer from being bored. It helps makes the video interesting. If you're in an outside location where you add in weather, the background elements moving about (such as a ferris wheel or pedestrians) or a interesting locations (maybe a popup event that would make for a cool prop) than you don't need that many cuts. Perhaps a close up no more than 2 times. If you're in a dance room painted white than yeah it would be nice if you at least had cuts and cool angles.Quality expectation. If you're doing it for fun, then let it be fun. I'm not saying release mediocre shit just don't take it so seriously. Now, if you're an anon that wants to make a small name for yourself than quality matters. Learn what cuts to use and not use. Youtube and google is there. Actually studying your favorite idols using different cuts and why it worked (but let's be honest your favorite net idol def went to a professional to edit it, or a close friend who does that kind of thing). So are classes for filming for entertainment purposes. If all else fails then pay someone if you don't know anyone than can do a decent to amazing job.
sorry for all the grammar/spelling errors it's still too early in the morning
>>10177880Honestly I thought Luna was one of the most lacking in the dance department when she was in Stellure too, but I think her vocals make up for it and I have hopes that with astreal the other 2 can help her improve with that!
Now that the weekend is kinda over, anyone see any good performances at cons this weekend? There were a lot of them.
>>10177915It's me, I'm the producer, I more meant producer in the traditional studio production sense, but I really get that in this instance it would be electronic production stuff, which I can also do.>>10177955>>10178496For anyone interested, drop me an email (email@example.com) and tell me what you'd be interested in, I'll be happy to answer any questions and link samples etc.

>>10178646No one cares
>>10178827Plenty of people care, considering how she's potentially coming back as an idol soon
>>10178802Who all had shows this weekend? I only know of Mosuri’s two shows.
>>10179051there was a texas idol festival, momocon had lots of idol activity with danzo dash and peachy parade, anime north had their idol shows. There's proably more I'm missing.
>>10179083Dzd went to Animazement with Squeeze. Mosuri, Tambourine, Peachy Parade, and many other groups were at momo. Risa and Melancholiaah were at ctx. There’s probably even more I’m missing.
>>10179015You reek of Mimi or one of her close friends
>>10179145Christ, I don't even talk to Mimi. Just because someone doesn't hate her doesn't mean they have to know her.
>>10178646She said she got a therapist. I'm really relieved. I hope she can learn to take care of herself better so she doesn't take on so much. Actually, it's kind of a good thing that she's in Darling because in the vlogs they all make the costumes together, which wayyy didn't seem to be the case with Stellure.
>>10179145>>10179146Also, did you miss the last thread? People were discussing Mimi disappearing and her new idol concepts. Ctrl f Mimi faggot.
did it really cost interlunium 15 grand to produce their second song?
I'm having real trouble finding a Cutie Panther lyric video for my group - does anyone have a link to one that's not an alternate mix of the song?
>>10179267Why do you need a lyric video for your group?>>10179260They claimed it’s for paying everyone (all the members, including Koreans, and staff) for this song and their last song.
>>10179316To be better at lip syncing as we dance.
>>10179355What I normally do is just find color coded lyrics. It's a lot more reliable than lyric videos, and i say this as someone that makes lyric videos.
>>10179260That sounds about right for a song with a music video if you hired professionals, which they do. It’s not a crazy number. Music is still music no matter what genre it is. The same amount of work and people to bring a song to life (as professionals) is still applied. So everyone in the studio to produced and push the song out there needs to get paid. Which even for the cheapest songs done by high end studios there’s at least 20-30 people working on it.
>>10179355Like what >>10179367 said, just find lyrics and listen to the MP3. Learn and mouth the words. A lyric video isn’t going to help you much to help with lip syncing. >>10179399And don’t forget they actually only asked for $10,500. So they raised more than they asked for. Pic related.
10k is still alot. that is for a title track with a music video though. how much is it for one of the side tracks? i imagine music videos cost alot.
>>10178802I just came from Canada, and Pastel was really really good! There were some technical issues but the girls rocked through them! They were the gold standard of "net idol" in that their covers are good, their singing is good (not Watsuda good to compare to the pro idol group that came over, but 95% of US net idols would be blown out), and they had really good stage presence and good dancing, they are clearly practiced but you can tell they aren't full pros.
>>10179504Is there video?
>>10179119Wow that is a lot, does anyone have any footage yet?
>>10179504Pastel is pretty great for a cover group. I'm a Toronto local and I tend to be at most of their shows. Definitely the best Toronto has to offer in terms of net idol/cover groups. Their setlists are always really great.
>>10179521There’s a livestream up on the TIF Facebook, but it’s not the best quality
>>10179521I saw clips of dzd at animazement but none of squeeze. Also saw all of them walking around the con a lot (small con). There doesn’t seem to be any full videos yet. Are there any from Momo? I regret not going.
Hi all,I was wondering if any anon in the SoCal area wants to form an idol group with me? Here's the fonts, the beginning of a logo and sketch of my idolsona. I went into it just thinking I'd do it solo (which if nobody is interested I'll just continue with that route) but I'd love so find someone to dance with. I'm really just looking for one person but I wouldn't mind being a group of 3. If you're interested reply with a throwaway email or discord for me to contact you please! If you have any question I can answer them too. The main type of person I'm looking for is someone 18 years or older. A plus would be having some kind of skill to bring into the group so we don't have to outsource as much.
>>10180220I don't live in socal, but I absolutely love your logo design! Did you do it yourself?
>>10180220Aw man, I wish I was closer anon! I'll be rooting for you!
>>10180220>>10180220 I’m very interested! What part of SoCal is this going to be based in?
>>10178802Aquaria and Amuse did some lives over the weekend!
>>10180244Aww, that's unfortunate but I really hope your net idol journey goes well! I found a generic girly font from a free site (I was too lazy to do it from scratch) and then I modified it. It means a lot you like it, I honestly was going to wake up today and do 3 more interpretations but maybe I'll just stick with this one.>>10180246Thank you so much anon! That sweet of you, I'll root for you too!>>10180255Oh this is exciting I didn't expect to find anyone interested so soon. I'm in the Los Angeles County Area. Where are you anon?
>>10180220This is cute and I'd love to see more beachy California idols but can we stop with the roleplaying "idolsona" stuff?
>>10180621I agree. It’s only fitting for things like Love Live or Interlunium where there’s a story or plot involved. Otherwise it’s just an OC and doesn’t make much sense to me.
>>10180641It's one thing to craft a stage image/personality, which anyone who is serious about having stage and net presence should be doing anyway, and what real performers do. But calling it an idolsona and treating it like a whole different character that you're pretending to be is more like roleplaying than actually performing. It's a huge pet peeve of mine even though the two concepts are really similar.
>>10180621Yay! I'm excited to meet other California idols! I hope all is well with you! It's just an anime character of myself friend, it actually not some "she's a kitsune that's in highschool that has to sing to live uwu". I'm a professional illustrator, and just simply drawing art for idol group. I figure calling it an idolsona was just an umbrella term.
