Starter topic: Professionalism. Obviously it's important - but to what degree of professionalism do you hold overseas idols? Is it okay if they swear? Talk about their personal stuff? How do you feel about people who post both their idol stuff and their regular life stuff on the same account vs. having separate accounts? Is cosplay okay to share on idol accounts? Lastly, what about drama; what's the best way to respond to a situation that an idol finds themselves in, and how much detail should they give while responding to the situation?

Featured: Honey Hime
>>
As far as professionalism goes, I don’t think it’s fair to hold overseas idols to exactly the same levels of professionalism as Japanese or Korean idols. They aren’t people who have trained or have their media screened or have a PR person for “scandals.” However, they should be expected to keep a relatively clean image.

I don’t think it’s okay for idols to swear (everyone swears but don’t do it publicly on an idol account; there’s a difference between being fake and simply filtering yourself). I also don’t like the idea of idols openly posting about drinking or anything like that. Not that any have, but posting a photo of a meal & you are of age with a glass of wine or beer is okay. But don’t post about your 10th drink or hit of the night please. Posting about idol life and regular life are okay as long as you know the limits. For example, you can post when you go out with your non-idol friends but don’t post their @ or don’t show their faces unless they’re okay with it. I personally think it’s just a common sense issue honestly? Not just for idols.

Finally, as an end to my huge wall of text, I feel like the best way to respond is to not respond at all especially if it does not involve you. Unless it’s being brought to your attention, act like it doesn’t exist. I only say that because it’ll be let go faster if you say nothing (unless it’s really bad). Don’t be vague and super shady about it either. When you respond, if you respond, don’t play victim and just own up, apologize, and/or clarify. Don’t give too much detail about the personal facts. Just get right to the point and also talk to the other person(s). Once you make a well written, non-victim framing statement, let it go.

Moka from DZD uploaded a new cover earlier today. Thoughts? Personally, I think she needs a lot of practice. She looks like she’s flailing around during half of the video and her attempts at “looking energetic” make her look more like she has absolutely no idea what she’s doing.
>>
>>10155884
something feels off like the energy and coordination and timing is not balanced throughout the video. Unfortunately I don't have any way of suggesting how this could be more appealing other than just more dance practice for this person. The facials didn't feel consistent either. On the good side, he filming spot is nice. It looks a lot better when people film outdoors and the buildings on the side and cars on the left makes it a bit interesting to the eye.
>>
>>10155771
>As long as you guys were the center of attention, am I right?

This is exactly how Idolized operates. (Claudie is a notorious attention whore tripfag so she’s at least in good company) They don’t care who they need to abuse, use, and step on to have the title as the best Love Live cover group in New England. Didn’t they kick out their own members who have been loyal to them for YEARS to let another member’s partner into the group?
>>
>>10155974
Sorry, that was meant in response to >>10155767
>>
>>10155974
As much as that tea sounds hot, that still doesn’t explain why the showcase was a shit show.

Were they late? Did they purposefully exclude other groups? Did they talk shit openly in front of others? Like as much as you hate a group you can’t claim they ran the showcase badly just because you think they’re mean.

Tie it into the professionalism discussions starter; what could they have done better?
>>
>>10155995
why arent there more people like you directing conversations on this thread
>>
>>10155995
Not revealing who I am, i will say they openly talked shit about a few groups who particpated. The vocaloid girl got the worst of it.

I also wanted to participate as a soloists, but they made it very well known they were only accepting anime cosplay idols, nothing else. Even after asking questions directly to the members, they insisted I should cosplay to "have a better chance of getting in".

All of the participants were either people who don't know their history or were their "friends". None got in by merit.
>>
something to discuss that i saw on ig:
do you guys feel as if people try to pass off sloppy dancing as "part of their style"?
>>
>>10156030
I feel like it’s lazy. Just admit you can’t dance or you don’t want to. Sloppy as part of your style is just making you and everyone else look bad.
>>
>>10155969
I disagree about the location. The trees are depressing and the buildings are ugly, and dancing next to the street seems kind of dangerous..
>>
>>10155770
>Current & Upcoming
Also, Julily is a part of new group called Ambiflora that will debut next weekend at Chibi-Con, and Risa Rosé will debut at MiniMiniCon, the setlist including her new original song "Hall of Mirrors."

And some recent uploads:
Moka of Danzoo Dash - P and A (Dempagumi.inc)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUiHFOwuGi0

One Wish - Teacher Teacher (AKB48)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JVGlqvm7pA

Yuwkaru of HeartShot Dance - Rabbit (Vocaloid)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zjKvIjY-qc

Julily - Better Without You [Premieres in 15 hours]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h87BlLU1_KI

Would anyone here have any interest in watching net idols do livestreams, and if so, is there anything in particular you would want to see them do? I think karaoke or vocal/dance practice sessions would be fun, or even them working on costume designs/construction.

A while back, I had considered creating a video tutorial geared towards net idols on setting up livestreams for Youtube/Twitch/etc. (because personally, I hate trying to watch Instagram lives for multiple reasons lol) but then I figured that the general tutorials that already exist probably suffice and maybe it's just due to lack of interest for livestreaming that no net idol really does it (that I know of).

