There are more 2-day GA tickets available!

How many people are planning on going to pre-event swap meet?
>>
When do we know what brand we’re modeling for?
>>
>>10152459
Did you receive an email stating that you were on the model list? If so, I imagine you'll have to wait and see if anyone picks you and, if so, paradiso staff will email. I'm in the same waiting boat, anon.

I missed out on buying the two day tickets. If anyone wants to transfer I'd be willing to buy. HMU Please.
>>
>>10152474

Nayrt but this email? I’m dying to know and there’s now barely a month left. Hopefully we know soon!
>>
>>10152495
dropped email
>>
>>10152498
Ayrt, I did mean that email; I feel the same way and hope we'll know soon! Did you show interest in any particular brands?
>>
>>10153102

IDD and triple fortune were my first two choices. Not really expecting much but you always hope haha! Good luck to you as well, hopefully we can both meet at the fashion show!
>>
I was excited for daydreamung goldfish but they only let you the order the plus size version? What the fuck. Do they think everyone in america is fat?
>>
>>10153738
that's literally not true you fucking retard
>>
>>10153753
>>
>>10153346
That would be great! Here's hoping.
>>
>>10153753
Afaik, you can preorder either size. I really wish they were going to have physical stock at the event.
>>
>>10153753
Apparently I am retarded because I dropped my pic. But I doubt the event organizer would lie.

Entitled much? I feel bad for the rest of the Golden ticket holders who have to sit with her.
>>
>>10153785
That was the one that kept begging for a ticket, right? Oof.
>>
>>10153819
Yep. She originally had a ticket and sold it. Then when AP was announced she started spamming the FB page begging to buy a ticket.
>>
>>10153833
and she sold her ticket originally because the 2nd comm is butthurt about years old drama and doesn't want anyone to go to paradiso.

i really wish nobody had sold her a golden ticket. she's insane.
>>
>>10152454
I'm really excited! I plan on going to the swap meet but not sure if I'm going to bring anything to sell.

>>10153785
This chick seems uber annoying and the level of entitlement is unbearable. Karaoke is a thing that requires your own tab anyway. Seems like Paradiso just booked the reservation. Also just by looking at all her posts in the group, she seems like a total piece of work. I'm am confused on how/why she got ticket that requires her to be 21.
>>
>>10154148
Iirc the ticket was $250+ as well. Is she just trying to flex?
>>
>>10154173
she's pretty much always trying to flex, it seems. she seems to constantly be buying stuff instead of actually working on herself as a person
>>
>>10154011
I'm pissy af because I'm over 21 and was excited for the 21+ events her ass can't even attend. I'm worried next Paradiso won't have any 21+ events due to this sort of whining.
>>
>>10154148
When and where is the swap meet?
>>
>>10154746
Liberty room at the Westin.
>>
>>10154862
7-9 on Friday. Sorry replied to soon.
>>
Anyone heard anything about the fashion show yet? They said they'd send out emails this month, and this month is almost over...
>>
>>10154945
I haven't. I'd actually be ok with not being in it now that I think about it. I can sleep in later, shop longer and hang out with my friends.
>>
>>10154945
I did a while back, you’re probably not in it.
>>
>>10155222

Receipts? You can block out names, I just would like to see it to believe it.
>>
>>10154945

I took the liberty of looking at last year's threads and it appears literally around this time people started getting emails. So there's hope for us yet.
>>

I've only seen posts from models for Triple Fortune. I'll maybe start worrying if I start seeing posts for other brands
>>
>>10155220

Yeah on the bright side I would be able to squeeze in two OTT coordinates instead of one. Im usually a lonelita (due to location) and this would be a great way to meet other lolitas too.

On the other hand all I want is an IDD dress and this might be my best chance to buy one. So I’d be sort of sad.
>>
>>10155706
Does anyone know how many people 3F picked? I'm wondering how many looks each designer will show.
>>
>>10155775
I want to hope that brand designers get more looks than the 500 indie designers also in the show. Half of them aren't even lolita.
>>
>>10155709
Yea I'm really looking forward to the shopping and I'm worried if I do get picked to model, I won't have much time to shop.
I'm also looking to make new friends who don't come with drama and baggage. I have almost no patience for it these days

Can we maybe talk about the actual event?? Like where are some good places to get lunch? How picked over do the booths get by the time the VIPs are done shopping? Which designers and vendors are you most excited for?
>>
>>10157309
curious about this stuff as well, esp the vendor stock leftovers after the VIPs and models are done. anyone who has gone previous years, what was shopping for you like?
>>
>>10157311
Last year there was still tons of stuff by the time I looked after the fashion show. I know dream holic ended up selling all their stock.
I hope the vendor area is spacious this year.
>>
>>10157309
kc native here.

not as much good food near downtown desu, I recommend staying away from downtown and especially staying away from power and light district. it's pricey and mediocre, plus that's where the dudebros go so higher chances of people being awful. midtown/westport is a cooler area with better food.