>>10180530I'm located in Orange County, but I study in San Diego during the school year. Seems like I'm just barely out of your zone, but if you're ever in the area or need help on other things like art or mixing or editing MVs, I'm more than happy to help!
>>10179764>>10179119when we talk about Squeeze, It made me wants to ask, what net idols that we know are LGBT? Its my fav parts about this comm, since it’s a unique thing only it can have vs professional idols not being able to say they are. Diversity is cool to me. What do you feel about LGBT net idols being open about it? What idols do you know are openly LGBT? Should they put out stuff for pride month?
>>10180800Probably way more than you realize; it's just that a lot of idols, professional or net, don't put their romantic status and affiliation out there. But since there's a huge overlap between this hobby and the anime community and the anime community is super gay, there's a ton of net idols who are LGBT. I'm not gonna out anyone who doesn't already openly talk about it, but if you hang around the various discords or have many idols added on social media, lots of people talk about being LGBT.
>>10178802I saw an idol showcase at Momocon and some of them were kind of eh but the girls at the end (I think they went by Tambourine) were sooo much fun to watch! They had so much energy! There was also another group I think they went by Mystic Wish and they were really organized and actually sang which was pretty awesome.
https://youtu.be/Ry_9XP-Y6AQ Anyone else watched this? I'm impressed, they're quite in synch!
>>10180800Personally I love it when idols show their pride, but that’s probably just because pride is very important to me personally

How can dancers be considered idols if all they do is dance and not sing AND dance? This isn’t intended to be a rude question I’m just asking out of curiosity.
>>10181711Lots of people rightfully won't consider them idols if they're not singing. Unfortunately it seems like a lost cause to try and police the word "idol" since half the people who use it are just Love Live cosplayers or online idolsona/card editing groups anyway. There shouldn't be any shame in just sticking to dance and calling yourself an odottemita if you don't sing.
Legacy has released a CM for their debut song. It sounds really nice. https://youtu.be/cRERQ-Qbt-0
>>10181711I would much rather see someone dance and not be the best at singing, but still try, rather than just never do any singing at all. And vice versa too! They’re both important parts of being an idol and even if they’re not the best at one yet, I think they should still try rather than just make excuses. Otherwise you’re just a dance coverist, or just a singer.
>>10181942I agree! I wish more people felt this way the expectations for idols in the West seem to lean towards being good at both right away. few people seem to enjoy the progress/improvement aspect of supporting idols in the west
>>10181949>>10181942>>10181796Thanks for your input. I personally don’t want plan on doing anything singing-related at all (I’m absolutely horrible at it) and solely intend on doing things as a dance coverist/performer with a concept. I just thought it was interesting how “idol” groups and dance groups sometimes seem to coexist at “idol showcases” and such.
>>10181966I believe they coexist because there’s no clear line right now. We don’t have enough of a community to define what an idol is. Is it anime? Is it not? Cosplaying is idol? Yes? No? If there was a larger community of groups doing vocal and dance covers as themselves, I think it’d be different.
>>10181942I honestly wanna thank you for writing this because it gave me a lot of hope that I can be an idol, too. My dancing is vastly better than my singing but I've been really trying to work hard on my singing a lot lately, and making little progress in comparison to better singers in this community really has me feeling a bit lost and out of place here. I feel like I'm such a baby cause if I did post vocal covers at my current capabilities I wouldn't be very well received in threads like these but after reading this I'm still willing to try it even if I'm not that good. I do wanna take this a little more seriously cause even if this is just a hobby for me it's something I really love.tldr thank you so much you kind soul you've really reinvigorated me ;_;
>>10181361So so sad... I think Aquaria also has the riko stepping down?? Not sure whats next..
>>10181949It’s because that’s how our pop and broadway stars come onto the scene. Trained and practically perfect

>>10181833Oh hell yes, how am I just hearing of this group for the first time? I don't really mind virtual groups if they're good and put out real music, and this has a lot of cheeriness to it.

>>10182061i was in the crowd and their riko had this look of disappointment as they gave chika, hanamaru and yoshiko bouquets on stage. seriously they could have given her one as well.
>>10182179PhEri is weird for me. They both can sing very well, but they just don't mesh well together vocally, even when they're trying to harmonize.
>>10180793Different anon but I'm located in OC! I've been wanting to get back into doing dance covers so this might be a good chance.
>>10180220What are the names of the fonts you used? It's super cute! Good luck with your idol dreams!
>>10182035Aw I’m really glad I could help someone, especially on here of all places! You should definitely go for it, people on here won’t really be “mean” unless you make excuses for yourself, so I know it’s scary but it’s definitely worth it! I was kind of nervous when I first got shown that I’d been mentioned here but when I read through I actually found the critiques really helpful!(And then I stayed because it’s just kind of nice to have somewhere to discuss our little community haha)
>>10182365Tbh I’m glad we don’t realky discuss drama here anymore. I just wanna talk about idols and their newest stuff. So I know someone who tried time and time again to make an idol panel but cons didn’t see it as relevant. What are your thoughts?
>>10182240Hey, I'm also waiting for a response from Kira Kiss anon, if you wanna chat about it or other possible projects, please shoot me a message! justtemp#6830
>>10182179Not this anon, but here’s the livestream from CTX’s idol festivalhttps://www facebook com/TexasIdolFestival/videos/3348770311815311?s=100030256174064&v=e&sfns=mo
>>10182506I personally don't really like panels that are just about the group hosting it since it feels like a circle jerk if that makes any sense? Like I went to a panel for the LL group 9BPM and most of the panel was just them doing a Q and A and have quiz games about fun facts about themselves. Wasn't really my thing but a lot of people attended. I'd prefer if groups hosted panels where they did a live or something about idols in general.
>>10182506I really think that sort of thing depends on the con, but also how you structure your panel and present yourself. Some cons will straight up deny any dance or idol panel (looking at you, Youmacon...), and others have to pick and choose if they get a ton of dance/idol panels when everyone applies for their own group. I think a lot of people are pushing towards condensing all those individual panels into big idol/dance festivals, with the goal of bringing together the community, and those can be accepted if you present yourself well in the application. If someone is consistently getting denied, it's because they're either applying to the wrong cons, their group/them as a soloist isn't good enough or established enough, or they're presenting themselves wrong. It's pretty easy to read a panel app and see if the person applying is only applying so their group can get more attention/fans rather than with the intent of putting on a good show and actually contributing to the convention's programming.
>>10182510Just sent a request !
>>10182529So why do certain cons hate idol panels?
>>10182510Hi again,I apologize my temp discord account was disabled due to using a throwaway email. I just clicked the tab and I'm locked.I sent a request on my main! Sorry to the other anon I didn't talk to the other day I received a work assignment and didn't see a notice on my disabled discord tab. Leave a temp discord so we can reconnect!
>>10182605sage for requesting your discord again, it's saying the request didn't work
>>10182605justtemp#6830It's alright, I'm still very interested !