I'm organising a community idol showcase for the next local con. Any advice is welcome!
>>
>>10156121
Don't attempt to run an idol showcase if you haven't attended a properly ran one. Seeing it done right will give you perspective. If you can't wait, reach out to established idol showcase organizers. Most are willing to give advice.
>>
>>10156130
This isn't realistic advice because there are a lot of places that aren't anywhere close to one of the well ran idol showcases. You can find YouTube videos of those ones though, and Milky Kitty at least started an article series on how to run your own, so there's ways of studying up on it if you can't physically attend one.
>>
>>10155995
I wasn’t there and there aren’t videos up yet so I can’t critique MCing and etc. but them calling it an idol “safe space” leading up to the event is quite the bold remark. Considering only Love Live things were accepted and advertised on everything posted on IG.. Then we have a Vocaloid solo artist in the showcase. And let’s give the benefit of the doubt and say someone else dropped last second so this solo performance was taken off the waitlist last second. It still doesn’t surprise me to hear that Idolized would find the easiest target in the room to pick on behind people’s backs. Like others have said, they’re willing to use and abuse anyone to make them look higher on whatever the heck this New England Idol community has for some fucked up food chain. They’re elitist mean girls taken back to middle school / high school when they cosplay these idols. They shouldn’t have been MCs or by the sounds of it, had any control over who was accepted or who wasn’t. It wasn’t an idol showcase. It was a Love Live showcase and then let’s make this poor Vocaloid girl feel picked on. Far from the “safe space” they advertised for.
>>
>>10156073
teacher teacher is such a cute and easy dance and they succeeded in making it look awkward.
>>
Idk who to reply to about the ab showcase but other than hosts im proud that they got the big stage as for next year I really hope they encourage diversity and put a limit to dances/ cosplays from the same show and get mics so people sing. Idk what was going on with how idolized chose the groups but they are a love live group and going to be getting a majority of people into that. Ill try reaching out to ab about next year but do you guys have any ideas? Like maybe making a discord for NE for idols and not just love live to build a stronger community here?
>>
The vocaloid girl was so cute :( that makes me so upset they were picking on her
>>
>>10156320
I think the first order of business would be not having a cosplay group that’s performing as the MCs and ESPECIALLY not one with a reputation for bullying other Love Livers. I almost would have preferred if they just hired some normie out of AB’s staff to MC instead. Someone in the last thread mentioned they reached out to AB’s higher ups about the idol showcase and I will be doing the same and making sure they know of Idolized’s past of harassing others.
>>
>>10156329
>Idolized’s past of harassing others
Should clarify, I said past when I should’ve used history, they definitely haven’t stopped bullying the idol community lol. Saging for correction.
>>
>>10155884
I couldn't even get through the video. The dancing was really weird and she doesn't look like she knows what she's really doing. Her brain seems elsewhere. It's not a flattering look.
>>
Idolized is lurking on here so everyone say hello! Girls, instead of playing victim, own up to everything. It's not hard.
>>
>>10156073
I’ve seen a few groups who already livestream practices, Peachy Parade has been streaming on Facebook for a long time and recently moved to Showroom and I think Twitch. SYA also streams on Showroom.
>>
>>10156390
How to be problematic 101: refer to the idol community as cosplayers, dismissing other idol talent. Girls, this is why people are pissed off. Your fake personalities combined with this elitlism and dismissal of other idol talent is why you shouldn't be running this showcase. Grow up, stop playing victim, actually listen to your community, and stop assuming the idol community is just cosplayers.
>>
>>10156013
Idolized had nothing to do with who got picked to perform; it was all first-come-first-serve, so if you didn’t get in, you didn’t apply quickly enough, sorry, but you can confirm with Ashley who ran this entire event if you want

>>10156321
Absolutely no one was picking on her, everyone backstage was thrilled to see her and cheered wicked hard for her during the performance

>>
>>10156460
nayrt but this is some backward reasoning. Critiques and facts aren't invalidated by coming from an anonymous source. Your only defense against an accusation is "Say it to my face" and that just looks really unconvincing towards the point you're trying to gain.
>>
>>10156474
if anything it kinda proves you have issues improving on criticism, further pushing the idea that you're elitst.

nyart , but just saying over and over that they were mean and elitist doesn’t make it true, esp on anon. there hasn’t been anything concrete posted

people make up stuff here all the time, it’s not a reliable source

as a bystander, y’all just seem real salty. you can’t call accussations with no evidence “criticism”
>>
>>10156474
Idolized does all their shit talking anonymously and with fake IG accounts anyway which makes the whole thing even funnier.
>>
>>10156474
If y’all want facts, talk to Ashley. It’s not criticism that you’re sprouting, it’s false info re: who accepted groups into the showcase. Also, you know my handle, talk to me directly if you have that much of an issue. So if you still wanna keep this up, you know where to find me.
>>
>>10156460
Sweetheart, you’re making a fool out of yourself. Chill and maybe stop being such a toxic twat and people won’t have anything to complain about.
>>
>>10156492
Damn, I used to think you were cool but this attitude is shitty. Sorry people are saying mean things about you, but there are more professional ways to respond if you actually want people to believe you and your group aren't all catty. This attitude just makes me believe those shit talking you here are right.
>>
>anons talk crap about a group
>make a bunch of claims with no evidence
>someone from the group shows up and clarifies wrong information
>offers to talk to people off anon about issues

wait ... who is embarrassing themselves here?
>>
>>10156488
Let’s not forget our lovely MC’s salty attitude and elitism brought to you from previous threads. There is plenty of bullying people have felt but no one wants to out themselves with personal discussion screen shots lol.
>>
>>10156510
Put your trip back on Claudie you aren’t fooling anyone.
>>
>>10156510
Are we just dismissing kicking out members with little to no reason and having someone lined up right away to replace them? I haven’t seen anyone try and defend that bold move.
>>
>>10156528
The only reason Claudie is even their new Kotori is because they kicked out their old Kotori so seeing her get defensive of them is laughable.
>>
>>10156534
That’s only the half of it too. To kick a member for wanting to change from Kotori to Umi when the opportunity arrived, but instead “nah, we got a new Umi, no auditions, and you can leave while your at it” thus giving Claudine the opportunity to audition is what’s funny that she can’t seen the elitism so right in front of her.
>>
So professionalism am I right?
>>
>>10156546
Yeah holy shit, I feel like I cursed the thread by choosing that topic. Get back from the gym to see this lol.

So anyway, Julily's debut song premieres in about an hour. Anyone gonna watch it live?
>>
>>10156559
>what's the best way to respond to a situation that an idol finds themselves in
Do the opposite of what Claudie and the rest of Idolized are doing in this thread.
>>
>>10156510
Still you guys but go off I guess
>>
The NE idol community is absolutely toxic. Idolized unfortunately is not a big help. They DID kick a dedicated member for their maki to have his boyfriend to join. They kicked their kotori, who was kicked for that AND just for asking to swap to Umi. Idolized has also kicked out a former member, when they chose to pay for their dogs surgery instead of a cosplay. The showcase claims it was first come first serve, which is possibly could have been, but I still think Idolized had control over who would join. I was at the showcase, the crowd was dead, and it was clear people only came for idolized. The vocaloid girl was great, and I admire her for going up there. Also I’m the one who made sonic says fuck idolized, nice to see my impact :). Idolized has issues with many people. Many younger idols up here admire them, as you would think, but us who have been doing this for a while know what happens off stage. I’m glad the showcase went well, but I hope next year that it’s less love live. Ll drama in NE is deeper than the fucking Mariana Trench like there is no escaping it.
>>
>>10156559
Ohh, thank you for reminding me. I'm not a fan of her, (don't dislike her or anything, just not that familiar) but I'm pretty interested in it after seeing the outfit.
>>
>>10156460
Just because you don’t know what shit Idolized got into before you joined doesn’t mean they’re innocent. You’ve been part of their group for what, a month and you’re already making a fool of yourself to defend them? You’re one “you’re just jealous!” away from being a perfect fit for this toxic group.
>>
For all of your needs :)
>>
>>10156590
>Idolized has also kicked out a former member, when they chose to pay for their dogs surgery instead of a cosplay
Um what is the tea on this?! Which member was kicked out??? Idolized needs to get their heads out of their asses and realize this is real fucking life and if they’re going to kick a member out for TAKING CARE OF THEIR PET then they 1000% deserve to be dragged back to hell where they belong.
>>
>>10156625
Oh this was a long long time ago, this person is out of New England now and definitely does not want to be dragged back into it. But yeah, this was something that happened a while back.
>>
>>10156511
I love how they call themselves idols. but they are just a cover group? yall dont make songs, dont make up the dances, or costumes. Yall are just fake btches with yours head too far up your asses
>>
>>10156590
Kason you know why you were asked to leave, just move on and be grateful the authorities were never involved
>>
>>10156653
Why would you say that??
>>
>>10156650
This. There’s a difference between being a cover idol group, a cosplay cover group, and an actual idol group. A cover idol group is a group of people who do dance covers and perform them on stage. Ex: Danzoo dash, Nihana, Momora, etc. A cosplay idol group are people who cosplay from a specific idol anime(s) and do dance covers of those songs. Ex: idols a la carte, ur’s, every other fucking love live dance group. I consider groups to be actual idol groups if they’re at least singing and dancing. You don’t need to have an original song—just do more than dancing. Ex: Julily, SYA, Peachy Parade, Melancholiaaah.

