Why dont any animals have wheels? Are they stupid or something? I mean wheels are a pretty elementary concept youd think over the 3 billion years of animals evolving on earth it would turn up (goteem) at least once.
That tortoise could hit 0 to 5 in 3 seconds. Think about it. That's basically mach five in the turtle world.
>>3137439Because they are a LOT more mobile than shitty humansLike I don't get how in evolution biped apes was a more effective meme then quadraped apes
>>3137450Climbing. And humans are one of the most mobile animals on Earth even discounting technology.
Why do you need wheels when you can have wings?
>>3137453See we did that to compensate for our akward bodiesbut what in nature, homonids and humans in most basic hunter gatherer level, is the advantage of being a biped? We are so easy to trip its hillarious
>>3137459Hands are open to be used. Ostriches are also fast bipeds, who use their wings to balance so they can run even faster. And we aren't really any easier to trip, but we are more capable of getting around obstacles.
Op here, nature can evolve microscopic motors to produce ATP in the inner membrane of a mitochondria but no wheels wtf
>>3137465There are wheels, just they are the entire body. And they suck ass, spiders use wind propulsion in the set up.
does someone remember that turtle with a skateboard strapped on?he must have felt like on WARP SPEED
>>3137450>>3137459Even bears sometimes walk on their hind legs to reach objects or gain a height advantage you goose.>We are so easy to trip its hilariousYou clearly don't know that this isn't some "human only" issue, quadruped center of gravity rests on all four legs and if they trip on one of them they usually always fall over, you just assume they don't because you don't see it all the time. There's dozens of videos out there of animals like large cats, other wildlife, and pets like dogs tripping while running or doing other activities that make them lose their balance. And all those videos are what just so happened to be captured on film at that moment.
>>3137439Because wheels only work downhill. And how the fuck would they even evolve? There's no way you can have musculature evolve into axles and shit for the wheel to rotate without stop and still be attached.
>>3137439It's not that helpful when the planet is full of downhills and branches and stuff
>>3138355Retard doesn't understand the mitochondrial membrane protein i posted last night obviously>>3138373So evolve treads? Like seriously i think animals are retarded
>>3137459It makes us taller. A prehistoric human male was probably like 150 pounds. Compare our height to other animals that size and we're like twice as tall. Gives us better visibility + the high ground + we can reach stuff on trees
>>3137439Not wheels but IIRC they found some small animal with a gear in its skeleton
>>3138459>So evolve treads?would you rather climb out of a small hole with treads or with sticky fingers that can grip and pull its body up?
>>3138459>So evolve treads?You mean snakes?
People have asked this all the time and I'm sure there have been many fun speculative evolution ideas based on trying to make it work but the bottom line is that the steps getting towards a having wheels is just too much. You need a rotating part on an axis, somehow detached from the body, not even considering the fact that wheels would only work in certain environments, and it'd all have to happen over the course of time. How do you do that???like I said though, I'm sure there's lots of speculative evolution ideas on the subject
>>3137454>constricted to 00000000.1% of earths surface
Wheels are fucking useless in nature for the purposes of locomotion. Do I really have to explain why? For a start there are no roads. Also animals are not "stupid" for not evolving wheels, this literally has nothing to do with intelligence.>>3138355>>3138782This
>>3137439Some plants in open areas form balls that are rolled by the wind. Looks like a wheel to me.
>>3137540tripping animals thread?
>>3138952This! Sponges are brainlets, but they are the most successful and durable animals in earth's history.Intelligence is just an adaptation for survival.
>>3138459>mitochondrial membrane proteinThat's fucking less than microscopic, you dumb fucking cunt. If it's so fucking good then why hasn't it popped up on a macro scale in the 3 billion years organisms were around, you faggot. It has never evolved and never will evolve for as long as the planet exists.
>>3138785>roads built connecting everything we need and more.
>>3138989>3 billion years organisms were around4-5 billion. Earth had life before it finished cooling.
>>3138782The only timeline i see could be feasible is if it stated on a still attached pivot designed to continuously rock back and forth, but i don't have any ideas of why an animal would need to do that.
>>3139006Seafloor scavenger/filter feeder.
>>3137439wheels are extremely limited to the ground and need streets to work. They only are good for long distance movement of heavy stuff, NOT for transportation.
>>3139001>why haven't animals evolved a useless and needlessly complicated feature in the last 100 years?
>>3139093Never seen a mountain bike huh
>>3139004Ya but they didnt come onto land until about 3 bya
