Kitty was running around playing, now she has some blood on her paw. Doesn't look too serious, it's not bleeding anymore. Should I do anything for it? :^(
>>3133452She probably snagged her claw on something. She'll probably suck and lick it some until it feels better. Don't worry unless a few days pass and she's limping or yowling in pain. Happens to every cat I've ever had.
He just had his nuts cut off, say something nice about him
>alcoholic slut gets kitten>films it jumping in toiletWhat is the proportionate reaction? I dont think she should own this cat. Not sure where it was adopted from.
>>3133523I'm sure the kitten's okay, but I'd like to take this time to rant about the fact that Instagram sluts need to stop getting pets like they are accessories and then acting surprised when the animal they weren't prepared to handle has needs greater than that of a shiny diamond ring.
>>3133526>>3133529Assuming she didn't flush him, laugh and move on. Kittens are retarded and his antics were supervised.Privately I'd worry tho.t. alcoholic

Any of you have cats that are small for their age? Pic related is 18yo but is about the size of a 5mo kitten
>>3133327not for me, for the shelter I volunteer with, and just for shits n giggles
>>3134099Mine is about a year and a half old and only weighs 7.5 lbs. Trying to feed her up and get her thicc, she was a stray for a long time.
How unethical would it be to starve my cat for a day or so in the hopes that he finally starts killing some of the mice I've been seeing? He has the skill and ability but I feel that his belly is full all the time and thus has no interest in hunting.
>>3134150You shouldn't have a cat
gUYS I catched a pic of the big ugly gray cat that's been raping my little Hitlerina
>>3134150not slightly unethical since there's mice for him to eat.
>>3134563>Gray catThat's brown and white. Also why would you give your cat such a stupid name?>>3134564What if he doesn't know how to hunt? Also just because it's a cat doesn't mean it likes mouse meat

Say good night to Hitlerina .
Got my 4 month kitten spayed today. All the stitches are internal stitches.Do I really need to get a cone for her? I tried putting it on and she hates it so much
>>3133574I have two kits from the same litter but one just grew way bigger than the other, 4 months old and he’s 2.8kg to her 1.5kg, with the body size to match that weight. They always playfight but almost every fight ends in her getting pinned down yelping and trying to get away while he nips her hind legs :(
>>3133514He is a very pretty boy
Guys I foster for a shelter and why are all these hoarded cats so friendly and seemingly relatively well adjusted? Like all except one I've come across are friendly, they get along with people and most even get along with other cats. Thought they were supposed to be traumatized. If anyone is on the market for a friendly cat, go to your local shelter, check out the older kitties, and if you find one you like and it turns out they're from a hoarding situation snatch that moggie up they are gold
>>3134750Just watch her. Most times they don't really need the cone unless your vet sucks and the incision bothers her.
She truly loves me
>>3134848At least you took that dumb harness off her
>>3134563cats dont rape because cats can't rape. She probably stuck her butt in his face and let nature take its course. Male cats only respond to female cats in heat, get your girl spayed
>>3134955yeah stop your poor girl from getting barbed.
>>3134955>>3134992she already had her uterus removed
>>3133170wow nice pic qualitydid you add saturation or is it the raw out from the camera
First time cat owner since today. Twins. 4 months old. I think i fell in love with them. Here's one checking out the sink in his new home
So we have a new kitten around I am watching for a friend. My cat is really chill and he is nice to him so they get along. Earlier today I go to clean the litter box, but then I notice the little kitten did not bury his turd. Right next to it is my cats own turd which dwarfs it. Its unusual because he didn't bury his either. The logical conclusion I drew from it is that my cat must have attempted to display a show of dominance by poop mogging thr kitten
>>3134575Buy a petstore mouse for him to torture as practice. Just don't release it somewhere it can get loose.
>>3134790It's probably because at least half of hoarders start with good intentions and then it gets out of hand. They probably do love and do their best to care for all of those cats, but little old ladies can't take care of 30 cats.
>>3133170has science gone too far?
>>3135249What a little muffin! What're their names?
>>3135550Cute but also sad
>start car week ago >hear scratching and mewing >extract two perfectly healthy young kittens >definitely less than 8 weeks old idk how old >had them for a week >called literally 9 shelters within an hour of me and all of them are full >already have two cats don't want two more What do I do? I refuse to just leave them outside and I don't want to just put them on craigslist or something...