Tldr; idolized are a bunch of toxic children playing dress up that call themselves idols. You’re cosplayers. There’s a difference. For a group that’s as elitist as you guys are, I’d expect you to know something like that.
>>
>>10156653
Idolized is lucky they never got a cease and desist from Lantis and Sunrise for selling shitty unoriginal t-shirts and banned from AB for almost scamming people to hosting an unaffiliated idol showcase the same weekend but go on

>>
>>10156674
This just proves Idolized has a COMPLETELY warped sense of reality if they think this is something they can call the authorities over. Entirely delusional, I’m not surprised they think they’re real idols.

Hey also! Let’s not use this site to shit talk younger idols. ESPECIALLY ones new. I’m talking about y’all calling the groups flops. I knew at least one person in every one of those groups, and they were all so nervous and wanting to do well. It’s disgusting that you’re poking fun at them. Some of them had never performed before, and it’s mighty fucking rude to shit talk kids doing what they enjoy. It takes a lot to perform on a main stage for your first time. I don’t wanna hear body shaming n shit from incels who are pissy that they’re waifus weren’t perfect. Also please support your other idols.

>>
>>10156707
Im not the most well versed in these laws.. but I’m 99% sure as long as it wasn’t published online or used as black mail there’s nothing illegal about that. It sounds like something between the two of them at a totally legal age gap. Not something people not involved to air out for them and certainly not kick a member out over. But whatever helps you sleep at night.
>>
>>10156707
I know for a fucking FACT. There is no sex tape/video. What kind of accusation is that? And no this is NOT kason or his ex speaking. What is wrong with you? There was never a sex tape, or any video of sexual activity between the two. Furtherfuckingmore, 2 years is a completely LEGAL age gap, and not grounds to kick out a dedicated member.
>>
>>10156723
Even if it was true, it is absolutely NOT Idolized’s business to post on 4chan. You lot fucking disgust me, I hope you look back on this and feel shame and embarrassment.
>>
>>10156727
They won't. There going to use this to look like victims. I really hope AB stops working with them. Theres more deserving locals and idol showcase runners who can save AB from Idolized.

At this point AB working with idolized is overall bad PR. Whether they did something or not look at what is happening with their name even PRIOR to showcase. I mean all NE LL groups have realllllly bad reps as it is but this is a big one. What did you guys think of Julily's performance? I thought it was actually pretty good. Her dancing was strong and sharp, unfortunately I couldn't really hear her singing but the parts I did sounded good. The 'woah's were weak tho, I'm guessing she got out of breath since I could feel the struggle in her voice. Overall, good first impression!

>>10156777
I agree with all your points: Her dancing was good (the backup dancers were kind of stiff and awkward), what I could hear of her singing was nice (probably sounded better in person than it does in this recording?) but the "woah-oh-oh" part sounded somewhat strained. But overall a good performance, cool song, and beautiful costume! (But like anons in the last thread said, it could really use a petticoat, and I'm still of the opinion that glitter would make it at least twice as pretty lol)

>>10156391
Thank you for telling me! I'm not really an avid follower of Peachy Parade's but I want to check out their streams some time, and I just totally forgot about Seishunya's Showroom when I made that post.
>>
>10156777
>10156802

Agreed! The dance was more energetic than I expected it to be and the melody was really suited to her voice. My only criticism, and it's more of a nitpick than anything, is that I felt the backup dancers should have been wearing at least something a little more thematic. Even white would have looked better than black, it was kind of a harsh block of dark color in comparison to her flowy pretty outfit. It made it a little hard to focus on her.
>>
>>10156777
In addition to this, I wish the dancing was more in sync! You could tell the white girl was a bit lost at times and all three were on different counts. I also still feel a bit iffy about the shoe choice. Even black booties would be better than timbs.

The back up dancers needed better outfits. the all black sportswear was too contrasting to julily. They probably had other performances in the fest, but making the effort to coordinate a matching outfit to hers would look more cohesive, at least lighter colors and not sports wear that looks too casual. other than that, I thought it was all right

>>10156777
I also forgot to mention that julily's dancing is very impressive. her isolation and sharpness is probably one of the best in this community. She could pull this dance off perfectly solo if she runs into a chance where her back up dancers aren't available.

Here's something I think some of you would find somewhat interesting or amusing: a few Japanese idols/performers wearing Love Live cosplays as their stage costumes.

Arisugawa Hinaki - China Dress Eli

Kato Ikumi - Taisho Romance Rin

It's kind of sad to see that there is so much drama going on in the LL community.

I guess since I'm your average dude, I kinda forgot girls could be so catty. Geez
>>
>>10156928
In general, you see that kind of thing with Love Live groups more than other groups. Not because they're girls (most of us are and we seem to get along mostly fine), but because 1) it attracts a younger audience, 2) group sizes have to be large by default, so less organization and a higher chance of just taking literally anyone to fill a role, and 3) for a lot of people, it's their introduction to the idol world (or their only knowledge of it). Those three things combined have the potential to cause massive drama and I honestly don't know a LL group that isn't filled with drama. It's what has kept me away from auditioning for any in my area despite really liking the franchise and songs.

That's too bad. Whenever I hear about idolmaster cosplayers they're always in a different country to me. I've joined a group myself recently with a mix of the different series and it's always nice to find others and expand now that Love Live is starting to die out here. I wish you guys the best of luck.

I mean idk, if I come to realize I won't have enough then I might open the idea.

