Maybe a silly question but I've been checking around and even though AP jp released the milky swan special set online on the 5th, I can't seem to find the item on the website? I'm curious about the measurements as special sets can tend to be shorter/longer than the original

>>
>>10072546
Depends on the country, in mine it's for anything above 22€
>>
>>10072547
You’re german I suppose?
Anything over 22€ will get 19% tax on it and above 150€ 19% + custom taxes depending on the item. (Clothes will usually be 19%+11%)
>>
>>10072546
>>10072547
It's between 18 and 25 euro in every EU country including shipping
>>
>>10072549
Italian and we usually pay around 22%, plus customs paperwork which can be 10-20€, also everything is calculated on the item price PLUS shipping, so if you buy something for 15€ and shipping it costs 10€ you're still going to get hit by customs. Fucking sucks

This might be random as hell, but does anyone who has modeled for Angelic Pretty know what their waist measurement requirements are like?
>>
I love Moitie's lace but their cutsews/blouses are too short for me (they reach just above my belly button). Any recs for other brands with nice lace?
>>
>>10072668
That's the ideal length for cutsews and blouses to be worn untucked with skirts.
>>

Well it isn't since there is about 1 cm between the skirt and the end of the cutsew

While they may put you in a JSK, be able to fit an OP with ease. A small waist (24-26 inches or less) is usually preferred, but a proportionate body is very important, hence the most important part of the application is your photos. The worse thing you can do is lie about your measurements and show up frumpier than they expect, so take good photos & submit accurate measurements. I've seen girls switched out of dresses due to lying about their measurements (and height) a few times. Unlike Baby, which exhibit a slightly larger variety of body types than most Japanese brands in their stateside, AP prefers cute petite girls, even though their dresses are plenty large enough for other representation. Good luck anon!

>>
>>10072702
It’s like chiffon I guess? I do agree it feels delicate, when it first was released years ago I didn’t get it because I worried about it being too delicate. However I never seen anyone sell damaged ones so it must be not that bad.
>>
>>10072668

I've been considering asking Summertales Boutique about it. They have an aesthetic and a focus on good quality, versatile basics that I feel would lend itself really well to making good lolita cutsews, especially for gothic or classic. I keep chickening out though.

>>10072738
I feel like there are plenty of people doing blouses. It's cutsews I'm more confused about.

>>10072758
That's understandable. I can't tell if it will be durable or not. It's an interesting material though, totally different from other moitie chiffon dresses I have. I am hoping it's sturdier, I did snag one of the other dresses with thinner chiffon
>>
>>10073053
In that case I might get it.. My chiffon JM and Excentrique dresses are sooo delicate. Tbh I don't understand why Japanese brands are so into chiffon?

>>
>>10073079
Asians don't sweat/smell as bad as other races (genetics/science, you can google it) so that's not a factor for them. Additionally chiffon stores really well in a jammed packed closet and doesn't require steaming.
>>
>>10073394
I googled it and they sweat more all over their body. Who cares about smells, it damages your clothes and just looks gross. Anyway I live in a cold country so I don't care, I just don't understand why they use fabrics that get damaged more easily.

normies need to be stopped
>>
>>10072546
When buying from companies and stores it's 22€ for me, when buying from random people or friends sending gifts it's 45€. I assume you got those two mixed up, as buying second hand from owner is the second category (but CC and WW are first).
>>
>>10072725 #
Possibly because every time a western brand tries people cry its too expensive for an "upgraded t-shirt", even when good lace and good jersey cost money (I love brand cutsew because their fabric is thicker than 3 H&M shirts even when both being jersey. I would expect the same of indie lolita cutsew). Not to forget Europeans are expensive, so unless it's a hobby on the side, whatever is used for salary is raising the price too. People are more willing to pay for a blouse because it feels more like a special garment.

I've seen 3 or 4 brands try. None I hear much about anymore.
>>
>>10073398
>>10073398

It's just transparent/lacey effects are kinda in right now, so all sorts of brands are flirting with synthetics as it's the easiest fabric that will do transparent and floaty the most easily.

