I miss her so much :(Post other ABe girls if you want too.
Why doesn't he ever finish anything?
>>3430566How ironic, just got done re-watching Texhnolyze.
I love his art. It's so comfy.
>>3433445Same here. I adore how he draws eyes, there's something really soulful about them.
>>3433461Everything has a warmth and softness to it. I wish that I could draw like that. To convey such feelings through the paper.
>>3432009But that's not ironic, it's merely a coincidence!
>>3434810It's not a coincidence that I just finished watching it for the 5th time this year
>>3430566Hell yeah I fucking love Tex.
>>3442923I wish that we had gotten to see more of the world of Haibane Renmei. Thirteen episodes were too few.
>>3442923What's with the kids anyway? I'd love to know how they come into the world and if they grow up into proper Haibane, stay as kids forever or have their own day of flight equivalent.
>>3443197Reki and Nemu were kids and grew up so I'm gonna guess all the little haibane will too.
>>3443197>>3443297I don't get why Reki's day comes first when Nemu is older.
>>3443419It's not based on age. Just who can overcome their grief before it's too late.
Kuu left before both of them and she was much younger
.
>>3443423Yes. And Nemu's problem is....? Let me guess, it's Reki.
>>3443460Yeah. IIRC her problem was worrying about other people too much.
>>3443486But the difference is Kuu wanted to improve, she overcame her problem and moved on. Reki hadn't dealt with hers; her time just ran out. Since Nemu is older, either she should have dealt with it already and moved on, or she should have been forced on like Reki.
>>3443624I suspect it's more about mental state than time. Reki's time started running out because she began to believe that she'd never escape and that it was pointless to keep trying, not because she'd been there for too long. Nemu wanted to be there for Reki until the end so her day of flight only came after Reki had left and her task had been fulfilled.
>>3443624>Reki hadn't dealt with hersShe had though, in the very last episode. Rakka helped her (like she helped Kuu). The epilogue explains it.
>>3443460The problem of all the Haibane is that they were in disharmony with either themselves or their environment. Once they achieve both they had their Day of Flight.Kuu didn't like the fact that she was the youngest, and she tried (in vain) to appear older by emulating the older Haibane (e.g. riding Reki's scooter). Rakka helped her accept her age by mentioning how Kuu taught her the ropes.Nemu was in perfect (if sleepy) harmony with herself and the world, and she only delayed her Day of Flight for Reki's sake (the Communicator explicitly says this).Rakka was in disharmony with the world (symbolized by the bird of her previous life). Since she overcame that I suspect she will have her Day of Flight soon.Something something about Hikari struggling with her carefree nature and her desire to be taken seriously.(original interpretation do not steal)
>>3446134I can't see Rakka flying off any time soon. While she's definitely made a lot of progress I think she still has a lot of room to grow and really live up to her true name. Restoring the relationship between Old Home and the Abandoned Factory will probably be her next task due to her work in helping Reki, she might get more involved with the Renmei or Toga due to learning some of their sign language and I am certain Rakka will want to support the twins for a couple of years before eventually leaving. This is just my personal headcanon however so it's no more or less correct than your interpretation. ABe did do some adult Rakka art though so I'm right on that at least.Gosh she's pretty.
>>3446208She sure is qt.
>>3446208i believe this one is of her older, too. the ponytail is a nice alteration.
>>3446312Yeah it's a nice touch, she looks a lot more mature with it. I love how her hair's still messy too, Hikari really screwed her over when she messed with the halo mold.
>>3446318it think it's rather cute. and the idea of having a splint to set your halo like a broken bone is a fun idea. i sorely wish there were a few more episodes to this show. there was so much of the world we only got a taste of.
>>3446330Same here, there's so much more that I want to see. I really wanted one more episode of sinbound Rakka and Reki bonding as I felt it was over a bit too quickly, though maybe it would've dragged on too long instead. I'd also love to know the layout of the Abandoned Factory and how they live there, it looks so derelict and inhospitable. Some more character development for the rest of the Old Home crew would've been great too even though they drop out of focus in the second half.