>>3135673Foster them until theyre old enough to be adopted maybe? Or find someone else who would do the same
>>3135681My final solution would be to post about them on the public facebook page for my town but I feel like that's less likely they'll get a good home. When I first found them they wouldn't eat food but i kind of put some wet kitten food on a qtip and put it in their mouth and they figured it out. I might end up having to do that desu, it's just a burden because they're at a relatives house and I hate taking up a room there (even if it's a room they don't use)
>>3135684Cute, I mean if you were up north in the anglosphere I'd see about taking them off your hands
>>3135685Sadly I'm in the Midwest
>>3135690Also another picture because why not
>>3135690That's unlucky, wish you the best in finding them a home though, grey kots have a place in my heart
>>3134102>the shelter I volunteer for had a kitten named "spaghetti" a while back. is it just me or are weird/noun names far more endearing? I'd be far more interested in hanging with a cat called something like "towel" rather than a regular human name
Is it normal for cats/kittens to have two speeds? My 5 month old (male) is either chill or speedy retard, and he's impossible to pick up when in his play mode. I just had him outside exploring the yard and had to pick him up to put him inside and he scratched and bit the shit out of me. 15 minutes later I went back inside and picked him up like normal. Also twice now he's randomly gone aggressive when I approach him, like hissing and full on posturing. Is this normal or will it stop when he gets older/neutered?
So I see a lot of stuff on here about how you should be feeding you cat expensive, obscure brands of cat food. I don't. My family has had cats my entire life, they never got any special food, and with the exception of one of them none of them had any major health complications until they were so old it was inevitable. I try to feed my cat a balanced diet of fish, beef and poultry. I don't buy super cheap food for him, but I don't exactly pay out the ass for specialty catfood either. Talking to vets about this kind of thing, they seem less concerned too. How many people here actually follow the dietry stuff that's stickied here. My cat is 5 and he's perfectly healthy.
>>3135808wet cat food is far far better than dry food
>>3135810I'm aware of this. I feed my cat wet food far more than dry food. However for a long time I fed him next to no dry food, other than dental things to clean his teeth. He had to get a tooth out once because it had basically rotted and I was told this was attributed to a lack of dry food, even though I feed him dental stuff. So the vets tell me dry food is important for dental hygiene, even if I am using dental things to keep his oral health good.
>>3135330My poor guy did this when he had to wear the cone.
>>3135808I feed mine chicken and chicken livers. Occasional sardines a couple times a week. Since switching to this diet they are way healthier and much more excited for feeding times.
>>3133526>>3133529post pic of alcoholic slut. asking for a friend
>>3135801Totally normal. Sperg and sweetheart. I've got one the same age. Just had him snipped, he's starting to chill a bit more now.
>>3135879Alright cool, starting to get annoyed by his sperging around the house but he's not old enough for me to throw him outside yet. We'll see who laughing when we cut his balls off.
>>3135811this is such a myth, no dry food is not good for their teeth, the carbs in cat food are bad for their teeth. Just brush their teeth, that's actually good, or go to great lengths to feed them home prepared food that those fuckers wont eat anyway because fancy feast has cat crack in it or something
>>3135901They will eat it if you refuse to feed them anything else. Mine refused it for a day and then after realizing that was the only food available she ate it just fine.
>>3133242I'm a big fan of Bombay/Burmese-type-breeds
>>3135749Food names are top-tier
>>3134003Usual recommendation is ~30 min following event, barring some kind of clotting disorder. Most pets don't need a bandage after a blood draw, you see that more typically for IV catheters
>>3134099My preferred breed is Persians/Himalayans, they always look around 5# heavier because of the fur
>>3134150Very unethical, cats who miss meals are very prone to hepatic lipidosis compared to dogs or humans
>>3135948>Liking the pug equivalent of cat breeds
>>3135960Compared to certain brachy dog breeds, more allowance is made in the Persian breed for moderate faces vs. the extreme pansy face
>>3135970Wasn't there some anon who had a dollface Persian in the general at some point?
>>3135973Maybe, though most reputable breeders/owners don't prefer the term "dollface" because it's used a lot in BYB marketing
>>3135749Agreed. Have two named Gherkin and Dijon
>>3135901>or go to great lengths to feed them home prepared foodI literally just throw raw meat and offals into a bowl.
>>3135890>those claw marksdefinitive proof of cat ownership
>>3135801Both things are normal. The dislike of being picked up during playtime is instinct to spend waking hours learning to hide from predators and hunt prey, so as a result kittens often don’t like to be picked up during playtime. As for the sperging out, yeah thats normal, kitty is starting to go through his teenage phase so his hormone levels are wonky. When he is fixed they will level out quite a bit.