Not just lolita/otome, a lot of normie brands are doing mesh or lace blouses/skirts, or chiffon things, or other sheer layered things.

The irony is I was so into this like three years ago because it was so new and interesting, and now I just want to go back to cotton stuff because I do actually like in a hot country and would like to not stink lol.
>>
looking at buying HinanaQueena's Moira Princess. how good is their quality?
>>
I'm looking into colour analysis to help me get a more flattering lolita wardrobe and I see fuchsia listed with every season, what's up with that? I'm 90% sure I'm a cool winter but I have blonde hair and a reddish face...
>>
>>10073546
I have a more casual dress from HinanaQueena (see pic) and cape set. It is very good quality, heavy fabric, lined, print was clear and done well. It had very nicely done pintucks. I would buy from them again. I can't vouch for the series you are looking for, but I do think their quality is on the higher end of taobao.
>>
>>10073546
My friend has a similar Hinana Queena’s rococo dress and it’s gorgeous. One of the prettiest dresses I have ever seen. Honestly, it looks better than most AP OTT dresses irl.

I have heard that their quality has gone slighty downhill, though.

>>

I would love to buy brand cutsews but I'm almost a foot taller than the average Japanese girl so they're just not in the right scale for me. I've tried a couple and every single time, they ride up above my chest and look very unflattering.
>>
>>10073546
I have the other Rococo dress and I just love it. The fabric is really thick and comfy.
Have to admit I dislike the fabric they used for Moira. The photos I have seen from the people owning the first release were disapointing.
>>
>>10072625
likely <26 inches like anon said, since they usually choose smaller girls. mine is 22 and i haven't been rejected yet. relatively short or average stature, small waist, good proportions, and cute face have been the unifying factors at every AP show i've done.

Innocent World Sale is live.

I did buy the jacquard jacket in black, but I was sort of disappointed by the lack of items available? I was really hoping for more (and certain) items to show up, but eh, none of the main pieces interested me and there were only two blouses.
>>
>>10074179

>>10073660
So no to tall girls with model measurements? I have a skinny tall friend who won't apply because she says there's no point. There isn't really much point but I've always said that she should try anyway. She's cute and some of the girls I've seen modelling have not had cute faces, so maybe it'll be enough.
>>
>>10074618
Some brands are okay with tall models, but unfortunately, AP normally doesn't tend to cast models over 5'4. I agree that she may as well try, unless the application has a hard requirement, because maybe they will love her. Cuteness (like any beauty standard) is subjective and some things that lolita brands find cute, like small faces, are rooted within Japanese cultural norms.
>>
>>10074401
really? So no more customs for closet child orders for europeans?
>>
>>10074666
Not quite right. The trade deal only affects the custom fees, any import tax still applies (in my case, the 19% import tax still applies. Only the custom fees that would be on top of the 19% are affected).
Also, it only applies to products that are completely or mainly manufactured in Japan (the origin has to be clear through the paperwork) so things like Made in China burando stuff doesn’t count.
Also, certain product types will take a while to have the benefit, shoes are only custom free in 6 years.
>>
>>10074251

I did this too, but when I tried to order it again it was still sold out. My best guess is maybe they found one somewhere, or a shop held one for a customer who flaked, and thus one dress ended up in the sale -- but only one, so it was still sold out really fast.
>>
Anyone having weird wait times kn their international mail since the new year? Usually my stuff is in customs for 1-2 (business) days but it's been there since the very end of December. I didn't have any delays around Christmas though? Is this because of whatever trade nonsense Trump is pulling or is it just backlog?

>>10074871
I didn't get my international packages I purchased in december until this yesterday. They sat in customs a little more than a week.

How often do brands do rereleases?
>>
>>10075755
This belongs here >>10063410

But depends on the brand. and what you're hoping for them to rerelease. IW rereleases very infrequently, AP will make a million Holy Lanterns and Misty Skys, and Baby will rerelease the high demand prints in the cuts no one wanted thus not actually fulfilling the need, etc. What brand are you wondering about?
>>
>>10075757
Angelic Pretty and Mary Magdalene are the brands I am most interested in. I apologize for putting my question in the wrong place.