And definitely not going to restrict myself to just iM@S. There is the male Bandori group, and just general music ideas that interest me too.

Bunn3 does this, too! I find it really cute, honestly.

Why do I get the feeling that if any western idols did this everyone would shit all over them

>>10157412
because western idols are unpopular weeb wannabes and that would contribute to that perception.

As a fan and a wannabe idol, this will remain true unless a large number of them suddenly get famous and noticed either in japan or the west. Odds are these paths will go literally nowhere and they’ll die off in a few more years.

>>
Lmfao @ all yall who think the only ppl who got in were friends w idolized... did y’all just not read the rules for the event??? It was first come first served, they can only take what’s submitted so if you want non LL represented then... apply w something else or quit your bitching.

AB gets grant funding from several Japanese cultural societies to run the con which means w few exceptions all of their official content needs to be from Japanese sources so yes applying to the showcase w something not from Japan is a good way to not get accepted. This is the case across the board for all of their events & ain’t anything new.

Literally NO ONE was making fun of Luka backstage, she slayed & everyone was super supportive so maybe don’t talk out of your ass? & honestly i’d love to see some of y’alls cowardly asses up on that stage in front of the whole con & see how well *you* do. I dont think any of us are under the impression that we’re “real” idols, we just wanna dance & have fun. AB doesn’t have the space for dance meetups anymore so the “safe space” refers to “not being trampled by other attendees/causing a fire hazard in the halls” not the typical uwu safe space. I will say that even w the groups I have beef w things felt decent/civil backstage but ymmv
>>
>>10157581
You've probably seen me on stage so don't flatter yourself on being better. The showcase did not give fair opportunities or representation of the idol talent that was present at AB. Instead of complaining, maybe listen to the community you claim to love yet leave many excluded and unwelcomed.
>>
Where did I say I was better? I’m talking abt the people saying the whole event was a flop who don’t understand what it takes to go out on stage; everyone there did their best & if that ain’t enough for ya then...go off I guess? But don’t complain about elitism.

Everyone who wanted a spot in it had a fair shot of getting in as long as their group met the Japanese origin requirement. If you want to showcase kpop/western idol groups AB ain’t the right venue for it.
>>
can we just throw the whole thread out?
>>
>>10157598
Your missing the whole point but good luck with AB idol showcase ever taking off now. None will want to perform at a showcase who fakes inclusivity and refuses to recognize idols outside of girls dressing up as fake characters.

How could anyone from the group think they're acting like actual idols by whining on here? Most embarrassing behavior.
>>
I mean... if groups were content/quality screened like the masq then y’all’d be crying even more about favoritism? So I’m not sure what could be more “fair” than having things be first come, first served w a well advertised application time. What did you have in mind? I’d encourage you to reach out to staff w feedback bc they’re going to be especially receptive to it given that the event is still in its first year. I can appreciate that having Idolized host might have had a chilling effect on apps but it seems like everyone’s got beef w someone in this comm so the odds of running into ppl/groups one didn’t like was pretty high regardless of one’s thoughts on Idolized in particular. Fwiw I don’t think staff was aware of their rep until after it was announced they’d be hosting... CTCon is more multifandom & doesn’t have $$ earmarked for specific content & they’re holding a similar event that’s broader so I’d encourage you to apply to that if you’re local!

I love mosuri's mimi birthday post it's very cute
>>
>>10156802
From what I saw on Julily's insta, the shorter backup dancer choreographed the whole thing with/for her so i'm not sure that the dancers looked awkward but rather just had a totally different style. Julily actually seemed to be the one who was the least precise in how she did the moves, but her idol-like stage presence and way she moves a little more intensely made her look like she was doing better than she actually was.

I'm probably just biased because I loved the other performances the backup dancers did and thought they were really strong performers throughout the weekend. Julily posted the week before the performance that they made the choreo, so I'm going to assume it was all just a bit rushed. Outfit was super cute and I agree that it needs a little sparkle, timbs would be really good with some other outfits but just not this one. It also looks like there are no cups sewn into the top and she should probably get that done so she has proper support cause dancing without it is no bueno.

The festival at Tekko was way better than any others I've seen, there was only one LL song and it was a strong soloist who sang it so I was just finding myself pleasantly surprised by most of the performers. Whole thing just needs more wotas and it'll be amazing.
>>
>>10158137
Anything other than stars!!

I’ve seen a few gemstone themed groups, but they haven’t been consistent with their branding/are RP groups. A mature, maybe slightly sexy jewel group would be incredible.

A Broadway jazz/tap style group would be super cute, as well!! Think of all the top hats and chorus girl outfits that would be possible. You could make it either cute or Chicago-style sexy, and I think it would appeal a lot to a Western audience.

Oh, and a Jetsons style group would be adorable. Just buy outfits from Starblinc and you’re all set.
>>
>>10158137
I think a good thing to do is pick a vague concept and do variations of it - just don't go too specific so you don't end up losing all creativity
>>
>>10158143
I liked them too! I'm a fan of Ari.Ki so seeing Ki suddenly come out to be a backup dancer with Julily was amaaazing
The other dancer is the person who organized the whole event along with the dance competition and kpop festival AND made a lot of the choreo for that song, i'm impressed lol

Always nice to see another guy wanting to try their hand at male idol groups. We have it tougher since kpop and hip hop has a grip on the aspiring male talent

As for the local scene got a couple of male idol cover groups but most of the members are girls crossplaying. Still they are well liked

I seen a few cosplayers on bilibili do covers in that. Usually Police Kotori is pretty popular as well because of its sex appeal along with devil set.

Bunn3 went live today and I was honestly impressed with how clean and energetic the performance was.
>>
>>10158357
As long as their dancing is decent enough, does it matter whether they're guys or not? I don't understand that keeps coming up as a detractor.
>>
Question for y'all; What do you think is harder, dancing on stage or dancing for a video? Dancing on stage gives you only 1 chance to not mess things up, and for a video you ofcourse have do-overs. But for a video, you can easily play back the video, and so I get this feeling that you kinda have an obligation to do everything perfect because you have an opportunity to do it over.
>>
>>10158416
Because some people wanna see guys do guys dances instead of seeing girls do them? Just like some people wanna see girls do girl dances. I don’t think it’s necessarily a detractor as much as it’s wanting to seem some variety. Plus when guys and girls do the same dances, the energies are much different just because they are guys or girls.

