>Grinch check has started.

I have contacted those who I have marked as possible victims of Grinches and am awaiting contact from our volunteers! Again, if you have not received anything and have not been contacted by me - send me a message ASAP so I can see what is happening.

We are still needing volunteers for about 6 more cards, so if you have cute stationery you never use and want to help out - please let us know!

Otherwise, please continue to post gifts!
>>
if i wanna volunteer for a card, do i just send you an email about it?
>>
>>10079586
Looking for advice re: Grinch Check also..
I have contacted those who I have marked as possible Grinch Victims to double check whether or not they have received a gift as we had a lot of gifts showing up sent by people who had not let us know they'd sent anything.. A few I emailed actually came back and said "Yes I received a gift!" so our list of people is actually about 3. But...

If potential Grinch Victims do not reply to mail.. what do we do? Leave it at that and not bother to arrange to have a gift sent? Or keep emailing for a response?

I take it if they have not replied, or not sent me any mail.. maybe they have received something already, or simply don't care??
>>
>>10079590
Yep!
>>
I really don't get why there's people that just haven't posted or replied at all?

You're supposed to post your gift, and if you haven't received anything by now you should have really checked your mail or checked the thread??

Sorry you have to deal with this on top of the grinches Santa
>>
5496 from NZ, I’m very much hoping you got your package...It arrived in your country on Dec. 28th. Even if you don’t have time to post if you just let me know you got it I’d appreciate it! I’m your $15-25 Santa!

Omg I am so sorry! I thought I had posted in the thread! I am just going through my camera roll and I only have a picture of the milkshake I made with the mix! I was so excited I just ripped everything open!

Thank you so much for the little Tama-Go figure! He is one of my favourites and I didn't have him yet so that was perfect!! And I loved all of the snacks too.. they lasted about 30 seconds before I ate all of them haha
>>
>>10079614
Oh no worries!!! Glad everything made it safely--and I'm glad you didn't have Tama-Go yet, I was super worried about that! Merry Christmas!

Yes, I did! I wasn't able to physically get to and open it until a few days ago, but I was planning to make a post soon! I absolutely loved everything by the way, but I'll gush more about that in the actual post.

Yeah, if they didn't reply then they either got their gift already or they don't care, I don't think there's any sense in doing anything unless they come out and say they were grinched.

こんにちは Stephanie!

I just got your gift today, I love it SO much! I actually screamed when I saw the Moomin mug, it is beyond cute. Your card was adorable too.

I can't believe you're from Sydney, what a coincidence. I lived there for four years, I just moved a little North recently. I also visited Japan in 2017 and I am so jealous, I felt like I could have stayed for a year and not have done everything I wanted to do. From memory the sun in Tokyo is nearly as hot as the Aussie one though!
>>
>>10079840
Holy cow, I just checked out of curiosity and you already got it!!

I'm super glad you liked the moomin cup! I hope you enjoy the tea from Okinawa too! i was going to get you the shikuwasa tea but shikuwasa is a uh acquired taste for some. I'm missing the aussie sun so much over here...

I hope I got the right charm for you too! I wanted to get you more anime stuff but I didn't want to get the wrong husband or waifu!! (I'm super picky) I'm really sorry everything got sent out so late. PS sorry about my hand writing. It was so cold I couldn't even move my fingers properly

LT from Australia here,
I've only just returned from interstate and have now received my clearance to return to work.

As per my previous post at >>10060317, I have finally been able to post my gifts and cards.

NS from Canada and HC from Mexico, because I've had you both in previous /cgl/ SS, I've upgraded your cards to small gifts, hope you like them!

CS from USA - because I was matched to give you both a card and gift, I've put it all into the one parcel.
PO from UK - thanks for your patience! Your parcel is on the way!

MT from Estonia - I'm sending a thank you parcel your way, I've just run out of greeting cards
JM from Canada - I've sent a thank you package for your gift!