Does anyone have tips for creating coordinates that are dramatically different from your normal style?

I normally wear otome and toned down classic, like in the basic thread. I wear a lot of non-print OPs or JSKs with cardigans. However, I'm going to an event soon where I think this won't work.

I really want to make a more dressy/princess-y coord but I don't even know where to start. I'm also afraid that it won't feel true to me. Pic related is similar to the most extravagant coord I've ever worn.
>>
>>10075762
Been done by previous brands plenty of times. This is nice though
>>
>>10075763
Are you looking to buy a new dress or do a coordinate with one you already have? If it's the latter, could you provide examples of which dresses in your wardrobe you think might be a good starting point? It's hard to make recommendations without knowing what you have to work with
>>
Haenuli is closing.

Hello everyone~
I want to talk about something important today. I am facing a new and important milestone in my life; marriage. I am both excited and nervous all at the same time. As this will be a significant change for me, I want to use this as a turning point to wrap up my lolita fashion business and concentrate on my new life. The dresses I have designed up to this point I think of as “Haenuli's Lolita Fashion Season 1” and I am afraid that chapter will come to an end this fall at the Germany-based Träumerei event this coming June.
The wedding will change a lot of things for me and I wish to concentrate on it and step back from designing for the time being. I am an artist to my core and so I will be seeking new avenues to be creative, a Season 2, if you will. What that means, it’s hard to say as I’m unsure at this point. Making lolita fashion dresses has been my passion for 12 years and has given me so much joy and satisfaction.
In this transition time, I wish to give back to you as best I can.
Therefore, from February I’m going to add deep discounts to my current inventory and will rerelease some of my past designs for final runs. I am afraid I cannot rerelease all previous designs as the fabric is custom printed and each design requires different work for the seamstresses. If there was a design that you missed, please let me know in the comments below. I’ll take a look at the comments and will release the top requested designs over the coming months.
Thank you, everyone, for your love and support over the years. There is no way I could have had this boutique without you. Knowing my fellow lolita fashion sisters like these designs is the source of some of my greatest joy. It feels incredible to be part of this amazing group. Your kind words, happy emails, and warm hugs have meant so much to me. Thank you, my dearest sisters.

Sincerely,
Haenuli

Probably where we'd advise newbies to start (sorry, I promise I'm not being condescending) -- start by collecting inspo photos of the styles you actually want to emulate and wear, because sometimes something looks really impressive and people love it, but it's just not your thing. It doesn't have to be someone else's lolita coord, if you're inspired by natural colours then a few staged morigirl photos would be okay, or some concept studio shoots for the makeup or the hair if you find that cool or if it gives you an idea that you want to try.

Somewhere along the way look in your closet and try to figure out dress you want to wear (which dress you like, what you feel comfy in, or just a dress you've been dying to wear). Then try to match those with the inspo, and somewhere along the way some ideas should start popping up.

I mean at some point you're gonna have to step back and reasses like maybe rabbit ears with deer antlers and galaxy makeup don't go together and the inspo board needs to be scrapped and started over, but if it all works out into a nice coherent theme you can work with then you just buy all the extra stuff you need and be done.

I love lolita fashion but all upcoming releases look like shit. I don't know where the fashion is heading at the moment and frankly, I'm worried that there won't be any room soon for the OTT pastel styles I loved. I'm running out of 2nd hand past releases I can buy/find online because with nothing new I love in recent years I've been able to play catch up with my wardrobe.

I don't really want to leave the fashion but if no one is making the kids of styles I like what's even the point anymore? I'm just stuck wearing the same things over and over. Even Taobao dresses are becoming the same princess style jewel toned looks. Anyone else feeling this way?
>>
>>10075761
>>Mary Magdalene
How new are you?
>>
>>10075763
You need to learn how to do elaborate hairstyles and git gud at your makeup. The most important part about a dressy coord is not the dress itself, but how you style it. You need to have enough poof and proper shoes (not your normie shoes that somehow work with your otome coords). You don't need many accessories, but make sure they are high quality and that they stand out. Dressy coords in general have a more expensive feel, so don't be cheap on the accessories, even if it's just 1-2 pieces. Stay away from printed tights if you can, I find that lace tights work better.