>>10158459
I personally feel anything regarding recording is a lot harder because of the fact you can do it again. If you mess up, you can kind of get obsessed with it and wear yourself out (I’ve done it with signing). But with being live, there’s more pressure involved. You can work off the energy of everyone else and if you mess up (depending on how bad) it’s easier to just brush it off. But if you mess up you also could end up focusing on it and continuously mess up or screw up your energy.
>>
>>10158459
Cheating a bit, but a recorded performance. On stage is pressure enough, and on video can be hard bc of what >>10158469 said, but a combo of the two? Yikes.
If you mess up you keep playing it back, kicking yourself for not doing better. There's no redo, that performance is done. There's nothing you can do (cause you still gotta post it in spite of that,) so you're just sitting there in self-loathing.
>>
>>10158499
I agree with this. Videos you can just keep redoing until you’re happy with them, and performances if you make a few mistakes nobody will notice unless there’s a diehard fan of you (for originals) or whichever group you’re covering in the audience. But when you want to upload videos of on stage people can replay and notice the mistakes, and for most overseas idols they don’t have the opportunity to perform at that many events and won’t be able to just redo it
>>

I already am rooting for you! Side M is amazing and I really want to see this.

Seems like seishunya is participating in a competition on showroom? Do any other groups do this? What's better, twitch or showroom? I actually learned a lot about showroom from the guide on their IG story
>>
>>10159064
I personally don’t like the idea of using Twitch for non-gaming ventures because that’s what twitch primarily is: a steaming platform. However, Showroom is really only super useful if you’re trying to reach a Japanese audience to an extent. There’s a few English speakers on the app but about 95% of the users are Japanese in Japan.

Unrelated but I wish more idols would use other platforms in general though. Most only stream on Instagram which in itself isn’t a great choice depending on your goals. YouTube does take a lot to stream from, but you can also do it from your phone pretty easily. Facebook live is also super easy too. People rely on Instagram too much these days.
>>
>>10159064

Peachy Parade uploaded a new cover. Looks like they opted to sing and dance to the song this time. What are everyone’s thoughts? I like the venue they picked (the cherry blossoms were a nice touch) but there are times in the video where they’re not quite centered. Other than that, I actually thought the vocals were fairly impressive and the dancing was cute. Needs a bit more polishing here and there but overall pretty alright. Personally, I think it’s a pretty solid cover. Don’t see much of those nowadays.
>>
>>10159164
I was kind of annoyed desu that in the video some were singing into the mic and some were not. Do one or the other, not both. They should have synchronized it with who sang in the cover at what parts. It was cute though.
>>
>>10159164
Agreeing with the previous anon, I think they need to focus on making sure they have mics held up because I honestly couldn’t tell who was singing during some parts which was a shame. I like their vocals though. There’s so many shitty covers with awful singing so I’m pleasantly surprised with how their voices turned out. Pretty cute, overall.
>>
>>10159215
I agree. How could all of them not remember to hold their mic to their mouths while they were dancing? They should have opted out for the mics and just did the mics and remembered to lip sync at their individual/whole group parts. They sounded great, but the lip syincing being off for certain members makes the video confusing to watch.
>>
>>10159333
typo, should have just did without the mics*
>>
>>10159215
Honestly, I personally don’t think it’s too big of a deal. I’ve seen even professional groups forget things like that in their official videos. I don’t think it takes away too much from an otherwise great video. I hope to see them continue to improve, as well.
>>
>>10159164
Since everyone keeps repeating themselves on a rather minor point I have to say I'm actually pretty impressed with this being their first vocal cover since most overseas groups put out really badly mixed stuff tbqh
>>
>>10159164
It's mixed really well and the overall aesthetic is very cute. There voices are all pretty too. I was a little thrown off because one of them wasn't actually mouthing the words and just holding up the mic, and also another one seemed really unsure and kept glancing at the others to figure out her timing or remember dance moves.

All in all it's still worlds better than most of the things that get released. I think they did a great job and hope they release more.
>>
>>10159164
Yeah I'm definitely impressed by the quality of the recording. Even if the dancing wasn't perfect the whole time I was just thinking about how nice it was to hear their voices so cleanly. I think they did a really good job!
>>
>>10159064
Why isn’t seishunya talked about? I feel like there a good example for other groups.
>>
>>10159411
I think its because they have an actual company supporting ans sponsoring them. Their level of professionalism is kind of incomparable to most other groups in the community.
>>
>>10159411
I remember this being asked before and the main reason is because even though they’re overseas, they’re more or less professionally trained and/or backed so they don’t really count to a lot of people. They have financial backing & are a sister group of an actual idol group.
>>
>>10159416
>>10159417
They clearly outline the relationship on Patreon, and if you watch their dance practice broadcasts you can see that they don’t have a professional working with them. Watch Seishun Gakuen on SHOWROOM and you can see that there isn’t lots of money going into them either. I’d give them more credit instead of writing them off.
>>
>>10159411
Pretty much what >>10159416 and >>10159417 said. They're a great example of what overseas girls can accomplish with professional backing, proving that our hobby isn't inherently cringy just because we're not Japanese. But what sets them apart from the rest of the community is the fact that they don't have to have the members make their own music, run their own practices, and handle all the social media. They have trainers and management to do all the behind the scenes stuff, so they just have to focus on improving their own skills. Also I think they practice like, several hours a day a few times a week, which is definitely something to strive for but not always realistic for some people here.
>>
>>10159164
Nitpicks aside, who’s voice did everyone like most? I really like the yellow member, she has an almost sultry tone to her voice that sounded nice to me.
>>
>>10159463
Voice wise, I liked the pink member’s voice a lot. Yeah, it’s a little stereotypically “soft and cute” but not in a way that sounds forced or cringey. It’s nice. I also like the mint member and orange member’s voices. Personally the mint member had pretty strong and clear vocals even though a couple times I had to try to figure out when she was singing due to the whole mic situation.
>>
>>10159411
Personally for me its hard to get into SYA when they feel so disingenuous I guess. Also they're really closed off from OIC stuff
>>
>>10159466
I think if anyone sounds a bit forced it was mint desu, but I’m also just not a fan of the overly cutesy voices in general so that’s probably part of it.

>>10159417 here. I’d like to point out:
>Japanese talent agency NoMake supports us by providing creative direction in the way of any sound or music production (ie. recording, mixing, editing), choreography, and any other management or direction involved.

So like a lot of indie idol groups in Japan, what they make is what they use for their activities. I’m not writing them off (and I don’t think the other anon is either). But the fact of the matter is they DO have some professional backing & what they’re doing isn’t much different from signed indie idol groups or independent idol groups in Japan. We also don’t know how much they make from merchandise & meet and greet sales so we don’t know how much they make OR how much they lose. I actually really enjoy SYA & I’d audition if they ever opened it to allowing people in the USA to audition. But they’re not exactly untied to professional help.
>>
>>10159474
>>10159536
I sorta agree if you ever watch their lives or videos a few girls accidentally slip out of their "cute" voices into their more natural voice. Also some of the stuff they say trying to be cute just sounds cringy. But this applies to a lot of idol groups besides SYA and it probably works if you're legitimately young teens but a lot of OIC are in their twenties or thirties
>>
>>10159164
Pros: huge HUGE improvement from their last singing ventures, went from straight nails on chalkboard to annually pleasant to listen to. They have really improved, my compliments to them and their vocal coach. They of course are cute, I was happy to see a wasuta cover, and also think it's neat that none of the OG three were centers in this vid.