>>3446132Wow really I had no idea. I can't believe I was criticizing the events that happened before that moment. Guess I'm just a retard.>>3446134>she only delayed her Day of Flight for Reki's sake (the Communicator explicitly says this). That right there implies you can ignore the day of flight. Reki couldn't, her time had run out. Nemu cannot just "choose" to go after Reki, it doesn't work that way. This >>3443837 explanation works better, but it means the mechanics of the day of flight are different than what is explained in series. In order for your explanation to work, Nemu would have to be in disharmony because Reki was in disharmony. But this still doesn't explain why Kana and Hikari, who are seemingly fine, don't have theirs. It also doesn't explain why, if Nemu can remain due to Reki, Kuramori basically out on her because her day of flight had arrived. There are numerous other Haibane running around that don't appear to be in any form of disharmony. And ironically, the children would probably be the easiest to achieve harmony with, yet from the looks of things, they are required to grow up first. Perhaps Nemu and Reki are "unusual" for being so old, because all the children they were taking care of with Kuramori are gone. I'm sure some of them went to the factory, but the fact still remains that there are quite a few Haibane that are Reki's age or older, whose time did not run out. Also Kuramori was around that age.>>3446330>i sorely wish there were a few more episodes to this show. there was so much of the world we only got a taste of.Agreed. I expected more explanation on the outsiders than a brief scene in one episode. Rakka being sinbound was another. Not to mention Reki being born with it.
>>3446348>though maybe it would've dragged on too long instead.maybe just 24 episodes, or even 18 or something i would have been okay with. old factory and the other group of haibane could have gotten a little more screentime i think. >>3446354i'm okay with things be a little ambiguous or unexplained. i just wanted to see more of the world they lived in and the characters. like the language thing, or maybe there could have been people who don't really like the haibane for whatever reason. there was that one woman who was very patronizing to rakka, so maybe just more interactions with the townspeople or whatever.
>>3446383Those faces look unusual.
>>3446348>>3446383midori a cute.
>>3446386they're a bit derpy but kind of cute i guess
>>3446586I assume this is a crossover, what's the other show?
>>3451062It kind of looks like she has a mullet.
I have no idea what's going on in this picture but I can't help laughing at it.
>>3455203>When Reki starts grabbing at the remainsThis scene broke my heart.
Great thread, found some of the old Abe stuff from the 90s
>>3455306>I'll always be by your side.>>3458178He improved with the past of years but never gave up with drawing cute girls, this man is too good for our world.
https://www.patreon.com/abfly/overviewAbe has a patreon now and a youtube channel... Things like this make me think a lot. Abe is such a great artist who works in such a small industry and yet his channel remains pretty obscure. Also, I love his art so much it's max levels of comfy
>>3462086https://www.pixiv.net/fanbox/creator/98407There's also a pixiv fanbox which seems to be more active than the patreon. It would be nice if he was a bit more well known but as long as he knows how much his work means to some people I'm sure he's fine with his little cult.
I finally got around to reading Ryuushika and I love it when she gets lost in her thoughts and the art goes full spread, it sounds cheesy but I can feel my own imagination expanding alongside hers.
>>3462086>>3462345His art is so gorgeous. I want to make something that make people to feel the way I do when I look at his work.
>>3463088This one is little bit lewd
I find it interesting that Abe he hated drawing up until the end of high school, later applying to a fine arts college. This and his mother not letting him read manga probably led to his distinctive style.I'm glad that artists like Yoshitoshi Abe exist. Instead of taking his inspiration from other anime, he seems to be somebody who looked at the world around him. His artwork is so awe inspiring, I would love to learn from him if I could...
>>3464546forgot my image
>>3464546>>3464547I don't know if I could think of another artist who has such a distinctive style as Mr. ABe's. I don't claim to be an expert or repository of animu knowledge or anything, but his style is always instantly recognizable.
I hope this isn't too lewd.
>>3464564Beautiful but too lewd for me>>3465678this is fine don't worry
I loved this thread, it's a shame that it has to end but it's time to move on.
>>3466470Good thread. Thank you anons. Seeya next time. May you all find peace and happiness in your lives.
This was a lovely thread, I hope we can have another thread this good in the near future. Later guys.