- Aussie Gull from Australia

9724 here! Received my gift, thank you! I know beggers can't be choosers, but she looks so boot-leggy, I'm a bit disappointed. This feels under $15-25 as well.
>>
>>10081241
The packaging alone gives this away as a bootleg, and it's about $2 on aliexpress. Definitely not looking good if this is all you got.
>>
>>10081241
Please say that this was the one thing they forgot to send after sending your other stuff... right?
>>
>>10081284
Hoping this is true also, cause otherwise the 'I forgot to send this lol but here it is enjoy' just makes it worse imo
>>
>>10081276
>>10081284
Yeah, this was it. Sent from Amazon. If there was least a bit of love put into it, I wouldn't be as bummed, but I can't rightly add this to my itabag.
>>
>>10081302
Contact Santa, anon. That is a shitty gift. Sorry you have to deal with that!
>>
>>10081302
Even on Amazon, I see them for $4-$8. Definitely undervalued.
>>
>>10081241
imagine waiting this long for your gift only to get a cheap ali bootleg charm and a near-patronizing non-apology note. how could someone really think this was ok to send?
>>
>>10080829
Hi PO,
I just went back through my emails and received two correction emails from Santa with different post codes.

I sent it to the one ending in JQ which I suspect to be the wrong one. I'm super sorry! I'll organise another package for you asap!

Is it new gift quality measurement unit? I.e. good gift = 10 Karls, top gift = 30 Karls, etc
>>
>>10081757
With zero = being grinched, lets say
>>
After all the people that got grinched get matched to get a new gift I think bootleg anon and 20 bows anon should get something too. Looking at the super nice personalized stuff the others got and then what they received is just so sad for them.
Bootleg sender def deserves a ban imo. If you send something like that, in that way, you don't take ss seriously and you definitely don't deserve to join and get a nice thoughtful gift yourself. I'm not sure what to think of Karl but all the same his gift was also not good enough.

If I had the money I would offer to send them both something nice but sadly my jobless student self can only wish you get a real gift soon!
>>
Hi just to jump in and clear things up a bit and end the constant repeated comments.

>Karl is getting a new gift for Belgian-Gull - and has run it past me also.

I am also speaking with Bootleg Anon currently and looking for help from our Grinch Volunteers.

I feel like my gift was also under the 50$ limit but what can you do. I'll wait for 100$ limit next year and hopefully get someone who spends a lot with love onto their gift.

Yeah, this is really bad. Like really bad. The "this was in my closet lol" excuse doesn't even make sense cause this was printed on an Amazon tag...That means they TYPED this message in to the amazon gift message box so that Amazon could print the note for them on delivery.

It's bad. This is, as someone else said, literally worse than Karl. Karl at least put effort (and a lot of money) just missed the mark completely. This is zero effort, zero money, and then a straight up blatant lie on top of it.

>>
Reading that Karl will be sending Belgian gull something new with the help of santa redeems him for me. He spent money, a lot even, just didn't think his gift through and its getting resolved. Happy ending.

But #WorseThanKarl is zero effort personified, I literally don't understand why they even bothered sending at all, its only 0.1 step above completely grinching/sending nothing

NS, thank you for the card you sent last year as well! It was quite unexpected, but I just want to say that I was really touched to be able to see your adorable Funassyi!

The amount of people who I have not received confirmation of sending out their gifts, not hearing a peep back from the emails I have sent and fully being convinced they are grinches - only to find out THEY ARE NOT (from the giftee) - is crazy!

So according to my list now.. there is only 1 person who has been truly grinched and a couple of others who have received shitty gifts.

Why are people so bad at simple communication? So much stress for the giftees and santa and all easily avoidable. Finally here to post my cards!
I have to say, opening these all was just as fun as opening my gifts, and I truly appreciated the cute notes and messages inside each one. They’re all on display in my room and make me so happy to look at.

Drake anon, I had a good laugh at the card and I’m so glad you picked a ‘stupid dank memez’ card. You sound very interesting, and please look forward to a message on your insta later!

HC, your drawing is adorable and I am not ashamed to say I made a really loud “Awww” when I opened it. I will also post your gift tomorrow! It’s wonderful and I am so thankful!