"Lolita is an empowering fashion for women!"
"But bc I will be a wife sorry I have to remain in kitchen tehehe"
Is this for real?
>>
>>10075877
That was my first thought as well, it has been a pretty easy brand to direct fatty-chans to when they complain to keep them occupied and happy, since it's also less troublesome than trying to ask for customized measurements from taobao brands.
>>
>>10075896
Exactly what I thought

Lolitas who give up lolita to take care of some man are traitors
>>
>>10075893
>>10075896
>>10075899
Put yourself in her shoes. Look at the culture she grew up with. There are some women who think it’s empowering/feminist to get married and have a domestic life. It’s her choice. Deny or depriving a woman’s choice in life is not feminism especially when it’s other women who deprive that opportunity for that woman.
>>
>>10072511
Neither of which are inherently unhealthy and are actually dietary requirements. Stop watching Michael Moore documentaries.
>>
>>10075900
Oh, if it's a cultural thing there is no problem.
Bc culture.
Is her man going to left his job too? and take care of the house?
>>
>>10075900
Feminism can twat off. No ones bringing up feminism apart from you. She's giving up her empire, her routine, her work, her money. She is also leaving herself vulnerable if things don't go well. Whats the bloke giving up by comparison? Its a huge fucking ask. She is obviously a very driven and creative person, she has more ambition in her than staying at home and keeping a house.
>>
>>10075906
Amen
>>
>>10075900
Nobody’s depriving anyone of choice, just questioning it. Not every choice a woman makes is inherently feminist just because a woman is making it. That’s fine.
>>
>>10075906
Taking care of the house is a woman's job. His job would be making bbq, fix the car and cut the grass on a daily basis. /s

Honestly, it's her choice if she wants to become a housewife. But it's just such a weird choice when she's become semi-successful with her brand imo
>>
>>10075841

I’ve never really gotten the reasoning behind “I’m gonna stop doing (insert fulfilling activity/career) because I’m getting married”. I’m authentically curious, does life really change that much? Is it the wedding?
>>
>>10075915
I don’t get it either. It makes sense if there’s a baby because babies require so much round the clock care and daycare can be very expensive, but just being married? If anything I worked more before and after my wedding because we needed the money to pay for everything.

I hope I’m reading it wrong and she’s just going to focus on slightly different things, not completely dropping her business entirely.

This is why I will never get married or have children. Fuckin life ending events. One puts you in a coffin and the other nails it shut. She's going to have kids and not have enough time to make anything else.

When she's an Haenold Hag she'll look back and realize that she killed her dream just so she could shoot out and take care of twat gnomes. She'll have very little free time, but when she finally gets a breather to relax she'll "cool off" by cleaning up after her husband's messes and cooking dinner.
>>
>>10075830
Echoing everyone else, this makes me extremely uncomfortable. I'm hoping this just means she has some other big project planned but this seems like such an incredibly bad move.
>>
>>10075921
You can get married and have a relationship and never have children you know. It's an option. Get off 4chan, there are tons of dudes who are so certain they don't want kids that they get the snip the second they find a willing doc.

her designs were an ita magnet, the patterns sat oddly on anybody who bought them and very rarely look flattering, the prints and color palettes are clusterfucks and oh yeah art theft lol

I hope she lives a good life and all but I'm also of the mindset that yoU DON'T LET YOUR DREAMS BE DREAMS

my only guess is she's getting married to some dude who makes enough money she doesn't need to work, but either way that's not really a good reason to just stop imo. But hey, I'll respect her decision either way.