>friends sushi and bento (closed sundays)
>vietnam cafe (there's two, both are good, I like the one on 39th the most)
>jerusalem cafe (the one on pennsylvania)
>gojo's japanese steakhouse
>arthur bryants is best bbq but joe's kansas city, jack stack, and q39 are good too
>taqueria mexico (the one on rainbow)

that's all I have right now, if any anons want recommendations let me know of a specific kind of food you want and I'll do my best.
>>
>>10157443
Are there any bubble tea places?
>>
>>10157448
there are, but all of the ones in the city itself are trash. don't go to tea drops or bohbuh. I don't like dragonfly tea zone but others do. I highly recommend fat bee and kung fu tea, but they're about 20 miles out. but for what it's worth, I make the drive there from near the venues regularly, because it's that good.
>>
>>10157443
me again, I fucked up jerusalem cafe is on westport rd not pennsylvania. it's the one that doesn't have and bakery in the name.

So I somehow weaseled my way into modeling for AP.

As someone who has never modelled for a major brand before....what are some tips for the runway?
>>
>>10158765
Be sure to take your time when walking. It'll be over in a second so try to count time in your head when holding your poses!
>>
>>10158765
Make sure to pay attention to your arm movement, don’t flail them around like a sped. And try and move naturally, there are some models that get chosen that are so stiff it’s unpleasant to watch.
>>
>>10158788
Seconding this, you're probably gonna get nervous and walk too fast/rush your poses, so take slow breathes and walk more slowly than your average pace. If anything, if you're a little slower than other models, it's better than being too fast. Also practice your poses in front of a mirror, a lot, while walking so that if feels natural to "step into them".

Also, if you're not being provided shoes by AP, make sure you don't bring knockoffs like antaina or bodyline, and if they do provide socks/tights for you do NOT walk around in them without shoes on in order to keep them clean.
>>
>>10158808
>only owns offbrand/bodyline shoes
What do I do? Should I try to buy some AP ones? I dont even know the dress I'll be modeling to match them...
>>
>>10158815
Offbrand shoes are better than knockoffs. Bodyline shoes are knockoffs.
>>
>>10158765
Proper runway form is stepping heel first, toe second. When setting your foot down walk in a direct line with your feet will switching hip to hip. Square your shoulders and set your posture well. Head slightly up. Tongue touching the roof of your mouth helps with your jaw look. Look up runway videos and practice beforehand.
>>
>>10158820
>>10158815
AP requires models to wear AP shoes.
Go buy some, or try to arrange to borrow some from a friend.
>>
>>10158815
You don't even own AP shoes and you wanted to model for them?
>>
>>10158815
I’m surprised they didn’t say but they always want AP shoes. Better get shopping
>>
>>10158765

Recently modeled for Moitie, here's some things I learned:

I also recommend watching a few Youtube videos on how to walk/pose for the runway (even better if you look up past Lolita brand fashion shows to get ideas). I'd say it's good to have a total of 3-5 poses down before rehearsal and try to make them look as natural as possible. During rehearsal & the actual show, be very aware of where you're stepping as sometimes the lights become blindingly bright. Try to look like you're happy to be there--there's a fine balance between looking fashion model-fierce and looking straight up serious-gloomy. I also find that if you walk TOO quickly, you're more likely to lose your footing.

Congrats on making it in!
>>
Last year I didn't get my modeling confirmation until May 9th, so I'm still not too stressed. There are a lot of designers picking from the pool and busy planning looks for them.
>>
>>10158820
>>10159008
>>10159033
>>10159036
100% not trying to defend myself because I know I'm a cheap-ass hobolita but the reason I've never bought AP shoes is because I havent seen significant quality difference and I dont particularly love current designs. I have a closet full of brand but any penny-pinching I can get away with, I do.