Cons: seems like they could have rehearsed just a tad more before upload because of unevenness and one or two girls looking at the others to figure out what they should be doing, some parts weren't really synced dance wise, and of course some weren't holding their mics when they were singing which was honestly distracting. Also a personal gripe: the lighting in this vid was pretty harsh, there's lots of shadows on them and highlights are blown out. It takes away from the cute soft tone of the group and the song, I'd recommend they have danced on an overcast day or have had something to bounce the light on them like a reflector to make the shadows softer and the overall video brighter for an easier post edit!

I liked it!! Can't wait to see more!

>>
my local con is bringing cinderella girls cosplayers to perform and be “idols” at the con. As a massive idolm@ster fan, I’m excited, but on the other side, not all of these people shout confidence to me so I worry a bit? I also don’t regocnize half of the cosplays, most of the wigs really don’t look like the characters which seems kinda meh for an official group. Not gonna fully judge them till I see what they actually do, and if they’re gonna act as the characters as well.

What are you guys’ thoughts on cosplay cover groups as idols for a convention? They’re doing a meet and greet as well
>>
>>10160243
Posting another picture of some of them in actual cosplay
>>
>>10160243
I'm kind of torn about it. On one hand, it's understandable that an anime convention would consider the cosplay aspect as a plus - they already usually bring in cosplay guests, and cosplay is a huge part of any convention. It's also understandable why a group would choose to be a cosplay cover group, because the truth is you'll always get more attention doing stuff that people already know and love. It's hard to sell people on "new" and original stuff, so cosplaying beloved characters and doing dances that people already know to songs they know and love will get you attention.

On the other hand, it does bother me because it's more cosplay than idol. It pulls the concept of an overseas idol away from its roots from Japanese idol performers, and pushes it towards the idea of a cosplayer who learns anime dances. The result of that is stuff like Anime Boston's idol showcase (or was it someone else's?) where you weren't accepted unless you were cosplaying someone. Girls who sing and dance as themselves, trying to market their natural looks and personalities, sometimes even their own original songs, get ignored in favor of cosplay dance "idols". I recognize that makes me sound kinda salty and jealous. To some extent, I am. It was a problem I recognized when I used to sell in artists' alleys, where fanart always sold more than original prints and works. People want more of what they already know, and while I don't blame cosplay dancers for grabbing that opportunity, I'm not entirely comfortable with conventions bringing them in as "idol" guests.
>>
>>10160252
Anime conventions are for anime, so it makes sense that they want to have anime based groups.
The idol stuff only gets a niche in anime cons because there is not enough people into it to spin off. If it ever gets big enough to create it's own events I think that is the day original idol stuff might get more of a foothold.
>>
>>10160299
>Anime conventions are for anime, so it makes sense that they want to have anime based groups

This is the dirty truth: anime cons are probably going to prioritize idol anime cosplayers because cosplays and anime is the convention's main pull.
Out of curiosity, did a lot of original idols apply to that idol showcase? I don't fully understand the situation.

What groups that interact with them think that. To me, it’s at least that they can speak fluently and not just “watashi wa kawaii desu” like most weebs in the community so I don’t really mind the accent, fake or not
>>
>>10160329
are any of us not mediocre weebs
>>
>>10160329
>literally all western idols
>>
>>10160329
Dude you're literally on a thread for mediocre weebs on a board about mediocre weebs lol. I feel like this complaint comes up at least once a thread but none of us here are professionals and we're all just trying to be the best we can be. SYA is better than most because they put in the time and effort, but if you're looking for real Japanese idols then this isn't the board for it.
>>
>>10160329
Are they rich? How would you know...
>>
>>10160318
That clarifies it a little. I wonder if that had anything to do with this ~idolized drama~ or not.

>>10160329
I'm a degenerate, Anon. I would still >l-lewd both of them. They're cute in an uglydoll way.
>>
>>10160466
I am apparently so blinded by my degeneracy that I fucked up my greentext. Please shame me accordingly, anons.

Anyway, with summer coming up, does everyone expect more group debuts? Does it seem like more cons are hosting idol fests to anyone else or is it just burgerland?
>>
>>10160450
They've been living with their parents with no jobs? Lol
>>
>>10160477

Just like a lot of overseas idols lmao? It's hard to have a job and your own place and also devote hours a day to anything. It doesn't make them any worse than anyone else.
>>
>>10160468
All I’ve seen are soloists recently
>>
>>10160483
yeah except they're in their thirties now
>>
>>10160582
And why exactly should we be mad about it? Because you have a vendetta? Say something relevant
>>
>>10160329
Dude we're all mediocre weebs.
This is just a passion and hobby for us, we're not looking to change the world.
Chill.
>>
>>10160582
So? I'm about to be 30 soon. I live with my parents. It's cheaper and I can take care of them and not have to wonder if someone is abusing them.
Piss off.
>>
>>10160606
Quit making a fuss you're 30
I think what anon is saying isn't that living with your parents is bad exactly but that living with your parents and not working because you're being a weeb is to which i say that depends.
If your parents are rich then make use of that while you can lol
>>
>>10160582
There's no way they're 30
>>
I don't think there is anything wrong with living with your parents. I'm 25 and living with mine just because I'm saving up for a place as I'm moving soon. The problem is if you don't have a job and rely on your parents for everything and don't have a job.
>>
>>10159876
Nails on a chalkboard? Are you sure? They’ve always sounded pretty decent from what I can tell based on old live shows. At least when I saw them live at AkaiCon it was alright.
>>
Maybe this is an underrated opinion, but I truly think some of these net-idols would thrive if they ditched the J-idol concept and tried something with a mix of J-Pop/Western mainstream feels.

Also imo, bunn3 is one of the only valid western net-idol groups, their visuals are great
>>
>>10161532
You mean their Love Live outfits are great? I think their page looks nice but they don’t sing, and they’ve only done Love Live dances, so I don’t really think they’re valid “idols”.
>>
>>10161532
>>10161593
I agree, I like their social media presence but they don’t sing so I wouldn’t call them idols but odorites

also you can support a group without having to put other groups down. I am tired of seeing posts like this

Does anyone have any advice for complete beginners? Tips or links to
videos or anything?