Meh.
>>
>>10075763
Even from reading your post I feel like you're not being true to yourself. It sounds like you want a more dressy coord because of what other people expect you to dress like at such an event, not because you want to. If it's not your personal style, don't do it. Instead, try to express yourself while still using things from your own wardrobe and inspirations. You can look fancy without going the OTT route. Look at how JM and ETC use glitter, or how the VM and JetJ designers dress when they attend big events. Try wearing a bonnet instead of a small hairbow, or wear something with more delicate fabric than usual. It's true you have to dress for the occasion, but try to do it in your own way without following what sweet lolitas and gothic lolitas do.
>>
>>10075951
I don't own a thing from her. Its just really strange to quit your life just because you marry and even more to publically announce it. I'm with my OH 8 years but we still have our own lives, yeah?
>>
>>10075900
Typical choice feminism
>>
>>10075951
>>10075830

I just thought she was the better brand for dressing bigger planets, own some stuff from her as well and it seems pretty decently made (the bodice is long on me, but actually not that bad. Granted I had a longer body that didn't properly fit burando anyway, which meant Haenuli did at least fill a niche for me)

But she does always seem to have some issues. Hospitalisation, delivery delays. Someone stealing her artwork, tattoo drama. Copying, reseller drama. Was it just me or she didn't seem to release a whole lot of new things lately? Compared to Baroque and Lief her brand seemed to lag behind and kind of looks more like a side business?

I guess it's more that I'm not so surprised she's quitting. Though, it's her life anyway, so if she's gonna be happier married or whatever then all the more power to her. Hope she finds her happiness doing whatever.
>>
>>10075904

>>10075900

>I am an artist to my core and so I will be seeking new avenues to be creative, a Season 2, if you will.

I got the feeling that this is more like a break after new start. She has been doing the same Haenuli thing 12 years now which is a long time for one project.
I can totally understand that marriage can be natural point where she takes time for herself/her personal life.

We don’t know her personally and there have been misunderstanding because she’s not a native english-speaker so please be reasonable with your assumptions.a

These are probably the same people who go on about hijab is a choice because a small percentage of women in first world countries actually make an actual choice to do it and cry forever about how it's therefore empowering.

To be fair from what I've seen in the magic the gathering community, there's a portion of guys who will sell their MTG cards with the reason "i'm getting married" and it's understood by the others that's just a thing they have to do.

I think both things are really stupid
>>
>>10076202
Yes, that's exactly what choice feminism is. It's a perfect way to be feminist without actually doing anything about patriarchal culture or even questioning it.
>>
>>10076208
It's just one type of feminism. You might as well say you don't like identifying as a democrat anymore because a lot of democrats are stupid. Or you don't like identifying as a conservative anymore because some of them are nazi's. Or I don't like to identify as a lolita anymore because I prefer old school. Just say you don't identify with choice feminism.
>>
>>10076212
Well I don't like identifying as a Democrat either. Though there are other reasons for that.
It's perfectly valid when the word is largely associated with a certain type of people, and those type of people wouldn't necessarily want me counting myself amongst them anyway.
>>
>>10076216
But the word feminism is not largely associated with choice feminism. In fact a lot of normies still associate it with women who are against wearing bras, make-up and shaving legs.
>>
>>10076219
That's a fair point anon
>>
>>10076219
Ia, but maybe I'm biased because I don't see feminism as "waves" anyway. And if you do see it as waves, you can't possibly be a second or third wave feminist unless you were in America during that time. Anyway, to keep this on topic.. I do not think Haenuli quitting for marriage is feminist. I think it's possible she has been wanting to quit for a while and this seems like the right timing.. But that's not what her post says. And I've seen many friends changing their hobby to be more in line with their partner.

I understand she's an artist and wants to do other things. A lolita brand is not that profitable and very time consuming, not to mention the clients are stupidly picky.

However, it'd be a waste for her to just do manhwa or basic painting which plenty of artists can do. Not every person has at their disposal a decent factory to make quality lolita prints from. I just think she should return to fashion in some way again or it'd be a waste. I also hope if she does anything else, she at least does more with dolls which she's posted plenty of before.