>>10182585Well I’m not sure. I know comiccons obviously don’t want it cuz it’s not relevant but anime cons shocked me.
>>10182585Honestly, beats me. I only referenced Youmacon there because I heard from a former staff member that the person in charge of panels absolutely hates idol and dance panels and refuses to accept them based on personal bias. I'm guessing there are similar situations with other cons, where they would rather see that as a main event with more professional idols, they see it as an attention grabbing panel that doesn't contribute to programming, or they just don't understand what sort of hobby this is.
>>10182585They probably don't see the connection to anime.
>>10182645nah, the same cons that deny idol panels also book tons of kpop panels
>>10180621Thank you! Idolsonas are cringe if it isn't a cosplay group and desu i don't consider groups with idolsonas as real idols. They're just weebs playing pretend for a bit until they get bored.
>>10182605You should remove the hearts from "ki" and "su" makes them look like "gi" and "zu" on first glance. Or move them to a different point
>>10181140Ah, I hadn't meant to drop my email again.Teaser for Michigan Idol Showcase @ JAFAX 2019 (Friday, June 7th, 9:00 PM)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QidsgJ09Avo>>10179504>>10179517PASTEL Toronto - Performances @ Anime North 2019https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKFIANomL78https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiOK21nZRLkhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwF-vhqTBQ0https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv3-6szyo40>>10181942>>10181949>I would much rather see someone dance and not be the best at singing, but still try, rather than just never do any singing at all. And vice versa too!>the expectations for idols in the West seem to lean towards being good at both right away. few people seem to enjoy the progress/improvement aspect of supporting idols in the westSeriously! Seeing people genuinely working hard to improve and grow is one of the best aspect of idols, and it's a shame how that's just kind of overlooked here in the West.
>>10182725>They're just weebs playing pretend for a bit until they get bored....I was under the impression that this was just a cute weeby hobby and not people seriously trying to get signed to labels/become famous. Re:idolsonas, i honestly don't give a flying fuck as long as the costumes look unified and not goodwill-tier and their dancing is on point.
>>10182585Youmacons programming head said herself that she personally does not like performance panels, and this includes sitting or dancing (even kpop). They'd tell you either to go to the rave, go to karaoke, or push you to participate in that God awful "youmacon idol" thing. Which is nothing like idols, it's like American idol but it's ran by some self absorbed train wreck
>>10182867>...I was under the impression that this was just a cute weeby hobby and not people seriously trying to get signed to labels/become famous. This!!Unless you're in a company or some shit, you're not technically a "real idol". Literally all of us are just weebs playing around lol
>>10182648Those probably are the worst as they probably only heard about the latest JIdol horror story of the month and it is the reason why they refuse JIdol panels because of those experiences
i used to think of idols as professionals from companies but these threads are making me consider that maybe i should change my opinion
>>10182910>Unless you're in a company or some shit, you're not technically a "real idol"I hate pulling this argument out but here I feel it’s valid. In japan there are actually idol groups (local and larger) that are independent and have no agency backing them but they still perform and release music. Same goes for South Korea. Does that mean they aren’t idols? Not necessarily. I understand it’s a vastly different landscape in the west but we have to apply the same mentality. If a band isn’t signed or a signer isn’t does that mean they aren’t a band/artist? No. They’re just an independent artist. It applies in Japan too.
>>10182910I’m going to have to disagree, indie idols with no company are a thing in Japan. Simplified, being an idol is just a type of performer. Some people are doing a bastardized version in our community, but they’re still idols even if they don’t have a “professional” company backing them. There’s no difference between some net idols and idols in Japan besides the fact the culture isn’t the same here for it so the standards are lower. If we had standards and a bigger community, it would be the same thing. Some people are just playing around, but some Japanese idols are too.
>>10182867That was it for a bit when the standards dropped dirt low after Beckii era net idols died off, but now there are more and more groups trying to be professional coming up and we shouldn’t stifle that. Some are promising, I’m not going to drop names, but there are definitely people in this comm who want to be professional and for this to be their career. They’re the ones who could possibly be threatened by these shit tier groups also being known as idols by the popular consciousness. If we had higher standards as a community more people would produce better content and we wouldn’t appear to be >>weebs playing around
>>10183146>>10183138Fair enough. I know about independent artists, but not any idols. Any recommendations? (Besides ones discussed here)I've always viewed real idols as ones that have gotten training, perform on music shows and appear on TV and things like that. Never really thought about underground (right word?) idols.
>>10183152I can gather a list when I get the chance (if no one presents some first), but they’re a lot harder to find and get hold of because of the fact they are underground and don’t have much backing.
>>10183165Thank you for your efforts! Yeah, that's probably why they're still pretty new to me ;;
>>10182910Maybe it's a game to you, but for me personally this is more than just playing around. I'm passionate about my music, and though I don't get lot for recognition (here or otherwise) I'm doing this for more than just fun
>>10183152The majority of Japanese idols are considered underground or indies idols. There are some general classifications like kokuminteki idols (national level idols), chijo idols (above ground idols), chika idols (underground idols), and chitei idols (bottom barrel idols). Most chitei idols are just random girls trying to sing and remember lyrics to karaoke tracks on a tiny stage, so Japan also has this debate of what actually should be considered an “idol” as well.I’d suggest reading this article series if you’re interested in learning more about indies and underground idols.https://www.nippon.com/en/series/c060/Just because there’s a company backing a group doesn’t mean anyone is making money, especially now a few years after the Idol warring era ended in Japan and old idol fans aren’t interested in making new favorites after their previous have graduated. Most indies companies and idols end up losing money in the end.
>>10182894I honestly hate when con department heads push their personal opinions into con decisions. This happens even outside of programming. I understand that some decisions are meant to be made for the better, but if a group of attendees paying money to go to an event are asking for something they'd like to see, why not give them a shot.Regarding youmacon, the idol contest was dumb. The person who won last year didn't even sing the right lyrics, and it was a popular anime song too. Yikes.
>>10183053Actual idols are yes, but most if not all of us here do this in our free time. Not sure what you were expecting hun.
>>10183334It ain't that deep boo. I'd recommend trying out for talent companies if you wanna take it THAT seriously. You may get more success than if you did everything on your own. It's not a game, just not something I'm going to cry over if it never takes off.
>>10183336Interesting! I'm more into the kpop side compared to the jpop one, so this is nice to know about.Definitely familiar with idol debt, given that with (at least) kpop, there are a lot of slave contracts.
>>10183138Meh, the company argument is dumb to me. In my opinion if somebody is making money out of it then it’s work which would make them a “real idol”. That being said that doesn’t apply to the majority of the community so yeah. I’d only really class the soloists/groups who sell merch/music to be “real idols” in the work sense - but that still doesn’t make hobbyists any less valid.
>>10183421I personally I’m gonna study music. Being an idol is something I do for fun but I can actually read music, play an instrument, etc. I’m not too sure about performing outside of conventions and stuff though.