My biggest tip is just to practice! Tons of people get too caught up in the sparkly fun parts of this and completely neglect their singing and dancing skills. Set yourself a practice schedule where you treat it like a class or sport, so you learn consistency and how to keep going even when there's no motivation. Look up tutorials for singing properly and learn how to record your progress. OIC discord has a good channel for critique. Finally, be really open to constructive criticism without writing it off as "haters" or jealousy. All the fun stuff - cute outfits, photoshoots, etc. will be a lot more rewarding and cute if you've got the base skills to back it up.

What are you aiming to do primarily? Dancing, singing, covers, original works, live performances, online uploads, etc.?

>>10161630 makes a good point! Also, too many aspiring idols/groups get caught up in making art, selfies or aesthetic posts on Instagram and hyping up their future release/performance that they're "practicing really hard" for and wind up doing absolutely nothing beyond making a neat-looking but dead Instagram page. It would probably be a good idea to have something substantial prepared to release before you even set up or promote any social media.
>>
>>10161655
I was thinking maybe eventually doing cover videos and performances? I have a decent amount of experience singing, but I'm awful at dancing and general stage presence.
>>
>>10161667
There's no shame in starting with easier dances. A lot of Love Live is beginner level idol dance, and even though it gets shit on a lot in the idol community, I'd rather see a well-done Love Live dance than a messy, half learned difficult dance. It might be worth seeing if there are any free dance classes for adults in your area. Any sort of dance experience will translate into better dance covers even if it's a totally different genre.

Damn, looking more into bunn3 it seems like they don't actually qualify(?) as an idol group, but their visuals and social media presence are definitely on point. I think there's potential there!

Also was their "we just got back from Japan" post photoshopped or is that just a joke I don't get
>>
PS this is the photo I was referring to. Don't know if photoshopped or the lighting is just throwing me off. Thoughts?

do any gulls have any experience in graphic design, specifically logo making? kinda wanted to commission my own cute net idol logo but i haven't been able to find anybody who can do it :<

I'd love to design your logo, but I'm not really sure how to post myself on 4chan lol

>>
>>10161897
That's totally photoshopped. And really bad at that. I'm pretty sure their the ones self posting about how valid they are too. I've never heard to them until they started getting random praise on here.
>>
>>10162065
Do you have anywhere you keep a portfolio of your work/any logo examples? ^^
>>
>>10162067

ACTUALLY im the anon who was praising them before, i wanna clarify i don't think they were self-posting here, I just wanted to mention they were a group that stood out to me :^/

Though I was corrected, they aren't exactly an "idol group"
>>
>>10161893

they...they don't even have shadows...
>>

what was the point
>>
>>10161655
What the fuck is up with the girl in the bottom left? She looks freaky.

>Aikan - Pretty Face (Original)
Okay so 2 of the voices sound really nice but one of them is so fucking off key, whoever that is needs singing lessons or they need to edit her voice more.

The mixing of the actual song is kinda poor too but it has potential. but the picture they chose for the video is uh... questionable.
>>
>>10161532
I think their insta feed is cute but they're lacking as group. I don't consider them idols because they don't sing, they're just another cosplay group.

and didn't one of them quit the group?

>>10162205
She did and then she came back.

Danzoo Dash uploaded a video from a festival they performed at.
I think it’s pretty sloppy, especially their purple members.
https://youtu.be/RfJQ33FKsTA

And then a new song cover from Mosuri’s Calina, sounds alright.
https://youtu.be/oTNan1LTSMA

Along with a dance cover (also Mosuri) from earlier in the week, which is just a shitty Love Live cover.
https://youtu.be/EeYj4Zu6jaE

I’m not sure how I feel about their new video intros, it seems kind of tacky to me.
>>
>>10161655
damn, do those starlight sugar girls come from money? that girl in red is a real looker too. her visuals are strong.
>>
>>10162665
Calina is so cringy to me. Platonic Girl is my favorite song that Wasuta did and though I like that she did an English cover, the way she sung it was just...cringe. Her whole idol persona is. And it in turn bleeds over into her group.

Also yeah im not a fan of having an idol group post cosplay stuff. Seems like an easy out to me. If youre an original idol group....why are you posting cosplay content??? Idk I just don't like it.
>>
>>10162665
>And then a new song cover from Mosuri’s Calina, sounds alright.
I feel like this cover could have been a LOT better if she didn't do this shit where she tries to sing in 3 different voices. Did she only translate this song because she kept getting shit here for her japanese pronunciation?
>>
>>10162203
This group needs to drop off the face of the planet lol they're kinda like flusay to me
But aside from my overall opinion this song was mixed especially bad compared to their other stuff
>>
>>10162665
Oh god, Calina absolutely butchered the hell out of that song. And the fact that she split herself into three different people? personalities? Just seems so off to me. Her whole shtick is cringey and offputting—not to mention her singing always seems awkward to me. It’s better than some of her Japanese covers but holy hell, girl needs to either learn how to mix properly, or find someone to mix for her.
>>
>>10162665
>only one of these has over 100 views, and barely
Who the fuck even browses these threads?
>this thread has 108 posters
Wtf how, there’s such little content around and what little there is isn’t even big, these numbers are weird.
>>
>>10162665
I...actually really like this. The art is cute (even though i'm pretty sure it's from a generator), the sound quality is good, I like the idea (although it would probably be hard to pull off irl) and she has a lot of personality in her voice.
>>
>>10162665

that Danzoo Dash vid is just awkward to watch... Why does it seem like they didn't practice together at all

Looking towards your band mates during a dance is an instant sign that they didn't practice enough imo
>>
>>10162742
I agree, it really is super awkward to watch. the clips from the two different areas tells me this was sloppily thrown together as well, it’s likely they just went for it and figured they’ll edit out the worst parts
>>
>>10162721
might be alot of phoneposters. my ip will often change by the time i make a new post so it will count me as a new poster.
>>
>>10162665
I'm also not a fan of the new video intros. While the other ones were awkward, these ones are pretty much branding them as LARPers. Like, the only idols who would have that sort of video game loading screen are mobile game idols, and if they're trying to be real idols... branding themselves with such a cosplay-ish label is not a good move for them.

It's a well-done intro, but I don't think it's the image they should be going for at all.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYbpPpiSVwQ
I haven't cringed this much at a performance/video in a while.
>>
>>10162831
I hardly even recognize the dance. They portrayed it that badly. Lol
>>
>>10162831
God, I've seen these girls on Insta before and they REALLY need to fix their image. Like the dancing is one thing but their overall aesthetic really just adds to the cringe. They need to do something with their hair or at least get wigs (That one with the black socks has one hell of a forehead), and get some flattering outfits. Is that one black glove meant to be an accessory? It makes her look like she has carpal tunnel.