It's >>10076461 here. Just wanted to recommend, while you wait for the manga you may enjoy looking at posts tagged #着たい服がある on twitter. It looks like Japanese lolitas have begun to use it to talk about how they love lolita even if they're not cute or young, or to just to have a little chat about why they wear lolita. I've spent a while looking at these posts, my favourite so far is there's girl whose older sister was a lolita and she fell in love with it through her and still wears it even though her sister quit ages ago. It's worth scrolling through the tag to find those posts, twitter has a translate function that's pretty helpful. I'm considering making a thread to dump those posts in now, they're very heartwarming. I feel like it's a good thing for Western lolitas too... We're not really seen as ideal lolitas by many people, but who cares, we have clothes we want to wear!

Please do anon! I don't have a Twitter but I would love to see wholesome posts like this.

I have a high opinion of her art talents. That's why she shouldn't just do basic ass oil paintings in her husbands bedroom when she can do actually great pursuits.
>>
>>10076496
Idk anon, I'd love to make that thread and I am good at getting the gist of a Google Translate word salad and summarising, but I think people will be a bit upset if I don't translate the Japanese word for word. Do you think folks would be OK with greentext summaries in English and then the Japanese text below? I don't want to clutter the board if people would hate it.

>>10076502

Step 1. Get a following
Step 2. Print on t-shirt
Step 3. No fiddly lace sewing, huge skirts or anything finickily lolita-styled. Just t-shirt prints like the knock-off Juniji Ito t-shirts, but with her ownership so she's actually profiting from sales.
Step 5. Profit
Step 6. Repeat, but now make it on mugs, stationery, tote bags, keychains, everything else other than a lolita dress.

I mean, Step 4 is actually logistics and shipping stuff out and I understand she's had some issues with these in the past but everything else about this actually seems easier to me than full on making a big print for a lolita dress.

IW SALE IS LIVE
>and disappointing imo
>>
>>10076546
I think you're kind of missing the point. Anyone can do that and can contribute to fast fashion garbage or Chinese made junk on the market. Haenuli has real talent and should stick to higher quality fashion - even if it's not lolita - if she ever returns to something clothing related.
>>
>>10076530
That would be fine! And don’t worry about nitpicky almond telling you how to do basic translations of twitter posts, let them whine if they don’t have anything better to do
>>
>>10076548
When has IW’s sales NOT been disappointing though?
>>
>>10076564
Thanks for the encouragement, anon! I'll make that thread

>>10076565
I got an OP in last year's sales that I'm pretty sure I've worn and washed almost every week this year, and it still genuinely looks like new. But other than last year, sadly agreed.
>>
>>10076559

Yes, but she's not limited to painting oil paintings in her hubby's basement, is what I'm saying. There's still a shitton of other things she can use her "talent" on that isn't just "a waste".

In terms of quality, she's really not up there with all the Japanese burandos anyway. It's really a big loss only when you factor in the fatties, as she was their best source for decent plus-sized quality. For smaller sizes top tier is still always some Japanese burando or another.
>>
>>10075830
I'm surprised she's getting married at all. Didn't she have some kind of depression, because her lover died? At least that's what I got from her art.
>>
>>10076403
So because she's getting married but in more words

in my opinion, normies are interested in lolita fashion to the point it’s almost annoying.
Every time we are as a group in public there is always at least one ”why you are dressed like that” -question. I’m seriously considering to print some pamflets because everyone is tired of giving The Japanese Subculture Speech.

I’ts just easier that someone does that speech for wide spread audience that we don’t have to.
>>
>>10076704
Some normies don’t want to understand though, you could explain until you’re face turns blue and they will still mark you as a weirdo pervert because their mind is already made up when intiate the conversation

A friend and I had a long talk with a dude about lolita and he kept laughing and asking the same questions over and over again, almost as if he was hoping to get the answers he wanted if he played stupid long enough.

Translator here - yeah we're waiting on the full drop. Before it gets released I'll hash out the script for the chapters that are already online just as preparation to release them faster, but I'll probably create a blog or something to host the chapters once we get started on the real deal.

Very big mood.

>>10076530
I wouldn't mind lending a bit of a hand. Japanese translation is more of an art than a science, translating word for word is tricky so getting the gist of it and wording it into something understandable is inevitable. The grammatical structure is really tricky to perfectly translate over certain nuances without rewording and interpreting sometimes.