>>10183334If you're that serious, then you need to get a talent manager or a professional team to raise your star because posting vocaloid covers and garage band kawaii music on youtube is going to get you nowhere. It will be expensive, but if you're serious about it then you have to make an investment.
How would all of you suggest some weeb idol group to make it big? For sure just going to conventions isn't going to do anything.
>>10183803Reaching out to other venues is definitely important imo. Unfortunately I doubt many people would get very far because it’s so niche.

>>10183150The mentality that cringe groups somehow bring down better groups makes no sense to me. If the group is good they’ll stand out on their own merits. You can’t shoot down all cringey groups either while claiming to support a community. Everyone starts out cringe.
What are some songs you'd recommend to somebody just starting out to practice singing to get better? Idol preferred
>>10184253Cringe groups are fine to exist online. The issue i have seen in my state is cringe groups leaving bad impressions (late, unorganized, unprepared, etc.) on con staff that leads to the staff not wanting to accept other groups or music events because they then had negative expectations of all groups. And it takes time to fix that.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcCptkZKZUUNot bad vocals, but I guess this is what happens when you commission the leader of Flusay Girls for an instrumental.
>>10184728This was pretty bad anon, but I do think they can go somewhere from there. The instrumental is something you'd expect of an online idol group, it's not great but it's usable. They could have made decent content with it. They really need to work on their lyrics and then their voices. The rap was awful, but pink is the only one who knows how to consistently sing clearly. Yellow sometimes speaks clearly and the other two never do. If they keep making content they could be interesting, but as of right now they're pretty bad with room to improve.
>>10184728They held auditions for composers, so I don't it was a commission.Honestly, not bad for a debut. Some parts are a bit yikes, but they've caught my interest. They're donating everything to charity too, so that's a plus.

>>10185412Pengy is>our girl
A new group I found through insta posted a dance cover on YouTube. It’s not bad aside from a few things (sharpness, cohesion, etc.). I do think the girl in the white skirt needs more energy and practice because the other two kind of outshine her. https://youtu.be/bCAPAfZrsIU
>>10185563The girl in the black shorts was the most lacking in my opinion. I love the way the tall girl moves! I hope to see more from her.
I wonder how it would go if some net idols performed some western stuff at a comic/gaming con? I’d imagine there’s some stuff that could be done there.
>>10185657The tall girl is the best imo. She moves with confidence and each move isn't done lightly or half-heartedly if that makes sense. It was hard NOT watching her because of how much lively she was than the other two.
>>10185657Dance wise definitely I agree. However she although not great didn’t seem like she was behind like the girl in the white skirt. Energy wise I still place her second because she had high energy comparatively.

If it's jpop the biggest thing to remember it is all about the face and suiting your expressions to your dance. A lot of H!P work on improvement and getting better rather than being perfect but the moves should be down and singing decent enough. Kpop unfortunately unless it's perfect no one will care really. Kpop is all about sharpness and good vocals. Look in net idols subscriptions to find more, especially new ones or not well known ones. Toodles.
>>10185563Black shorts is so distracting because her moves are behind the other two and they're lazy. It's a shame

I wasn't sure where to post this.... and I know none of you probably care.... but I need to get this out. Pic related; this was draining. If you're a producer, please for the love of God don't place your client on the back burner for months only to leave them high and dry, especially if you all have an agreement that was settled on. It's rude. If I hadn't had a kind patron today help me, I would have seriously been stuck for who knows how long. Anyway, thanks so much for letting me rant. I'm not sure if I'll ever be liked by any of you, but I'm striving to do better and having such a crushing blow makes me want to fight harder.
>>10188053No need to be so formal, anon. >I'm not sure if I'll ever be liked by any of youLiking eachother on 4chan is uncommon anyway, so don't worry about it.
>>10188053I don't dislike people from this thread, if anything I want every one to succeed. If it's a hobby have fun or if you want to be as professional do your research. I'm sorry that happened to you. You should shop around for another producer, I'm assuming you have a low budget if he was that unprofessional. You might be better off with a backup plan/ producer.
Nice to know that Fantasea splash are not only horrid dancers, but also stand with autism speaks as well as seaworld? They’ve also claimed that Blackfish is full of “misinformation”. I wasn’t following them much to begin with, and a part of me wanted to cheer them on, but the shit they do is unacceptable lol.
>>10188043Other people here know about JAFAX? Anyway, if you attended I hope you had a good time!
>>10188943Callie/Aqua has said at some point that she herself is on the spectrum. I think she really just doesn’t know any better about the Autism Speaks thing. I’ve got my opinions on the situation, but I don’t have any basis to really back them up other than speculation. Knowing that she’s on the spectrum just makes it hard to figure out if her behavior is intentional or if she doesn’t actually have a grasp on social constructs.
>>10188376I'm actually opting to self produced. I found a program I like a lot and have been making my own stuff for now.But thank you!
>>10188316I can't help formality lol. I was taught to be formal and not a huge asshole when first talking to people
>>10188943Idols should just not approach politics
>>10188943Really though, someone must have told them why these organizations are bad, so either they don't care or they don't believe them.If ignorance is their downfall, they don't have my pity.
>>10188943Ive been saying this from the beginning. Thank you anon.
>>10189010Mental illness isn't an excuse to support bad organizations :)
https://youtu.be/4ar_XuKz8KUIce Qream uploaded a new video. I like their voices and the song is done really well. I just wish they’d find someone else to mix.
>>10189248their mix are still better than 97% of existing "idol group" desu
>>10189255That’s not an excuse to have your audio peak so often in one song and for volumes to be so unbalanced.
>>10189221I wasn't trying to excuse the behavior, nor due I think it's appropriate for their actions. At the same time though, there's a lot of people who don't know any better because they've never been explicitly outlined the reasons. If she's on the spectrum, she probably thinks the organization does good work. If she hasn't done any research herself or never been told otherwise, she's got no reason to have any kind of suspicion. It's rude of us to assume she knows better. It's just kind of innocent until proven guilty with these things. Rather than just screaming "YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER", why didn't you message them with a brief explanation and some links to articles? If she chose then to continue to be ignorant or fought you, then you'd have every reason to shit on her. They might not be great dancers, but they don't deserve blatant slander for what might be misguided actions.
>>10189179Hard agree. It's not our place and you can lose fans by showing you're for or against something....
Let's not forget Fantasea Splash was the same group that stole SIFs logo and tried to blame it on their "13 year old cousin that runs their Instagram"
>>10189179Yep. I don’t care about idols dating, idols swearing, etc., but when politics gets involved everything gets messy.
>>10189453I dont even care so much about them getting "political" but this group really annoys me with how much talk they do and how little they actually put out. Like they donate/hold contests/do SFS/kiss up to all the bigger groups but they dont do... anything?? I've seen one dance cover which was them shooting pearl with music in the back ground and someone holding a shaky camera. They've had two shows but dont have even a clip of footage. Content in the idol world isnt a steady stream but they dont even share pictures in their uniform. My advice would be for them to stop follower building for the sake of it focus on putting up some quality content. We cant "support you as fans" unless you... do something
>>10189847Semi-offtopic but, Callie is such a major ass kisser to most popular idol groups and soloists. It's very annoying and sometimes uncomfortable to deal with. Also, why do we only see Callie? She seems to be the only one posting and interacting as Fantasea Splash.