Also, for the love of god, avoid 'sexy' dances if you aren't an experienced performer.
>>
>>10162677
>>10162698
Am I missing something? I just heard it and I thought it wasn't bad. Maybe because I haven't heard the original but I thought the concept was cute and the singing wasn't THAT terrible?
Maybe I have shit taste but I enjoyed it
>>
>>10162677
Personally, it’s an okay concept but it’s so poorly executed. It’d be one thing if she were a voice actor or was at least good at differentiating voices but it’s just like she tried to slightly alter her voice and it’s just not good.
>>
Anyone know what's up with this? It's a brand new group.
>>
>>10162844
WOW that really didn't last long at all. I only just heard about that group starting up a week or two ago and he already bailed lmaoooo what happened

Not to mention that these girls have put an excuse in the video description of why it's bad. IMO that's one of the worst things to do when posting something; if you're not confident in it to the point where you need to make an excuse, what's the point of posting it at all?

One wish performing boombayah:
>>
>>10162891
Appearance is an important part of being an idol, and for the most part everyone here stays away from criticizing stuff you can't easily fix. Makeup and styling, though, is always something that can be improved on because that's more of a talent than an inherent personal trait. Jenny has the potential to be really pretty, but she desperately needs bangs, and when doing her makeup, should make her eyes look more open and do something to her brows so they're visible. So I agree with the anon you're responding to. She's not ugly, but her style needs work.
>>
>>10162891
AYRT, I don't even know the girls in the group, I'm just saying they need to do something with their image. They could be the best dancers in the world (They also need to work on that but at least they acknowledged it I guess >>10162896 )
but having poor styling and mismatched outfits will make them look shoddy no matter what.

Being a successful net idol group means working on the whole package, including appearances.
>>
>>10162649
honestly, previous anon and those they are referencing are vastly undercharging. someone with proper training should be charging 200/minute of song, at least.
>>
>>10162900
So many love live performances just look like a bunch of monkeys bouncing around on stage. Very little formation and technique.
>>
>>10162924

He didn’t bail, he just didn’t make the cut as far as auditions go. He has a fantastic voice!
>>
>>10163012
I'm confused if he didn't make auditions how was he in the group to begin with
>>
>>10161593
they did sing at a recent performance, but again it was mostly love live and in love live cosplay
>>
>>10163012
I'm confused how could he have been let go from the group when they announced their introductions. I thought that meant he was a permanent member. Anywho he might have not been ready to be in a group at the end. I know plenty of people who have started or been in groups and shortly left because they didn't realize the reality of what it meant.
>>
>>10162900
Wow, that MC job was as grating as one anon said before. Also this Nozomi has shown little to no improvement since their 1, 2, jump video was posted here the first time
>>
>>10162831
Oh yeah, the girl in the lighter colored skirt is Holly from Flusay Girls. Her dancing is so goddamn stiff and sporadic, I hate it. I'm not sure who thought it was a good idea for her to do Boombayah of all songs. Jenny at least kind of seems like she knows what's going on. I don't know what to say about the other girl.
>>
>>10162831
Truth is while Holly and Jenny at least try, Grace is just lazy. She doesn’t practice or take care of her appearance and she needs to cut her hair or at least play with it. They’re probably better off without her.
>>
>>10163121
Careful last time people commented on her hair she went around posting about cutting 6inch off
>>
>>10162896

Hang on, they say this as though their group just got together but they've been uploading for at least a year. I can understand teething issues for their first performance, but for this long?
>>
>>10163251
Also, don’t forget they’ve only been posting for a year as One Wish. Holly and Jenny were also part of Crystal Rose/CR UK.
>>
So a question that I want everyone's thoughts on. I hear a lot about net idol groups needing to change things up to appeal to Western audiences. What kinds of things do you think would appeal more to a western audience?
>>
>>10163334
I feel more mature lyrics and songs (more than just gambatte or mutual love) will help. A overall sexy or mature concept, when done right and like Predia, might also go down well. These groups hear “idol” and immediately go cute without realizing that’s not necessarily what’s popular anymore.
>>
>>10163334
I mean singing in English rather than Japanese covers could help...? Even if just translyrics with the usual dance and such.
>>
>>10163452
Only a good idea if the lyrics are actually decent translations and not absolute cringefests.
>>
>>10163640
Speaking of that, I love SYA, but their English songs' translations are really awkward.
>>
>>10163640
That's mostly opinion though I feel like. Also I'm kinda torn because most events prefer you to sing in Japanese and not perform in english. When it comes to cons n stuff I mean.
>>
did anyone attend the Toracon dance showcase?
>>
>>10163360
I feel like they should go cute and mature if that makes any sense, whenever I think of cute mature I think of some of the orange caramel songs and Ariana grande, (I know there's a word for this particular look but I don't know it), where the clothes they wear are cute and usually throwbacks to the 90's but they're also sexy at the same time.
>>
>>10163772
Ooh, yeah I know what you mean. Cute but not uguu kawaii child cute. Trendy, mature cute. Group or song recommendations?
>>
>>10163804
Not a netidol, but I think Pinkfantasy's Iriwa would fit this description? Darker/mature concept but still cute
>>
>>10163804
I think FAKY and BiSH
>>
>>10163452
>I mean singing in English rather than Japanese covers could help
if you want to stay true to your roots then doing a song that is a mix of japanese and english might work better. that way you dont alienate your audience.
>>
>>10164447

i guess that'd be better than singing just in Japanese, considering most of these net-idols really aren't good at it
>>
>>10164480
true, but at the same time, how many people in the audience are familiar enough with japanese to tell the difference?
>>
>>10163804

>>
>>10164447
I don’t think this will go over well. The best option is having a song with an English version and a Japanese version. Although not a super good example, we’ve seen groups like KRP & Minty Pop do songs with Japanese words/phrases/stanzas and it just comes out bad. At least with two versions, they can vary slightly because of region and you alienate no one.
>>
Not sure if this is entirely related as I don't know if people in this are going to be singing, but there's a new bang dream fandub and some of their picks for the actors are..... terrible to say the least

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz9Od_JOGjo
>>
>>10164759
It’s never good when the response to videos is “thanks but that’s not our focus”. Also don’t understand how people are so dead when acting? Even the original has some emotion behind the monotone sound.
>>
>>10164874
i think it’s just harder than people realize to voice act

it’s the same with singing. you really have to overact, a lot more than you would if you were acting on video. because you are losing the body language, which adds a ton of meaning. people new to voice acting (and singing with emotion) just tend to underdo it at first

anyways this doesn’t belong here