It's because of the tumblr culture revolving around it. Tumblr girls are now growing up a little and are now around the 18+ age range and have funds to buy their own stuff. They probably still, in some way, romanticize the novel because they've never read the shit and just go off cherry picked screencap quotes to assume it's some forbidden romance novel without the context. To be fair, the writing is absolutely phenomenal and moving, so I can see why they'd be enamored by reading Humbert's deranged rants without context.
>>
>>10076798
A lot of the Nabokov lolita UwU culture had ageplay undertones. Honestly Tumblr was a mess and their recent decision to remove NSFW content wasn't a surprise to me since I'm sure there were way too many obvious underage lewd accounts floating around. With Tumblr's culture of "we accept everything, even our made up shit" I'm certain there was a strong demographic of underages who embraced the thought of grown people indulging in their pictures and flirting with/propositioning them. Maybe had made up terms for it like Halalsexual or whatever too, I'm sure.
>>
>>10076802
That's a problem with our culture though, not tumblr. I used to share pictures of myself with adult men when I was 11. That was when the internet was new and tumblr didn't exist yet.
>>
>>10076682
This is the real world, not an overdramatic romance novel. People who lose partners can generally fall in love again.
>>
>>10076813
I mean, there's a difference between someone stumbling into the wrong person at the wrong place and someone who stumbles into an entire community of enablers that encourage each other on to do these things, find pride in it, and actively shun those who speak against them. I'm sorry you were a victim, but I think you understand what I mean when I say that the Tumblr aspect of it created an entire subculture that glorified it and in some cases even recruited for it, which is a more pressing situation.
>>
I know Ouji and Aristocrat are accepted JFash sister styles, but is Madame? It seems pretty dead. There's some revitalization now that Moitie is stirring in its coffin, but it's still very tiny.
>>
>>10076864
I have never heard such a thing as ”Madame style”.
Aristocrat style can be feminine too so I think that might be the style you are looking for.
>>
>>10076864
Madame is Moitie's name for female Aristo, right? I'd say it's accepted, depending on how it's interpreted. Coords like this for example >>10076615 would absolutely be welcome in my comm.
>>
>>10076869
It is commonly called Aristocrat but some of the folks in the boystyle thread insist it's the supposed name for it. In anycase, aside from Moitie and Boz it's kind of hard to find femme Aristo/Madame stuff.
>>
>>10076862
I'm saying that "community of enablers" is part of our culture. Social media has been full of those enablers ever since the internet was invented, I mean when I was 11 I was on a dating platform aimed at minors and it was accepted for those creeps to have profiles there too.
>>
>>10076862
>>10076802
If those ageplay groups can't be on tumblr anymore, they go to the ones already existing on facebook and amino
>>
>>10076798
Honestly though, I like to shit on tumblr as much as the next person but people who romanticize Nabokov's Lolita have always been around, it predates tumblr by a long shot. Hell, in my personal experience, I've seen/met more people who thought of Humbert and Dolores as a "romantic couple uwu" irl than there
>>
>>10075841
I'm an oldschool lolita and have literally nothing beyond 2008 in my wardrobe besides socks and some headdresses and things. I don't keep up on new releases and trends because frankly, it's not interesting to me. I still love getting new to me pieces of old shit. It's fun and surprising and I still love lolita, even if brands haven't put out anything I really care about for over a decade.
>>
>>10075845
Not that anon but you can still be interested in things that don't exist anymore.
>>
>>10076862
You must be very young if you think that began on Tumblr.
>>
>>10075911
it kinda seems more to me like she wants to focus on the wedding and other things during this time, and that she hopes to be back, but life may lead her in a new direction and that direction might not be lolita.
>>
>>10076920
nayrt but yeah, also the ageplay """community""" is considered cancer by most of tumblr, they are almost universally hated

I bought a whole set for a big event in my comm tomorrow and the head piece didn't come. I don't have anything near the color and I don't have any neutral hats.
I am so disappointed. Any ideas, gulls? There is a detachable bow on the dress I feel like could maybe attach to my head for balance.