I'd be willing to buy AP shoes for the show but I'd need to know theyd match the dress I was wearing. Should I buy generic "match all" white shoes? What are the odds they will provide me with shoes? My feet are about average size.

What happens if I show up in offbrand shoes? Will they not let me walk? No where in the email or model application does it say I need to bring my own AP shoes but now all of you anons have me panicked
>>
>>10159467

For the Moitie fashion show fitting we were told to bring both white and black pairs of shoes, I don't think they will provide you with shoes unless you're really lucky & another model happens to bring an extra pair and lets you borrow them. It would probably look better to bring brand shoes, but maybe generic white shoes will still work. If in doubt, contact the person who sent you the acceptance email.
>>
>>10159036
NAYRT but its actually pretty unprofessional to expect models to have brand shoes and not explicitly state it somewhere in the application process. i have walked for fashion shows many times and they always clearly state whether or not shoes will be provided, and if not what color/style/brand you will need to bring. on top of that, its pretty stupid to expect people to have matching footwear for a runway look that you havent seen.
>>
>>10159467
All AP show requirements I've seen before have had models provide their own shoes, so I doubt they will provide them this time. If you're really that cheap you could wear reps if they don't say the off brand name. I know I've accidently bought some tea parties that have the AP logo on the inside. I would say just suck it up and buy brand shoes or decline to model for them and let someone who actually supports the brand model.
>>
>>10159479
>let someone who actually supports the brand model
Oh get over yourself. As if buying shit shoes is the only way to support the brand
>>
>>10159477
Thanks anon! When I meant white shoes, I did mean AP ones. I just need to track some down.

>>10159479
I'd be so embarrassed showing up in replicas, honestly. I'd rather wear offbrand shoes of generic design, or spend for the AP shoes. I just dont know which color because I dont know the dress I will be modelling.

>>10159485
Original honolita anon here! I do support the brand, and own many many AP pieces. Shoes and certain types of jewelry are the only things I hold off on because of penny pinching reasons.
If I have to buy shoes, I will. It's just a matter of finding some that are safe enough to match the dress I'm wearing without actually knowing the dress.
>>
>>10159485
nayrt but you're implying that not owning AP shoes means you dont support the brand at all, and that you are bold enough to assume that your shit opinion about this would actually matter to anyone at AP
>>
>>10159490
If they ask you to wear AP shoes, you should wear AP shoes. People who cnt follow directions shouldn't be models.
>>
>>10159467
Just buy their glitter shoes in gold. That'll match most everything they put you in this season.
https://angelicpretty-onlineshop.com/product/party%e3%82%b0%e3%83%aa%e3%83%83%e3%82%bf%e3%83%bc%e3%82%b7%e3%83%a5%e3%83%bc%e3%82%ba-2/
>>
>>10159641
Nayrt but they didn't specify that models for AP would need shoes on brand. Some people may know this is a common trend for AP, but since this is the first time anon has modeled for them it's likely they just did know.
>>
>>10159647
Samefag but didn't know.
>>
>>10159642
They're sold out lmao
>>
>>10159641
Original anon again....nowhere in any post did I say I was unwilling to buy shoes. I dont know why anons are assuming that.

I was only caught off guard because this is the first time I've modelled for them and I just never thought about a shoes rule.

My struggle isnt "I dont want to wear AP shoes" but rather "how can I get AP shoes that will match the dress if I dont know which dress I'm modelling?"
>>
>>10159843
Email them and ask what dress you're wearing or get something versatile. It's not this hard anon.
>>
>>10159843
Just buy AP shoes that match your wardrobe the most. Your options are limited anyways since so many sizes and colors are OOS constantly. Pretty sure they'll provide shoes or switch the dress if it's really necessary
>>
>>10159853
Nayrt, but you know they often don't decide who wears what until the day of, right? I've also heard of models switching dresses. Anon should just go on LM or fril or whatever and buy white shoes or something.
>>
>>10159863
Nayrt, but most designers pick models based on the dresses they are showing. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'd be surprised if they didn't at least have an idea of what each model will be wearing when they decide.
>>
>>10159870
This is true but it's flexible. I've been assigned dresses before but gotten them swapped the morning of the fashion show.
>>
>>10159843
I'm in the same shoe scramble boat, anon. I've never modeled for AP and didnt know about the shoe thing. I'm just going to buy a few pairs that suit my wardrobe and just hope for the best.