Thank you so much VW for the card, but as well as all the stickers, face mask, and lovely paper. It was so fun to open it up and see all the cool stuff you managed to fit inside, and I have put one of the beer stickers on my computer case!

TM, your Little Twin Stars card is adorable, and looks great on my dresser! Thank you for sending it from so far away!

And finally JM, I am in awe of your skills and how you make the ribbon flowers! What a gorgeous card! No worries about life getting in the way, and it was great to hear from you.

Sorry for the long post, I just really loved these cards, and I hope you all are doing well. Thanks for all the effort that you all put in!

Finally getting around to posting my cards and gifts from my gulls.
I've participated in every ss and white day event, and I absolutely love it!

JM from Canada and MT from Estonia, this must be the third time we've matched again I think!

JM (3862), you have absolutely captured my aesthetic! I love the bag and the little fur puffs are absolutely cute. The little train pocket watch definitely caught me off guard. I love that it fits into my classic wardrobe!

MT, I love the enamel pins! The seal is so absolutely cute, I'm going to start wearing it on my work lanyard!

#8640, the little train magazine made me chuckle. I'm looking forward to trying the tea though, I love Oolong!

HM from Scotland, thank you for your card! I love the stickers, they're going into my diary.

J from the US, the card is so cute, and I hope you're able to visit Australia sometime! There's so much to see and do!

T from Russia, you've combined my favourite things in the world: Goku and Trains. I love it! It's so quirky and cute.

#2897 You know full metal alchemist has a place in my heart. I love the card.

Hello, #2504 SH from USA!
Oh god, I was so surprised when found your card in my box, I was not even waiting anything already! I look at the departure date and looks like it was travelling for more than month, and it finally here.
Thank you for nice wishes, there actually was a lot of fun on that holidays!
Stickers and pad are looking cool and have really deep colors, I love them!
You are very beautiful and that platelet hat looks very genuine, it was fun to look at working embroidery machine close-up (a love that machinery things too)!

Thank you for extending my Christmas mood for another month!

LT, I got your package three days ago. Everything is so adorable; thank you! I wasn't expecting this at all. I hope you're feeling better! I adore the bolero, and I haven't had the chance to open the stickers and the book because of having family over, but I can't wait to do so.

Also, my card to the left is from JM in Canada. I wasn't expecting this one in my mailbox. Your card is so adorable. Thank you. And I hope you had a lovely holiday.

Remember gull, what matters most is the thought behind your gift. I'm lucky in a lot of ways because I'm able to spare the money, but the real people that deserve the credit are the Santas and friends that helped me choose what to get.
Money carries value of course, but I'd basically grinched Belgian Anon by not getting her a gift I was very confident she would like.
Bitches love bows was really only half a meme when I was choosing the gift. I think I did better this time.
>>
>>10091661
I'm so happy! I'm sorry it took so long but I'm glad you finally received it~
>>
>>10079586
>all this madness
Even so, I'm sad I didn't get involved in this year's secret santa. I figured as a cosplayer, there wasn't much I could ask for and I didn't have any feedback, so I didn't bother.

Who is Karl and how did he mess up? It sounds like he at least went out of his way.
>>
>>10097532
He stupidly bought $100 worth of baby hair bows from Forever 21 and thought that was an okay gift. When he got called out by anons, he dug his heels in and said that Belgian Anon specifically requested bows. BA posted her wishlist to prove him wrong. He got dragged even hard. Eventually decided to buy her a new present with help from others.
>>
>>10097539
>$100 worth of baby hair bows from Forever 21
Incredible. I forget how the outside world sees lolitas.

At least he bought her a new gift, though! Sounds like a great secret santa overall.
>>
Thank you M from Estonia!! I just came back from a trip and my pet sitter was holding onto my package! I am over the moon with it! The wristcuffs are perfect and they actually match my Vm pieces perfectly! And thank you for the Kira Imai postcard, I put that up on my wall straight away! I’ve never seen these chocolates before and my partner and I had a great time taste testing a lot of them. I enjoyed the Kaleu bars the most.