(To the girl who posted in the other thread I accidentally posted this in about headbow out of waist ties I will give it a shot!)
>>
>>10077408
This looks bad 99% of the time. Can you just not match the dress, but match some other element of your outfit? I think shoehorning in another color might even be better.

>Dramatic Rose in ivory sold out
>In my confusion and adrenaline high still ended up checking out with two sets anyway
>Didn't realise I had to manually add the dumbass novelty book

I'm now equal parts sad over missing the ivory Dramatic Rose, elated having gotten two sets, nervous they'll cancel the order (I don't see that it says we can't order two at once, but...), and also feel dumb over not adding the novelty. Also I think I blew my January budget already.

Uh. So did anyone else get anything from the renewal store? Saw that someone wanted the Milky Swan set earlier, hope you managed to snag the colourway you wanted.
>>
>>10077408
I don't really know what style of dress you are wearing but just do up your hair in a fancy up-do and possibly put a few pretty pins/pearls. The more effort you put into your hair the more intentional it will look!
>>
>>10077408

Seen you post this twice, without knowing exactly which dress and how you intend to style, it, best I can do is list a bunch of random options off the top of my head. Hope somebody finds this useful at least:

1. If your waist tie is thicker, then you can try https://egl.livejournal.com/19498331.html

Alternatively. Put a safety pin through the buttonholes, pinning two waist ties together. Now wrap this around your head and tie a nice big bow on top of your head (practice in the mirror to get it right). Pin it to death with hair pins underneath the "wings" of the bow and behind your ears to get it to stay in place. Looks remarkably like an actual headbow, but only if you can cover the back portion with the pinned buttonholes (ie-have your hair down or something)

2. If your dress bow actually isn't too wide, you *can* use it as a hairbow, but check that it looks proportionate on your hairstyle and it's not a Bodyline bow (they use a really stiff interfacing that will always look like helicopter blades). Use a seam ripper to carefully take the bow off your dress. You should be able to slide an aligator clip underneath the middle part and use that to clip the bow on.

Alternatively, if the bow is chiffon/soft and floppy, you can safety pin this to a hair tie and use the hair tie.

I don't see how this is preferable to using the waist ties as it permanently damages your dress but if that's what you really want to do, please honestly disclose this when you sell the dress and don't just sew it back on and pretend it never happened.

3. Crowns from your bridal shop, there's probably one somewhere near you. If you're wearing something white, gold or silver it's worth a trip.

4. DIY floral crown or bows from craft shop, chances are pretty high you can find something that matches something in your dress, hotglue them artistically to a headband and you're set. Can't be worse than having a bare head and no ideas.

Thanks for the ideas. The bow I was thinking about using from the dress detachable and can be pinned on again, so no worries there.
I tried to go to the craft store and dye some stuff to match and failed. I didn't check and it was polyester, which I really should have saw coming.
I have my hair bobbed so options are limited there.

This is the dress.

At this point I am thinking of running back to the craft store, getting small flowers and pinning them in my curls.
>>
>>10077649
If you have a Forever21, H&m or Claire's or something nearby they might have some simple white (maybe even red) bow clips you could use. Or flowers or something. Just an idea.
>>
>>10077591

I think it's the new site. Should've screencapped it, I tested it afterwards by putting the Fresh Cherry set in my cart and properly saw that there was a button you had to click and then the item got added to your cart, if you didn't click it then it doesn't seem to get listed in your cart. Maybe they'll be kind and add one anyway. Or not, idk. If there's any interest I could update when I get my parcel from Tenso?

By now the notebook seems to be gone I guess. It's not showing up anymore. Kind of a bummer you don't automatically get it, even though I don't actually want it. I guess it's an interesting quirk to note for future freebies.

Such communities we're almost always run and primarily participated in by adults. Tumblr opened the door for many actual kids to stumble onto it and get into the community when they just wanted to see Homestuck porn and stumbled onto the wrong tags.

It didn't "begin" it, it cultivated it and made it much more widely accessible to actual children who would have otherwise been unaware of it.