One of these two is guilty of chewing up headphones. Who could be behind such a crime
>>3134150Mean and I doubt it works. Mine catches most right after a good meal and hunting is instinct, not hunger. If you want a hunter cat, you should adopt one that is known to kill a lot of mice. You could try playing more with the cat, though, maybe it just needs a little input.>>3134757Not unusual if different dads are possible. Also it might not even be the size, male cats tend to play more rough than most female ones would like which can cause stress between them. I'd try to power the guy out so he doesn't feel the need to go all out with his sister. If that doesn't work you might have to eventually switch him for a female/ her for a male / get another male kitten so he has someone to fight with.>>3134790Most cats get along with most other cats if they grew up in a group. Horder cats are most likely traumatized by dirty living conditions, too much cats in small spaces and the stress that comes with it but a shitload of 'normal' cats are way more fucked up by growing up without other cats, without the needed social attention (which is more than two hours of playtime a day) and most likely punishment for being a lonely (loud, annoying) and bored (agressive, destructive) kitten.Search for single kitten syndrom. A lot of rescues and shelters don't adopt them out alone anymore since they'll most likely come back a year later with behaviour issues.>>3135278Likely. Expecially if they have to share a litterbox, better get one or two more in that case.
>>3135801Better put him back down as soon as he wiggles to teach him he doesn't have to get violent to get the message across.I guess most kittens are 95% play/fight and 5% cuddle, it'll grow into the opposite while they get older but it might take some years. They never really loose those two speeds, even older cats can turn a cuddle session into a fight or chase if they feel like it.>randomly gone aggressive when I approach him, like hissing and full on posturingI'd say not normal if he's not a stray. This looks like he's afraid of you. Try to build trust by listening to what he wants, for example don't pick him up or pet him if his body language says he doesn't like it. Bond with him by playfighting, clicker training and snack hunting. Also slow blink a lot if he looks afraid of you, talk with him and don't approach or just turn around and leave.
>>3135808It's really mostly compared to cheap dry food that barely has meat in it.Feeding a healthy raw diet is better than wet food but also way more complicated since if you don't have access to whole prey you'll have to supplement if you want to make sure you aren't lacking or overdosing on some nutrients.Canned food is a safer bet for most but I'd also feed several brands of that since on a lower skale the lack/overdose issues are still present if you feed the same thing for years. By the way, the price isn't really telling, of course good wet food it pricier than the garbage one but the really expensive special brand food is often just as shit or has a ton of extras that may make it seem appealing to humans but are more risk than favour to the cats.>my cat is 5 and he's perfectly healthyThat's just saying you don't feed total garbage. IF your feeding has some deficiancy/overdose the health issues will probably only show in later life and might be confused with normal old age problems.https://www.cathelp-online.com/health/dietary3.php
>>3136191Yeah I never pick him up when he's in the speedy mood (he's too fast anyway), but I couldn't leave him alone outside so I just had to go for it. It was a first for both of us.He could be afraid of me, I've lost my temper and yelled at him a few times for touching/breaking things he's not supposed to. He's otherwise nice though, he jumps into my lap several times a day to sleep, he's currently doing it now. Same if I'm taking a nap on the couch, he'll come and sleep next to or on me.He was only 7 or 8 weeks when I got him, and I've heard something like they don't learn how to properly playfight when weaned too early, so there might be something there too.
>>3136183Statistically speaking, it's the black one.
anons i need your helpso I rescued a feral cat a while ago and have relocated. current house i'm in has dogs. cat hates dogs. thinking about buying pic related to give the cat his own space without the dogs fucking things up. the dogs stay downstairs but i'm still worried about this fucker getting down there and starting a fight. anyone have experience with these gates?
My three month old kitten keeps nursing on my male cat of four years.I kinda want him to stop, since the cat just grew his stomach hair back after a lot of overgrooming. Anything I can do?Also he keeps running away from me, and I'm not chasing him around, but it's a bummer that he freaks out whenever I walk around him. Feeding him isn't earning his trust very much.
>>3136242yeah but the tabby one looks like a psychopath who's well aware of what they've done and are covering that up with overcompensating "good boy" behavior. The black one hasn't got a clue there was ever a crime committed
>>3136285>My three month old kitten keeps nursing on my male cat of four years.>I kinda want him to stop, since the cat just grew his stomach hair back after a lot of overgrooming. >>3136357Yes, yes I would
>>3136296>>3136299generally the tabby is the good one of the two, but she gets into trouble when she thinks I'm not looking
>>3134791Thanks! Its been a couple days after the spay surgery. All the stitches are pretty good. She rarely bothers them at all.The only thing I'm worried about is she is occasionally sneezing. Is that suppose to be normal? Her appetite is still good. She is pooping normally too.
Does anyone else get heart broken when they go over to a friend or family member's home and their family cat is absolutely desperate for affection because no one ever gives it some one on one time or is that just me
My kitteh got stung by a hornet today. He's fine but his hiney is still sore. What can I do to make him feel better?
>>3136721Give him pets and extra treats for being brave!