Ps I enjoyed the Emil’s you stuck on the box
>>
>>10097422
That's incredibly ironic.
>>
>>10097539
Don't forget Nordstrom. The worst part is how ripped off he got.
>>
> poor Karl got ripped off
> at least he tried and is sending a new gift aww
> he sounds like a decent santa to me

Read the threads please

His gift was thoughtless, impersonal and plain sad. He chose to spend that much himself. It was 30-40 tier. He chose to completely ignore his giftees form and her example links. He then chose to literally blame his giftee when she expressed disappointment.
It got so far his giftee posted her form publically to prove that no she didn't ask for 20 bows.
Only after the thread was fully derailed with multiple people saying that no your gift really was shitty dude was the decision made that he himself was going to send something else instead of a grinch volunteer.
He dug his grave and laid in it and is still joking about it like he's proud he 'started the bitches love bows' meme. Stop digging him up when you haven't seen the whole thing unfold.

tl:dr its his own damn doing and it doesn't matter that he spent a lot if the gift itself is useless. I thank Mana he had help this time.
>>
>>10097961
>He then chose to literally blame his giftee when she expressed disappointment.
Agreed, this is the worst point. It's ok to learn new things when you pretend to participate in new activity, ask for help and accept it and fix your mistakes when you pointed at.
But to get so cheeky and choose fucking victim-blaming behavior to excuse yourself is so much retatred, so it's just have no excuse.
I still can't change my mind regarding Karl even after he sent a new girt, and still can't get those who try to defend him. I rather believe it's Karl samefagging a lot, making things even worse.

Technically, Karl may not be considered as Grinch by now. Though I just want you to know: Karl, you are not welcome next time on SS and in /cgl/ in general. Go be asocial moron in your ghetto.
>>
When you are new, you to ask 'what should I do?', not to teach others how to do their things.
>>

>>
>>10098012

>>
>>10098012
Karl, you still not learning.
>>
>>10098002
Yeah, dude probably should've asked for help earlier but the guy's heart was in the right place as far as generosity went. He deserved the initial hate but he handled it alright, don't know how people can have such an extreme reaction as the two gulls above. Motherfucker is starting to act like a politician now though, so it also makes sense that he's getting resentment from people that he seems to appear fake to. I'm not super sure myself.
>>
>>10098048
>extreme reaction as the two gulls above
name things in proper way
victim-blaming is just wrong
people don't get it so it should be stated clearly, without 'buts'
>>
>>10098051
I think there's a bit of a difference between victim blaming in the context of where the term is usually used (sexual assault) and here, where some autist misunderstood a form and tried to justify a gift he thought was going to be super well received because of how much money he spent on it and "bitches love bows" or something.
>>
>>10098053
>the term is usually used (sexual assault)
actually it may be used in pretty wide context since such issues tend to pop up pretty much in regular life
people just want to believe life in general to be fair thing so only bad people get bad things
they try to protect their faith and mental health turning victims in bad persons who made something wrong

its
so
wrong
just
no
>>
>>10098057
But that's just it, the dude wasn't accusatory (at least his tone wasn't) beyond saying his interpretation of the form. Why attribute something malicious to him when it could easily be explained by dumbassery? Literally nobody thinks she was at fault.
>>
autistic gulls screeching is way way worse than karl

Until then can we all just let the situation rest, as it is already discussed so so much and really it is completely resolved now already?

I see no need to bring it all up again. Let's get back to gift posting, I am excited to see what other people get who have had a kind volunteer send them a late gift c:

I had a lot of help from both Santa gull and a bunch of people from the faxcgl discord (funnily enough I was from /fit/ though).
A big thanks to everyone who assisted, most of my idea recs came from the discord but Santa gull recommended a really great substitution or two that I took her up on so her help (and willingness to double check me) was very appreciated.
Of course I can't discount all the constructive criticism I got from here and the feels thread either, so a big thanks to all of you as well. Thanks everybody!