I have modeled for other fashion shows before and models were either provided shoes or asked to bring specific shoes, so yes, this whole "dont specifically say but everyone knows you have to bring ap shoes" thing is foreign to me from the rest of my modeling experiences.
>>
>>10159694
My bad. Their site is misleading saying it's not. AP USA has some. So does AP Paris.
>>
>>10159891
I only know about the shoe requirement because I've seen the application for past shows. It's really on Paradiso for not stating it in the application.
>>
>>10159896

Honestly there were a number of things on the application that rubbed me the wrong way

>only facial shots required with no full body shots
>ranking system, which seems fair at first glance but must be an algorithmic nightmare to sort through
>not including specific instructions for brands, like AP who historically wants models to bring their own AP shoes and wigs

Not going to inspect it past that but I guess it’s like sausage making. I’m just glad I’m not in charge of the model applications desu
>>
>>10159910
I was weirded out that there was no body shot requirement, but they did ask for social media posts so they could see more photos there I guess.
>>
>>10159910
Samefag, but the ranking also makes sense because there's a billion brands in the show. It wouldn't be that hard to filter the requests to the correct brands.
>>
>>10159914

It does, but it’s a process that’s hard to do completely fairly. I suppose that you can do it by wave - people who rank a brand #1 are sorted to the designers who decide what they want out of that wave, before going on to people who ranked brands #2, etc.

I also don’t remember a spot for social media, but I put it in comments.
>>
>>10159843
There are a lot of AP shoes on Lacemarket. I suggest going with a neutral color.
>>
>>10159910
From what I hear, the brands only got to see people who selected them as choice 1 or 2.
>>
waste my fun and expensive day volunteering only to save $15? hell no. these bitches are smoking crack.
>>
>>10159946
> set up and tear down duties
> First part of application says you must still submit to dress code

wow totally
>>
>>10160025
wait, you don't want to do manual labour in your brand???
>>
>>10160025
It'S jUsT cLoThEs
>>
>>10160025
Hey, there's finally a good use for that Bodyline clock dress!
>>
>>10159946
>>10160025
How embarrassing. You’d think with how much they charged for tickets they could just hire some type of event staffing for any manual labor instead of pulling some last minute bullshit. I guess pocketing that cash is more important.
>>
>>10159946
Most events at least comp a day pass for you when volunteering. At this point, it's like you're paying them to volunteer.
>>
>>10160101
I'm sure the venue plus the tea party and all the extra events cost a pretty penny. I dobut Paradiso is a money maker for them. Buy I agree they should at least comp a one day ticket for your volunteering. I wonder how many hours they require, surely not all day?
>>
>>10160025
>>10160191
>>10160200
It's only 2 hours and you're either helping set up decorations/booths or checking people in/monitoring doors before or after the event, but it is technally a little under minimum wage. Maybe if they increased the discount to $20 it would seem more appealing.
>>
>>10160201

I can imagine that a 10% discount to brands or early access would sweeten the deal a lot too.
>>
>>10160206
That would be a big fuck you to Golden and VIP ticket holders.
>>
>>10160225
This
>>
>>10160200
Former con runner here. To comp someone a weekend badge we'd require 4 hrs a day or 16 hrs total for a 3 day con (4 days when counting day 0). Since Paradiso is a 2 day event I'd guess 6-8 hrs between both days?
>>
>>10160225

So models getting first dibs along with vip holders is ok but not people who are giving 6-8 hours of their time and waking up earlierleaving later? Ok.
>>
>>10160230
It's only 2 hours of work vs 6+ hours for models...
>>
>>10160201
It's a volunteer position, not a paid job.
>>
>>10160427
the incentive rationale is that it """"pays"""" $15 off of your ticket, which comes to $7.50 an hour (actually more than Kansas minimum wage!)
>>
>>10159479
The way you act makes me think your a jealous fattychan who didnt get picked~ try putting the fork down and maybe next year you can get in mkay?

