FUCKING KEK
Meltzer already getting in the spin for AEW
>>
>>6864294
this can't be happening
>>
>>6864294
Honestly the most truthful thing he's said, AEW's endgame will always be maintaining a decent-looking fraction of WWE's worst day

So this is what true coping looks like...

LOL Meltzer is moving the goal post already.
The ratings doesn't matter, it's about the streaming service but this only apply to AEW not WWE for... reasons... $11.99 please
>>
>Hotdog fans dreaming of slaying the E
>Hotdog officials dreaming of sharing the Impact market

Ayyyyy
>>
>>6864330

You're right, losing 25% of your TV audience in a year when you're an established brand isn't a big deal.
>>
>>6864294
They would be lucky to even hit half of that.
>>
>>6864294
1st week-2nd week, I'll be optimistic and even give them 700K because I'm in a generous mood to give them the benefit of the doubt. But just like every other company that supposedly wanted to "change the game" over the past 20 years, no chance in hell

Holy shit does your reading comprehension sucks. Of course the ratings mattered as long as they are a show on TV, whether it's AEW or WWE.
Meltzer is obviously sandbagging and trying to lower the expectations in case AEW doesn't draw that well on their TV debut and he can hype them up even more once they exceed the low expectation he has given them.
Here's an unbiased look at thing, Total Bellas and Total Divas averaged 500k viewers a season on E. Miz and Mrs average around 800k+ on USA. Tribute to the troops and NXT special on USA drew 1 million plus. And according to Meltzer, who repeatedly said AEW is getting paid more than any wrestling company that is not WWE, TNT who is bigger than USA would be happy with 400k to 500k viewers. GTFO.

Can't wait for Big Money Vince to collectively buy the hotdogs leagues with every shindy shitter there and jobbing them to the local jobbers every week.

Nope, TNA drew 850,000 viewers in their debut on Spike TV. Numbers went up from there.

After posting a 0.8 rating and 850,000
viewers for the October 1 Impact debut on Spike TV, TNA's viewership went up the second week. The estimated total number of viewers in week two was 900,000 viewers, drawing another solid 0.8 rating; the first week it rounded up to a 0.8, the second week it was rounded down to a 0.8.

I mean what did they expect. WCW had Hogan, Flair, Macho Man, Sting, etc. when they went prime time
AEW has Chris Jericho who was never a real draw and literally nobody else.
>>
>>6864625
damn and that's back when people had no other alternatives like internet to watch it. and they rarely ever went up more than 1.5. which means at best they were able to add another 600K viewers

I mean y'all can doubt what you said all you want. The fact is outside of this backwards Anti-Smark community Punk is a name casuals know. Yeah he's not going to bring in 5.0 ratings again, hell they'd be lucky to bring it to a 3.0 with just him, but I'd say if they gave it enough notice for casuals, around the ballpark of a Million with him announced is accurate.
>>
>TNA tried to compete with generational icon Hulk Hogan as their name draw
>AEW tries to compete with career midcarder Chris Jericho as their name draw
>A-AEW will be bigger than TNA was
I know Chris Jericho thinks he’s a way bigger deal than he is and the money mark and many internet smarks buy it but I never imagined this board would. Must be the newfriends
>>
>A start up show starts with low ratings

Are you all being purposely stupid or are you all actually retard? Did you all expect 1million viewers off the back of nothing right away?
>>
>>6866128
They did. For some reason. I don't understand.

It's basic logic. Start low and build a reputation and grow.

I don't understand how people were expecting massive returns from day one, that's not how any business works.

I assume that it is purposely being stupid for a meme argument and shitposting, as I can't really think someone would be that naive
>>
>>6866174
>reddit spacing
as expected for a AEW shill
>>
TNA was pulling around 1.5 million viewers in 2007. WWE was doing 4-4.5 million at the same time. Considering WWE's viewership has dropped by about 60% since then, I'd bet their first rating is around 550k viewers.
>>
>>6866174

This says more than your words ever will.
>>
>>6866188
Fucking retard
>>
>>6866201
I've never expected anything different, and anyone who did, AEW shill or not, is a fucking mongaloid
>>
>>6866201
Not the anon you are responding to.
But I was one of those realistic anons who tried to talk about AEW potential and what they can do, when they will announce stuff, who they will sign and so on.
On the way I was surprised by only one major fuckup. And that is PPV price. That is very bad. Very, very bad.
Other stuff? So far better than I expected.

>>

>>
>>6866259
I am not sure. I hope we get info on who thought it was a good idea to not go with 20 bucks. Because you have to pay to sub to the streaming service on top of that 50 bucks.
And you are not getting enough content, if you are a wrestling fan compared to other services out there.
60 bucks for a show (counting that 10 dollars) is too steep in the current market. Especially when industry leader has much more content and only for 10 dollars.
It's stupid.
>>
>>6866188
the reddit spacing meme is one that actually makes me seethe. ive been here since 2011 and if i format my post to be readable i get called a redditor.
>>
>>6866303
Fair. Can't say I know the in's and out's of it so will defer to your comments. Hopefully it doesn't fuck anything up for them.

Competition is nothing but a good thinf
>>
>>6864329
And then back to 400k the following week.
Shitposting aside, I realistically see it coming out strong with 1mil plus but it will lose steam a month or 2 in.
I want Monday Night Wars to be back tho, otherwise it's just another fed people will watch while watching wwe.
>>
>>6866332
The thing is, they announced the UK price. And that was reasonable. Translate the same price to US dollars and I would say, that is a good price. More expensive than WWE Network, but you are paying for the first show and people on it will try to do everything in their power to earn that money.
But 60 is too much. And will bring them bad press. Especially coupled with Meltzer's shoddy reporting on everything, where he always was hinting how he knows everything, but he was either lying or trying to help them, without knowing enough.
It made the whole thing seem overblown. he fucked up big time, but because he is a fucking autist, he doesn't see it.

>>
>>6866360
I wouldn't say it is overblown, or not to a damaging degree. End of the day AEW have a show on prime time on a major network. The only people listening to him are autists like us, and the TV deal is fantastic. And the people who pay attention to him are going to watch.

The PPV is too much, especially compared to UK. That's all fair.

In terms of bad press, they are not big enough to get that yet I don't believe. In terms of mainstream media, it is an exciting start up. In terms of wrestling media, it IS the biggest thing in the news and is rightly seen as a positive beyond people who don't even try to hide their disdain from the start
>>
>>6866420
I am not really super high on stuff on the show, there is one match I am very much into and I want to see how they book the show, but I am not really invested in it, like I am in other wrestling.
For me it is fun to watch this unfold and sit on the sidelines and try to bring at least some common sense to discourse on this board. Because you cannot have pure shitposting all the time, you have to have honest post here and there, otherwise the shitposting has no meaning.
Now I want them to introduce joshi tag team participants to their audience, so they know what to pop for in their match. They did poor job so far with them.