I'm probably going to participate again, but I'm feeling vaguely disappointed as well since I spoiled my card giftee but I don't think they ever said anything in here. I haven't heard from santa about shipping trouble or anything like that either so it just seems like they forgot all about it
>>
Did 6791's grinch-santa send out their gift yet? Did you send it to the 3828 address or 2981 address? The latter is out of date... I updated it mid-exchange but our organizer may not have given you the right one...
>>
I have only heard back from one volunteer who is sending the gift for Karl. Others have gone silent. One gift has also gone missing in the post, but I have received proof of shipment via receipt and photos.

For these who are still without a gift, what is the collective best idea here? No one else has volunteered to send a gift?
>>
>>10115246
>>10115754

Y'all're upset about them not posting bc you gave them more than a card? It was the card tier.
If it was a gift, yeah, but there is no gratitude req with cards, it's just a way of spreading holiday cheer.
>sign up for and send 5 cards and 2 gifts
>giftees post
>only one card is posted
>I'm fine with that
>>
>>10116506
I mean, I sent a gift and it was never posted. I never heard from Santa Gull so I assume it arrived. They just never posted, which was kind of disappointing.
I'll participate again because it isn't about getting thanks but it's kind of annoying that some people don't bother to finish it up.
>>
2922 - HC from Mexico --- I've been constantly refreshing the tracking on the package I sent and it hasn't updated for a while. I'm worried it will never reach you and ended up lost. I can send another if you would like!
>>
>>10116506
Not upset because they aren't showering me with thanks just because I've given them more than a card. Upset because they could have at least said "thank you" (for taking the time to pick something out and mailing it).
If I wanted to just give something without hearing back "to spread holiday cheer" I'd just donate the money to the less fortunate, not spend time picking out things for people who regularly spend 300$ on clothes.
>>
>>10116506
as the other person who responded said, I'm not expecting anything big - an 'it arrived, thanks' would be just fine. I'd personally also like to have the feedback on whether what I got them was something they enjoyed, since I'm someone who doesn't do gifts a lot so I'd like the feedback on that (yes I'm an autist, how could you tell).
all in all, I'd consider it common courtesy to say thanks for receiving something.
>>
>>10116752
thank you!

>>10116906
it arrived thanks
>>
>>10115246
I've learnt from past years to just not bother with cards desu. As much as snail mail is charming it's too unreliable to send small gifts with a card and people often never get it or never bother to post it. Shopping for and exhanging gifts is more satisfying and it's more likely something will be done if you get grinched or something goes missing.
>>
So did everyone receive their gifts? What about Karl, no happy ending for him? Also everyone who participated do not be sad if you didn't get acknowledgement, you are still valued

I love it!!! Oh my goodness it's a perfect fit!
I've always wanted a shirt like this, sorta futuristic with an aesthetic vibe, but most importantly you were right, /fa/ would be proud!
Funnily enough I never really could figure out what to grab as a fashion choice when I browsed there a few times, always found a few things that looked good but nothing that looked great on me or a certain style that fit with how I look in general. This is perfect though! Really! I love it
(for those immediately curious like I was about what it said, the text reads "Far Journey" which is pretty appropriate for the design)
I never thought this type of fashion would suit me but it just goes to show how important it is to try new things, this was just the nudge I needed. Easily one of my favorite shirts in my wardrobe now!

(More to come, also please no bully my room I wanted to get this out fast)

And then a combination of gifts from both of my favorite anime (I'm putting the guppy sticker on my PC tower right after I finish writing this) I've wanted to have a real journal/itinerary that's personalized for a long time, you can bet I'm going to use it!
As soon as I grab some proper non-tearing poster putty I'm going to be putting that up as well, I've been meaning to add some life to this place for a while and this is perfect for that.
Finally, the cosplay guide. Again, fantastic, you were 100% right that I was primarily an armor guy, and it's so nice to finally have a proper guide that I can consult while I'm working rather than needing to constantly check a guide on my phone or computer, not to mention how much more professional and tailored this is to someone like me. Really, I can't say thanks enough!

Everything was wonderful, I'm overjoyed to be getting all this! A very Happy Holidays and the Best of New Years!