I know this question was asked for AP, but do we need to wear anything by TF for the tea party? Trying to plan my tea party coordinate right now.
>>
>>10159935

I got picked and I didn’t rank the brand #1 or #2

However I’m ecstatic I’m modeling for them and if I had to do it over I would have ranked them first desu. Like with all my ranking stories my true match somehow comes out on top haha.
>>
>>10160803
What brand did you get?
>>
>>10160802
You are not expected to wear anything by TF for the tea party since it’s run by the event Paradiso, but they are the guests of honor and will choose their favorite coordinate to win a prize.
>>
>>10160441
I get that, but there's no point in comparing it to a paid job, because it's not one. Usually "volunteer" implies that you get nothing in return and are doing something because you chose to, so I feel like expecting a certain amount or comparing it to a minimum wage is just moot.
>>
>>10161071
yes, but when you volunteer for a convention, they generally give you more of a discount than this. for such a high end event they're really cheaping out.

So who's going to karaoke on Saturday?
>>
>>10161354
they had AC, but both days were at huge 100+ year old buildings full of people wearing layers. AC can't do much in that case.
>>
>>10161694
Are you talking about VIP karaoke? I thought that was Friday
>>
>>10162144
Friday evening is the swap meet. Karaoke is on Saturday.
>>
>>10162294
Balls. I thought it was Friday. I'll be going though.
>>
>>10161694
I can't go to karaoke because I'm underage but the coordinators refuse to compensate me. It's not fair t b h.
>>
>>10162504
Why not trade your ticket with someone who has a two day pass + the difference in price, and reap the extra spending dollars as compensation?
>>
>>10162504
You bought a ticket you knew had a 21+ event, it’s your own fault.

>>

I'm not trolling. I deserve something, I'm a gold ticket holder!!

>>

Yeah, but you ordered a VIP ticket KNOWING there would be an event for people 21+, and you purchased the ticket anyway. YOU fucked up; the con didn't . So why should the con pay for your troubles?
>>
>>10159913
wait, lmao, they did? So they're prioritizing social media whores? nothing says high class like prioritizing social media recognition over the cohesiveness of your fashion show models with your look.
>>
>>10162612
Most applications leave a section for your IG to show more photos. Stop trying to find reasons why you didn't get selected.
>>
>>10162612
They actually didn't ask for social media, but they left a comment box for more info. Most people I knew added their media links because just a headshot is weird for a modeling app.
>>
>>10162642
Damn, I didn't think to do that. I gave the headshot and nothing else (thought it was weird), but I got into AP. I'm slightly worried they are going to expect someone completely different.

Okay so what is the possibility someone might trade a 2 day ticket for a day one GA?

We fucked up our return flight somehow and just realized. Its $200 to change flights. More if we buy another return ticket.

I'm so pissed at myself but I really dont want to sink THAT much more money into this stupid trip.
>>
>>10163695
If no one does you could just hang out for an extra day. Extend your hotel stay a single day and check out the sights, go visit the museum of miniatures before anyone else gets there. That sort of thing.
>>
>>10163696
We're leaving too early, not too late.

Somehow neither of us caught that our return flight is at 6am on the 26th
>>
>>10163695
Just post on the fb group that you're looking to trade tickets. Swap info and extra $, then message the Paradiso email to confirm it with them.
>>

>>10164095
I hope this thing gets turned away at the door.

They just sent out confirmation that the modeling slots are full. Out of curiosity, what happens if you stay on the roster and don't have shoes, etc. to match what they try to put you in? It's hard to be prepared for that when you don't know if you're actually going to be called or not.

Does anyone know how the lighting conditions are at Paradiso? I am going with my girlfriend and I don't know much about the locations in general. I ask because I am planning to take photos while I am there and do not plan to bring a flash and probably wont bring a tripod.
Like if anyone else knows enough about photography what ISO would you recommend shooting at around the convention center to get at least a 60th of a second at f/4. I have never been there and plan to be bring film.

>>
>>10165126
If you need to use flash, don't take the picture. It looks so shitty 99% of the time.
>>
>>10165258
Yes, to any photogs reading here, PLEASE don’t use flash ever when photographing lolita (or anything for that matter) it makes everything look so shitty and cheap
>>
>>10165269
Well thats with an on camera flash that looks bad. Off camera flashes look great, but I do not plan to bring one.
>>
>>10165126
I usually go for a 400 or 800 ISO. Don't bother with flash (especially if it's just a shoe mount flash) as the other Anon said, it's going to make the outfits look bad. It would probably be better to find windows or some outdoor space to shoot near, the commercial lighting is awful. Bring a grey card so you can get more accurate colors in the dresses etc.
>>
I just got the email from my designer telling me what dress I will wear and how they expect my hair and makeup. I am SO GOSH DARNED THRILLED I CAN’T WAIT

I'd be way too nervous to do that. Especially if you have a lot of stuff, that sounds like a hassle in addition to the threat of loosing something or something being stolen.