>>10189920Serious question - how does one toe the line between being supportive and being ass-kissy? I ask because I also love giving people shoutouts and compliments on my IG story, and although it's because I I'm genuinely excited about their content, I worry that it comes across as "here's a compliment, please pay attention to me".
>>10190017Its all in how you word it and delivery. For example, Callie talks like shes known the idols personally for years, always brings up the idea of "collaboration", and acts like she is being beneficial to them. Just don't be so personal and forward with compliments and you will be fine.
I'm about to put out a self produced single....It's not that great, and the mixing was SUPER hard (and frankly I don't think it's been mixed well enough), but I worked hard on it.....Do you all like to see when idols put out their own self-produced content? What matters to you more: vocals or mixing?
>>10190092I like seeing well produced content or at least content that looks like effort went into it. >vocals or mixingBoth. You can have amazing vocals but if it’s not mixed well then there’s no point. But mixing and editing can’t fix everything, so try to know your notes.
>>10190092Both matter. You shouldn't have to sacrifice one of them.
>>10190098I hope that you're able to see and hear the effort that went into it!>>10190099I don't intend to, but as I'm at rookie level, I can't guarantee a masterpiece when it comes to mixing.

What should be the fps for recording dance cover?
>>10190258This outfit is so adorable and well constructed wow
>>10190601I don’t think it really matters as long as you’re not recording with shit fps but if you have capabilities to record and render in 60fps or higher that’s obviously the most ideal.
New song coming out from Sélène! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yHZ-uY9GDQAlso Kuro Hime's new song came out today - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmWzPkh3DUg
>>10190907As usual, Kuro Hime has good vocals but bad mixing and a bad song. Her voice is nice, I almost like the kitschy menhera. I wish she had a higher production value.
>>10190943I agree, I think her voice is really soothing and mellow and deserves a proper mix. I wonder if she's >>10190092 from yesterday. If so, I'm glad she got the responses she needed to convince her to pay someone for mixing. Overall I do like the song and I appreciate that she made the whole thing herself! But she'll definitely improve if she gets more people on her team to help with the things she can't easily do on her own.
>>10190965Busted.I do appreciate any and all feedback. I'm going to work on getting a team to help me for sure. >>10190943I wish I had a higher production value too, anon. I wish I did too.
>>10191044I am such a fan of yours! Your hard work and talent is really great. You should seriously invest more money into your work, and get help with it! I want to see it get better and better.
>>10191065Thank you so much! I am working very very hard to invest in it. I'm looking for another part time job, and I have a ko-fi up in case anyone wanted to support a cringy yet passionate idol lol
What kind of merchandise would you like for performers to put out? (Or specify certain performers you would want to buy merch from, if you'd like.)How do you feel about merch created through websites like Redbubble or Society6, where you upload your art onto templates of shirts, phone cases, tote bags, calendars, etc. as opposed to custom manufactured items like acrylic charms, badges, chekis, etc.?I feel like Mimi missed out on the merchandising potential of Stellure's art. I know they sold some charms and stickers, but I'm sure quite a few fans would have also loved prints or even posters of their album art and other promotional drawings.>>10190258Amaitsuki - Manner Mode (ANGERME)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzkjsVX-WJoInori - Eine Kleine (Kenshi Yonezu)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6FZMSVJnGMNiji Universe Inc. - Performance @ Vietnam Festivalhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pbg1iGKFJIwSadiq - COME IN ̶(̶N̶O̶)̶ PEACE (Original)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8MGoyslZLI(This is actually from a month ago, but I only just came across it.)
>>10191401God I would've l o v e d a poster of the Snowbound art, it was so freaking pretty
>>10191401Wow that original song is horrid
>>10191401>shirts, phone cases, tote bags, calendars, etc.Doing this is fine as long as your art is altered to fit the product. I don’t want to see a custom drawing of a dog on a pink background on a T-shirt. I’d much rather see just the dog. Closeup photos don’t work well either (like the snowbound ones). >acrylic charms, badges, chekisThese are cute but also more expensive (sorta) because you have to factor in extra shipping costs where some sites produce as they’re ordered. I feel with Chekis, charms, etc. you have to price a lot differently. But both work well. >SadiqThere are things that could make this song better but god the flow of it is so terrible. The music doesn’t fit with her vocals. So much wrong.
>>10191401I actually like the Sadiq song it sounds off but i’m okay with it
>>10191519no kidding. My ears are bleeding
>>10191838I'm trying to figure out what she was trying to accomplish with it? It's so choppy and nothing goes together at all
>>10191401This original song is a good segway into something I've wanted to say for a while. I feel like mixing/song production should be a priority for people posting covers or original songs. that song would actually be kind of dope if the mixing was done better for the vocals. it's usually difficult (at least for me) to come to a conclusion about a song while trying to ignore shitty mixing or production.
>>10191924how in the fuck did i miss that
https://youtu.be/zalNhMAQqbsWhen will darling idols take time to learn the real choreography and practice so they don't look like flailing chickens... The ruby is lost 80% of the timeThis was almost as painful as their miracle wave performance
>>10192014Looking at Darling Idols' ig, they're saying that they've won 6 awards for performances. Is this cover not representative of their other work or is the bar just that low for placing in a competition?
>>10192048I mean they’re competing in masquerades not dance competitions so I believe they’re judged on costume design and construction first and foremost rather than dance skill. The fact that they have a large group and managed to coordinate some kind of routine probably just reflects as “super impressive” to a judge who just looks at sewing skills.
>>10192065they don't usually make their own costumes. their waterblue is bought online. I think they only made their miracle wave
>>10192065It definitely makes sense for them to win for being able to coordinate costume construction amongst that many individuals, but like >>10192068 said, the costumes looked bought which is one of the reasons I was kind of confused as to why they'd win over other entries. I think Darling has potential if they recruit the right people, but right now it seems like a club based on politics rather than ability, which is disappointing because it'd be amazing to see a kind of super-group consisting of talented and well-known performers in the community.
>>10192074Based on politics how?
>>10192092As in, from an outside perspective it appears that groups of friends are admitted to the group based on who they're close with rather than dance experience or talent. Obviously this isn't a blanket statement for all members; Some seem like they know what they're doing on stage, but given the quality of some of the members' dancing, it feels as though they were admitted based on who they're friends with.
>>10192098that's not necessarily a bad thing. This is for fun after all, way better to do it with friends if it's possible.
>>10192100Ofc it’s not a bad thing to want to do things with friends! It just seems based on their app process that they weren’t just doing this as a for-fun activity and more for competitions so I felt like mixed messages were being sent
>>10192100Yeah, it just seemed weird that they apparently have a very lengthy waiting list of people waiting to be asked to join a performance, but Julia/meotashi/Mimi was allowed in because the "leaders" of the group were friends with her during Stellure. Also, one thing that strikes me as odd is that, if you watch the vlogs that the "leaders" make, they are constantly late to Darling events. I imagine their standards aren't that high.I wish Erikarnaya would start doing solo work. She actually can dance and is a QT. Best girl for sure.