I live a 2 hour drive away and can store a lot in my car. Not a really big hassle.

>>
>>10165158
>>10165573
The email LITERALLY says that you can opt to be on a backup model roster in the event someone drops out
>>
>>10165126
I'd bring the tripod, light meter and shoot with portra 400, push/pull as needed. Depends on the kind of shots you want and how you feel about grain and how good you are at estimating the right push/pull, I guess?

Day 1 at in the Grand Plaza in Union Station will have beautiful and natural overhead light from the high and giant windows even on cloudy days. Day 2 looks like warmer, dimmer and all artificial light unless you catch people arriving outside. Other than that, I'd plan to take the most photos on day 1, bring a light meter (or use an app) and be prepared to adjust white balance and exposure if you take day 2 photos. Day 2 would probably benefit a lot from the tripod because you may need to shoot wider.

Rather they will probably be more careful that VIP and Golden levels aren't invaded by rude, entitled children again. The VIP parties have always been 21+ and that's a specific highlight of the weekend and part of their appeal. Yes under-21 people have been VIP but they do not expect to go to the 21+ bar party. It's not usually an issue. There are other VIP and Golden Ticket benefits besides a karaoke party and in general, plenty of activities planned all weekend, enough for everyone to enjoy several extra activities. Missing one activity is not enough of a tragedy to ~demand compensation~ unless someone is really that much of a spoiled drama queen? And no, before someone thinks it, I'm not Paradiso staff. I'm just a repeat VIP attendee. It's a fun event and I enjoyed it a lot.
>>
>>10165580
I'm bringing some Taobao and Indie brand pieces that I just am tired of seeing in my closet with the desperate hope that maybe someone will wanna trade me for like a few blouses or something. Definitely on the lookout for brand. The more brand the better.

I don't mean to discourage you at all but I hope you also don't have expectations for everyone to be keen to trade brand for Taobao and indie things that have sat a long time in your closet (unless they are some of the more hard to get pieces?). It's awkward to flat refuse a trade but I guess I need to be ready to politely do so in these cases. I'm bringing brand pieces, but I'm only looking to swap for brand.

This is the dumbest thing to be confused over, I know, but what's everyone really going to be wearing at the swap meet? I know it says it's a casual event but not dressing up in frills seems odd to me.
>>
>>10169782
A lot of people last year wore non OTT coordinates, fairy-kei or larme style for the swap meet.

I don't see it either. They're supposedly going to be off-site. There are a bunch of other shops not listed, so I assume this isn't complete. Come to think of it, I thought LC was part of the remote shops list.

>>10170027

>>

>>
>>10170196
>>10170027

I think with Meta as a guest this year and more lolita programming than ever, Naka-kon is really trying to pay attention to the local j-fashion community and know what they're after in terms of programming. Naka-kon is also classified as an educational nonprofit, I can see the interest in engaging with other events.
>>
This will be my first lolita event away from my home comm.

How OTT will everyone be? Will I look stupid if I show up in an "average" coord?
>>
>>10170319
I don't think so, just don't show up looking dumpy. Try to look at least polished with your styling. Things like an unironed dress or a bit of frizz in your hair looks much worse when you're not overladen with accessories.
>>
>>10170319
Day 1 is a wildcard. Day 2 is when you go OTT.
>>
>>10159843
I hope you ended up buying shoes you love bc they're not going to inspect them. Just don't wear any that are obviously Baby or ugly. They require you to bring your own shoes, petticoat and do your own hair and thats it.
>>
>>10165580
I'm excited, I won't have much to bring since the jsk I was going to try and get rid of just sold on LM this week.

I also plan on bringing a fair amount of cash, I wonder if people would be cool with that?
>>
>>10168950
I thought I Do Declare was coming? Are they just sharing a table with VooDoooDolly??
>>
>>10171285

I for one am so cool with cash. And PayPal. And Venmo. Pretty sure other people will be too. I’m also looking to buy so I’m sure we won’t be the only ones.
>>
>>10165580
Is this strictly a swap meet or is it a "swap meet if anyone asks but use paypal and cash on the down low??"
>>
>>10171317
swap meets usually mean purchasing too
>>
>>10170319
Look at the photos and videos from previous years and decide accordingly. There are some lolitas who never do OTT, and some who will take every opportunity. I appreciate both as long as the OTT accessories aren't cheap or costume-tier and the regular coordinates are well thought out and properly accessorized.

Personally I would only avoid casual style except maybe to the swap meet, doll museum and arcade because the event itself, meaning the main activities both days, IS called a Gala.
>>
>>10170161
Side event admission to extra activities (other than VIP things), is rarely included in main event ticket prices. Ditto for parking and often, tips or gratuities.
>>
>>10168765

Thanks for your help, I've decided on Portra 800 for color and Tmax 400 for some black and white.
Might also pick up some slower color films aswell if i get a chance to buy more film before the event, but I'm also bringing a digital camera as a B cam, once again thank you all for your helpful information.
>>
>>10171317
I think its the latter and everyone is responsible for themselves. I'm bringing things and I'm cool with cash or PayPal as long as its a full sale and someone doesn't need payments, expect a layaway etc. As far as buying, I'm VIP shopping on day 1 so that's where my coin will be going.
>>
>>10165580

>>
>>10168821
I swear to god if staff let this person in I will be very upset.
>>
>>10171429
It's a pretty chill event and since you’ll have your digital to take some tests, you should be in a good position to take your time with setting up your film shots and getting some good ones. Watch your values on the darker dresses, (and the skin tones) and good luck!
>>
>>10169875
Aren't they going to be in the remote sales booth, which is listed?
>>
>>10168821
They seem to live near Tyler’s comm or to visit it. A big event is bound to attract some questionable people, unfortunately. I'll be interested to see what happens. Local comms really need to keep inappropriate people from attending at the local level and then I think fewer of them will try to come to the larger events.

>>10172235
Speaking of tables, I'll be at one for most of day 1, so hopefully this meet is after the marketplace or on the other day. Because I'd love to come!
>>
>>10172182
I don’t care if she buys and sells a lot, I know she has changed her style completely at least twice and it seems like she buys a lot of pieces, wears them once, sells. But if that makes people so offended that she charges what the market will bear, and probably funds her wardrobe via buying and selling, then you are free not to buy from her? A lot of people fund their hobbies that way, buying smart and reselling. It’s not like she has some secret source, we can all put in the effort to chase those good deals too, just gotta know what to look for and be very quick to buy.
I’m honestly not mad at her methods.
>>
>>10173278
Honestly same? I feel like if someone is actively involved in the fashion and just enjoys rotating their pieces, there is nothing wrong with selling them at market value. Plus I've messaged her a couple times about price and she always seems really polite and open to negotiations.

>>10172182
She's friends with the whole KC comm so if you do this, you're going to be pretty lonely stewing in your corner.
>>
Is anyone else a little nervous about going to the heart of tornado country in the middle of tornado season?
Is there a basement at Paradiso?
>>
>>10173835
Anyone who’s lived in tornado alley is laughing at you right now.
>>
>>10173839
And I'd laugh at them for being scared of a hurricane; so is there a basement, or are we getting blown away wizard of oz style?
>>
>>10173852
Yes.
Midwesterners hide from the constant raging tornadoes in their basements six days a week, and then on Wednesdays (when they’re immune) they completely rebuild their entire flattened town overnight. The process repeats itself for months.

(But seriously, chances of a serious tornado are extremely slim, and if one does happen, there will be a safe place for everyone to hang out until it passes.)
>>
>>10173835
kansas city almost never gets tornadoes. it'll be fine.
>>
if there is one, it's custom to stand outside and watch rather than seek shelter

>>
>>10168950

>>
>>10173835

Reflect upon how much you see tornadoes on national news vs. hurricanes, and you will soon find the answer why. Even if they happen a lot, the area they develop in is so small that they avoid most populated areas. Sometimes they do hit cities, and it sucks, but it still doesn't compare to hurricanes. So never fear, dear gull from another region. It definitely does not suck as hard as hurricanes.

It was pretty stinky in the Lolita Collective room last year. I wish people would wash better and clean their clothes and wigs more. Frilly stank is still stank. You people who don't clean your lolita clothes enough? We CAN tell, you know. You smell.

Yay, time for that frilly umbrella. I'm not wearing anything that will spot in the rain so I'm not bothered.