>>10192074are there any stable/talented groups you would recommend?
>>10192125Honestly none are immediately coming to mind lol which is probably why I want to see one made from talented performers who are all dedicated to a goal orz It’d be cool to have an allstars group with like michigopyon, kimonotime, berricha, beckero, squishydances, julily, etc because with their combined experience, I think they could put on an amazing performanceActually, does anyone else have that kind of dream where certain idols/performers collab? Who would you pick?
Ll sunrise and aquaria and Zeus are okay lovelive cover groups Some perform better live than others like sunrise is better at sync but Zeus has a cute factor I don't know about original groups
>>10192125Honey Hime, Amaitsuki, Ice Qream, Aidorujanai, Peachy Parade.
>>10192125Personally Ive seen a lot of great and consistent content from Amuse since I found them last year https://instagram.com/amusecos
>>10192158Ohh I forgot about Aidorujanai! Emma is fantastic
Let it be said that I'm not salty about Darling Idols at all, it's just that they're not an idol group. They're a cosplay group that, every few weeks, learns a 2 minute anime dance for judges that are looking for costume quality over dance quality. I actually like watching Dietshampoo's convention vlogs, but you can see how little the "idol" part of what they do is. They only just started having members send in practice videos beforehand, they used to just learn it the weekend of the convention. Usually they have a member drop, and find a friend to learn the dance the day of. They've never done a dance panel or anything that would require them to learn a whole setlist, no singing, nothing. They're not even serious dancers, much less idols. I know this makes me sound like a salty gull and that's not my intention, because they're fine for what they do. It's just that, much like any other Love Live cosplay group, fans and cosplayers don't really care about dance skills because they've seen the dances a million times.
>>10192263As someone who follows cosplay and idol groups, I have to agree about Darling Idols. However, as someone in a cosplay dance group, I have to argue that there are some groups who highly value quality in dance and performance. We do lives that require us to learn the moves and lipsynch to sometimes up to 15 songs. It's a lot of work and we shouldn't be so quick to dismiss a group just because they're a cosplay cover group.
>>10192158 >>10192167Wow, love them all!!!It's really cool that each group's from a different country.>>10192128 I'd be amazing if they could all perform together at a festival. >>10190943Seconding this. I feel like her lyrics can be salvaged if she learned to make an instrumental that had an actual tune to it, same with the actual singing. It's very monotone. But this could just be that I like songs with a beat to it and that has a catchy tune and rhythm.
>>10191044I don't think your instrumental is bad! It just sounds unbalanced. The drum tracks are really behind everything, and some of the texture effects are overwhelming the track and making it sound muddy. I think you have a really good grasp on picking chords that go with your melodies and arranging the song into distinctive sections, so just getting it mixed better would go a long way. Feel free to join the OIC discord and get feedback from the other musicians and composers there!
>>10192134They are planning to do their first solo concert as well similar to EPS last year when they disbanded and had a concert as a send offThis is also one of their Ayumi's last time performing with Zeus and she and Lynn won the local AR Idol contest this year performing Little Riddle. https://www.bilibili.com/video/av31248239https://www.bilibili.com/video/av30545904
>>10192382Can you explain more about how it sounds tuneless?I wanna bring content people will like, and tuneless is not likeable.>>10192410I will keep that in mind! I'm working on a new one so I'll be sure to keep the effects down this time.I've been trying to join the OIC discord for 6 months now, so I agree completely with you, but so far nothing.
tip to net idols who sing: don't sing from the throat. i've noticed this a lot in original songs
>>10192627Where the fuck are you supposed to sing from...
>>10192627if you're going to give tips, at least be more specific.
>>10192661I suck at singing but I've been getting better with lessons, so let me try to help. Without practice, most people use their "head voice", which sounds weak and whiny. The goal is to use a "chest voice" which has power in it and sounds clear without sounding strained. However, this takes a lot of air and muscle control, so when you haven't totally got the hang of singing with your chest yet, and you're straining to get enough air through, your throat kind of closes up a bit and that creates a "throat voice" that sounds strained and can be raspy or hoarse. There's a lot that can be said about how to train your ab muscles to push the air, and how to open up your mouth and throat to encourage resonance and projection, but I'm still learning all that myself so I can't really teach it. I definitely recommend looking up singing lessons on youtube to help explain these comments if you can't take in-person lessons, though.
>>10192705To play off of this advice (which even if you’re learning I think you explained the concept really well!) For some people, it can be the inverse which I think is maybe what throat anon was referring to. I know for myself I actually started out with a stronger head voice than a chest voice. It took me several years to learn how belt our notes without having it crack or only being able to sing within a small range. Inversely my sister who I took vocal lesson with could belt notes higher than I can even now but as soon as she switched into head voice she sounded like a scratchy mouse. So it kind of just depends on what your strengths are. I personally would suggest honing in on the one you are strongest at first in order to perfect it and then start to work on your weaker side to bring it up to the same level as your stronger voice.
>>10192661Diaphram and not from the throat
>>10192627I mean.... You could have elaborated and given more solid advice, but I'm glad anons >>10192705 and >>10192729 did it for you
>>10192771I mean, the diaphragm only contracts when you're pulling in air. It relaxes when you exhale, so it's not the muscle you should be focusing on for singing, you need to train other abdominals to push the air out properly. Small pet peeve, but "singing from the diaphragm" makes no sense and I tend to assume people saying it don't have as much singing experience as they think they do and are just parroting back old advice. As >>10192705 and >>10192729 said, there's lots more to proper singing form and control than just where your voice is coming from.
>>10192779This so much. It’s been so widely spread to “sing from your diaphragm” that people don’t even realize you can’t control what it does. I used to believe it until I actually began taking lessons and learning proper technique.
Risa uploaded her Anime CTX footagehttps://youtu.be/3zPIqjMNKZYSomeone please tell her she needs to put more work into learning lyrics, wow
>>10192338The amount of people up there reading their lyrics off a phone or a sheet of paper... that’s just sad.
>>10192779Would you believe me if I told you I went to a performing arts school and "sing from your diaphram" is all they told us....LOL I'm glad finally someone has explained this concept. It baffled me for years.
>>10192338My god this is.... this is really pitiful (._. )
>>10193268I feel like the bare minimum should be to know the damn lyrics.....
>>10193268One of the girls got sick right before the event and redid her whole set to accommodate it the night before unfortunately
>>10193293That’s not really an excuse though, always have backups prepared
>>10193290I was one of the performers lol. I don't have an excuse, I was just super nervous. It gets less nerve-wracking each time I perform though.>>10193287If you've got time, let me know what needs improving the most! It was the first time we ran an event like that, and we want to keep going but we want to improve the event every time. You can be harsh about it.
>>10192338The first soloist has a good voice. Her stage presence made me cringe though, it felt very messy. Reading her lyrics off of a stand doesn't help her either. The colorful group of 5 needs a lot of practice. The original song doesn't sound bad, but the instrumental needs to be fixed and they need to sing with more enthusiasm and actual tone? The pink and yellow duo were pretty enjoyable, i hope they continue to practice. Attempting to sing and dance momoiro clover is bold. They should turn down the backing vocals for the future.
>>10193304If it was nerves, then I can give that a slight pass, as I was nervous and almost forgot a whole verse during my set. If it helps, pick a spot on the wall, or one to two audience members you trust and sing to them and them alone. It makes the room all but disappear and you can focus a bit easier!>>10193304OK!From what I can see, your hearts are all in the right place.Lemme ask this, was the room set up small? Was there only one mic? How far in advance did you know about your room?I'll be able to give criticism better when I know these things for one partDid you also do a run of how it would go for the live? I think that may explain why it looked so dramatically underpreparedAs far as the talent goes, why was everyone so... not genki? I feel like the MC as well as the talent could have at least faked their happiness better, nerves aside. I also suggest taking a look at some of TIF's showcases. To me, the showcase just seemed super lazy and last minute, and the fact that half your idols were reading from paper and phones for lyrics is a HUGE no no, as it shows that no one was prepared for anything.
>>10193314I love the person during the first set "IT DIDN'T CRACK!! YES!!!"Literally me when I'm practicing
>>10193329Thank you for the advice! I'll try and answer all the questions. The room was a very small panel room. It definitely had a more intimate environment than we were hoping for. Initially I had sent out some emails asking about the possibility of it being a main event, but those went ignored so we applied for it as a panel. Even then, we didn't hear back confirming it until like...ten days before the event? I'd been preparing for it under the assumption that it would be accepted, but even still I found that a lot of things couldn't be finalized until we knew the time and length of the event, so there was a lot of last minute rushing. A few people changed setlists. We weren't able to do a runthrough, and the sound system the convention provided was horrible so we were using a backup speaker and backup mics provided by the showcase participants themselves. About talent, I should take a lot of responsibility for the low energy in the room. I was the MC and although I've improved, I'm still naturally a very quiet and low energy person so I need to work on that if I'm going to be doing any MC stuff in the future. I was honestly really excited, and not unhappy, but I was nervous and trying really hard not to be cringy. And then when my set came on I made a ton of mistakes too, so even with practice it wasn't enough, and I know to practice and prepare even harder next time.Anyway, none of those are meant to be excuses, just context. I know the event came off as unprepared and kinda sad, and we're definitely going to work as a community to improve that. This was a learning experience for everyone. Our goals are to try and get in main events in the future, so we're able to have a little more setup and runthrough time as well as more reliable tech. We also want to turn it into an audition-based event to ensure that participants are more prepared and even really talented acts like ChiRi girls (the pink and yellow duo) have to get in fairly and be prepared.
>>10192338It's sad that the only one that seemed energetic and prepared sounded like a dying animal. The first girl flinging the lyric sheets was super unprofessional.
>>10193351Oh damn if it was that big of a clusterfuck room and sound wise, you did your best....Setlists wise: You should have a cut off date of at minimum a week and a half before showtime. Changing the setlists is literally the worst thing someone could ever do that close to time, and that's unacceptable that it was allowed.Your MC skills can improve. I suggest looking in a mirror and practice facial expressions and talk for 15 minutes a day. Repetition helps a lot. Another suggestion is doing live streams. Maybe just sit and talk with you audience and practice facials there too.Use your cringe to your advantage. Sometimes even if you're cringey, you'll come off as kind of cute and loveable.Just remember practice is the key. Uploading odottemitas can help get feedback on how you look while performing as well, so I highly recommend it.All in all, there were many understandable juvenile mistakes. I think if you take any and all constructive criticism given to you, you'll have a chance at putting on a better showcase!
>>10192772It is pretty common advice when you look up singing advice online. i thought it was widely known, so I didn't go into detail lol. That's on me.
Has anyone ever thought about opening a subreddit for net idols/overseas idols/indie idols? or is the topic too niche?
>>10193894It’s definitely too niche. Even indie Asian idols I feel aren’t popular enough for that. I only find it possible if someone strikes gold as an idol which probably won’t happen.
>>10193894There's no point, like the anon above mentioned it's niche outside of japan. It's not like there isn't forums centered around net idols/ beginners trying to get big they are just all in moonrunes.Start a discord group for your area, state, or a general one if you want to discuss more outside of this thread.
>>10192555It's kinda hard to explain, like there isn't a tune or rhythm I guess to follow? The effects blurs the music and makes it muddy so the drums and anything else can't be heard at all and because of that there isn't really a tune to the song.
>>10194248Thank you! I have been re-listening to it over and over and can hear what you mean. I'll try and find someone to give it a good mix so it sounds better.
>>10194264I'm also just really partial to music that I can dance to or daydream to so that's probably part of my reasoning as well. But like I said, you do have talent and your lyrics are good! I just don't really like the melody of the songs and the over use of the effects.
Looks like Bouquettes is releasing things again, they recently did birthday posts for 2 of the girls and their instagram promised more content, hope they release another song dream out loud was great.
>>10194455Totally fair. Well, hopefully I can change your mind with this next one. It should have been number two but it's better than never releasing
What are the best things a group can do to stay active online between releases?
>>10194597Release other kinds of videos. A lot of K-Pop idols and Hello! Project used to upload dance videos both during release periods and off periods. Up Up Girls even doubles as a cover group. They could also do fun videos such as games or BTS things. Posting on social a photo or a status isn’t really anything interesting.
>>10194616I don’t remember which group it was off the top of my head, sorry I’m very tired, but didn’t three girls do a Bob Ross painting tutorial? It was so different for idols but so fun to watch
>>10194663Danzoo Dash did this! They have "subunits" that do different activities. They also live stream pretty regularly! Livestreaming is a great way to stay engaged with your active audience without being super active.
>>10194664Yes Danzoo! I would love if more idols did stuff like that. Where do they stream, Instagram? I doubt I’ll be in the right timezone to catch any but I’ll keep an eye out
>>10194664What should people do during live streams? What would y’all like to see? Just talking? or drawing, sewing, practicing, etc?
>>10194710Practicing would be good, I'd also love to see costume making but that would take a lot of your concentration away from the audience and unlike practice, it would mostly be silent.
>>10194713Yeah costume making would be good but only if there’s other members there to keep the audience entertained at the same time
>>10194710Practice, to me, isn’t something streamable. Like sewing, there’ll have to be someone there to keep the audience engaged which takes away from one party or the other. But that’s where planning comes in. If you do a stream where you’re learning the dance, it has to be structured so you’re saying “okay we can do the dance then on break we take questions” etc. etc.
Legacy is minutes away from showing the PV for their debut signlehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sU_xvDyiH4Y
>>10194857Peachy Parade and SYA both stream practices and it’s pretty fun to watch I think, but they also take time to engage and whatnot.
anyone got tea about what hapenned to sunrise's ruby?
>>10195143>ISpeaking of SYA, they have a new video. I like how even if theyre tired, they dance with energyhttps://youtu.be/QgKKKwV7bsw
>>10194976Not a big fan, the lyrics are cute, looking around a bit it looks like it's the same lyricist as bouquettes, cute art and good mix but the song seems to jump around a lot,and the pv seems a bit weird, I'm not sure how to put it
>>10195251I feel like the chorus and the rest of the song are two different vibes and so it seems kinda mismatched.
>>10195251>>10195322I personally like the song. Intergalactic Disco is kind of the same in terms of how it’s different styling in different parts so I wonder what makes this one so different.
https://youtu.be/OMocra_ExTQOpinions on Jazi’s new song? I like the concept of it being more mature but I don’t think she does it well at all. There’s no difference in her image from when she’s doing more “innocent” stuff and the sexy parts just feel awkward. I think better styling and trying to be more natural would probably help more. Musically I won’t say much because not every idol has great composers but I do think she needs to blend herself with the music more and add harmonies. I don’t think I heard many if any at all.
>>10195390DESU I'd rather net idols just saved up to fund better music videos rather than film ones on their phones.
>>10195390I think the worse part is her makeup. Definitely doesn't suit the song and that blush is ridiculously heavy. The song itself was pretty meh to me, I got to the second chorus and had to stop listening because the high parts hurt my ears so much. (That might just be me, I'm sensitive to certain sounds)
So one of the squeeze girls posted on her Twitter than she’s MTF. She also posted a link to a gofundme campaign to find her transition. I’m a little... hesitant to support stuff like this, not because of the issue of people transitioning, but because she mentions in the post she lost her job/main source of income. I’m sorry... if you don’t have a job and can’t afford your necessary health issues, you shouldn’t be playing idol in the background. Your real life should come first, not some fun hobby— especially when you don’t have a job to fund said project.
>>10195635I kind of have to agree. I'm not bashing against Squeezes situation but youd think getting a job and getting a steady income would come before trying to make it as an idol.
>>10195635In it, she also says she hadn’t been able to hold a steady job long enough to get benefits or whatnot to continue treatment. My biggest question is, why can’t you hold a job? I understand she’s going through dysphoria but there has to be some kind of support. Playing idol isn’t the issue because they’ve kept pushing back their plans (they’re still pushing back; look at their website). Clearly someone doesn’t care enough about their wellbeing. I’m not trying to be mean here but there has to be some job you can keep and if you care about your health enough, why can’t you power through something?
>>10195375I think in addition to the chorus and verses being very different, there were barely any trio/duos during the verses so it made them stick out more against the chorus making it less cohesive.
>>10195482She has her phone in some of the shots haha I think she filmed this trash on an actual camera which is even sadder honestly. But imo Jazi is an ugly whale who needs to stop doing anything gravure related unless she loses 30+ pounds. Like you can see her rolls when she goes on the floor. Gross.
>>10195843While I don’t agree with your wording, I think she needs to stop doing gravure until she learns how to dress for her body. She doesn’t seem to realize that larger girls can’t just wear the same skimpy clothing as skinny girls.
>>10195848Personally me and my friends love her gravure work, and no we’re not all “big girls”. Just because a few anons don’t like it doesn’t mean she should stop.
>>10195848I mean we can.... We just have to wear it completely different.
>>10195853Sorry but if you're a size 18-20 you shouldn't be online in lingerie that's just how it is
>>10195856Uhhh I don't think Jazi is a size 18-20 but go off I guess
>>10195856It’s really not but go off
>>10195853I never said she has to stop all together. I like it too but I’m not going to pretend she looks great all the time (part of it is because her photos aren’t even edited for lighting).>>10195855Lingerie wise, as a size 16-18, I disagree. Wearing it differently isn’t the same as wearing it like other people. There’s a reason why a lot of plus size versions of lingerie is high wasted or has longer tops or move coverage. >>10195863NTAYRT, but depending on her height, she very well could be 16 or 18, but not twenty. I only say so because people who are taller don’t always seem to be the sizes they actually are.
>>10195912Her height is on her gravure account. I think she's probably a 14 max? She definitely isn't like obese or anything and usually people who are a 16+ look wayyy bigger
>>10195929She’s 5’ 9 which is only an inch shorter than I am. She's in better shape than I am by a small margin but she’s at the smallest a 14 and the biggest is 18. Height matters and anything shorter than 5’ 8 at 178 looks huge.
>>10195390I won’t discuss the music mixing/lyrics cause that’s not my expertise, to me I think it’s decent and alright. Anons more qualified can go more into it.The music video overall was a flop but I agree with the anon above that I appreciate a more mature and sexy concept. The execution visually was horrendous, to be frank there’s little to no excuse for that. The whole point of gravure is to be sexy in an innocent or “unknowing way”. Nothing about her acting felt like that, she didn’t need to be a siren drawing you in but it honestly felt like she didn’t know what being sexy is. She look stiff, she did some generic sexy things like playing with your hair and stuff but if felt like a child mimicking what they saw on tv and not an adult embarrassing her body and being carefree. The dead eye doll look into the camera needs to stop. The styling of her over all looks felt cheap. You can spend little on lingerie or a sexy outfit and have it look fantastic. The outfits she was wearing weren’t special in anyway and didn’t follow a theme. It was just “here’s a different bra and panty” every few moments. Makeup was bad in the sense of how it appears on camera through the lighting, edits, and honestly it wasn’t excuted well as far as skill. Either do what’s in your ability and take some more time to learn. The environments were bland and added nothing. The camera is hers, she could of seen through the editing process it didn’t look that great and shot again, she isn’t renting a camera crew and can only take one shot. Some of the angles and shots didn’t make sense, the outfit is simple there was no need for majority of those close ups. Watch a few YouTube videos on different music video angles and shots and study gravure music videos.TLDR: loosen up, research how to be flirty and sexy, research how to appropriately film shots, decorate the environment.
>>10195959Sage for the run on sentences and spelling mistakes. On my phone and uses autofilled more than I should have. I mean embracing not embarrassing
>>10195959I feel like she might have been going for more of a western sexy than a Japanese gravure sexy? Which might be okay or even smart but I agree with most of your points otherwise. It was badly executed (though frankly not the most cringeworthy thing I've seen posted here) She just needs to keep trying

>>10195635If a group is known for prioritizing their well being over being idols, it would be Squeeze. I don’t see them prioritizing Squeeze over anything, it seems like they cancelled all their plans around the time their member probably lost her job. I don’t see why someone’s loosing their job and needing to transition after already being in the group is bad. It would be different if she was asking for money for something else besides transitioning but I feel really sympathetic towards her and wish I could help. It’s always seemed like Candy is a lot more active and Mari isn’t, this is probably why. They’re both open on twitter about being mentally ill.