I have a story, /kot/So me and my bf are trying to get our cat to sleep with us, she do sometimes but not every night. Yesterday me and bf were having fun with our friendly vibrator. I cleaned the thing and put it in a drawer near our bed. Apparently, it can turn on itself if it's not turned off properly, idk maybe it's broken. Anyway, we put a computer chair closer to the bed because that's where cat likes to sleep. The plan is getting cat to sleep closer to us and eventually in bed. So we're all sleeping peacefully when around 3am the thing in the drawer decides to wake up and goes DRRRRRRRRRRRR, and the sound was so creepy and sudden and really loud. In the middle of dreaming and reality I thought about monstrous bulldozer zombies attack. Of course, cat is extremely panicked and left the room in 2 seconds to hide in a bathroom. After we solved the sound problem I went to check her. She was scared but also sleepy so I gave her some time, petted and took her in our room again. Surprisingly she went to sleep in the same spot but seemed cautious. tl;dr a vibrator almost ruined sleeping for our cat
>>3136812Extra fluffy, wish my boy was that much of a fluffer
Guys I need help, im stuck between which cat to get. So I've been looking at a 4 month old Birman kitten, or a 9 month old Benghal. The Birman was really cute. I could pick her up and carry her around without her protesting at all. Seemed like a really chill kitten. The Benghal on the other hand was a bit nervous as I was a new person and didnt really to let me come near. It was immedieatly ready to play as soon as I picked up a toy though, I got really fascinated by how athletic it was.I have a hard time choosing which one to pick though. First one was a cute kitten who seemed really easy going and chill. The other one was pretty active, and I got told its social once it gets to know you. I kinda wanna have a cat I can play with, but also one I can relax with sometimes when I come home. Also before you guys scream I Should adopt instead, I am not buying from a breeder. Im buying from people who does not have the time for their cats.
>>3136665It's how I ended up with another kitten. She's a sweetheart though, I kinda don't mind it too much.>>3137042Both, if you can swing it. They'll be happier for it.
>>3137045I dont have the money for that. My concern with the benghal is, how much it will break/how active it will be.
>>3136357Id attempt to but then it would run off to the food bowl expecting food at 3am

What is your favourite cat toy and what's your cat's favourite cat toy? Mine like the elastic stuff the best
>>3137236One places a beer bottle on his back and hands, he's always ready to serve
>>3134111>>3134099Mine is turning 7 and she's around 8lbs, and short. She was abandoned as a kitten, so maybe she was just a runt. she was getting around 11-12lbs, but she started getting 2thicc4me so i started feeding less.
>>3136285Trying to redirect the behaviour is worth a shot, Put something between them like a little plush toy, cloth or similar he can suck and lick all he wants.
But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and my kitty cat is the sun!
why does my cat rub his face on my dog's tail/assthe dog is a big fluffy longhair german and whenever he lays down my cat loves to roll around on and rub his face into the dog's tail. the cat drools all over himself and everything. is it the ass pheromones or is my cat autistic
>>3137360They have quite the tail, it's like a raccoons
>>3137359>P.S. this was in the stereo
>>3137234Pull toys on a stick. Make those kitty cats run for it. My cats also love tunnels and I'm really surprised just how much they like it. My oldest just looks so comfy in it.
Guys my Hitlerina is acting all weirdWe're going to sleep so I put her in my bed, then all of a sudden she started to jump scared. Then she went under the bed then she started walking around the room and touching things scared like cats do when it's new objectsBut she was used to my room at this point
>>3137505She might have heard something you didn't. Is the weather doing something odd? Just watch her. If she's still being odd in the morning, maybe vet. Trust your gut on these kinds of things. Also, she's probably seeing the ghosts of the millions upon millions of rats that survived multiple camps because of her inept plot to exterminate them.
My cat's purr suddenly got very loud, is there an specific reason for it? She is 4 years old now.

>My cats are allowed to roam freely outside>I free-feed them (meaning they always have food in their bowl) Come at me :)
>>3135901If it's a myth, why have a number of vets told me it is?Why is there an industry based around dental things for cats, which is dry food?Forgive me if I'm skeptical.
>>3135901>Just brush their teethYeah, no. I can't say I haven't thought about it, but god knows how difficult that would be do once a day
Félicette was the first cat launched into space, on 18 October 1963 as part of the French space program. Félicette was one of 14 female cats trained for spaceflight. The cats had electrodes implanted onto their skulls so their neurological activity could be monitored throughout the flight. Electrical impulses were applied to the brain and a leg during the flight to stimulate responses. The capsule was recovered 13 minutes after the rocket was ignited. Most of the data from the mission was of good quality, and Félicette survived the flight, the only cat to have survived spaceflight. A second feline was launched on 24 October, but the mission resulted in a fatality. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Félicettehttps://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Félicette>Hail Félicette! We just introduced my girlfriend's cat (3 years) to a new kitten (4 months). They seem to get along really well. They sleep on our bed together, play together, etc.Problem is that the older cat isn't eating. He barely ate before (he almost never finished any of his meals, a lot of times his breakfast became his dinner) and his allergies caused him to overgroom, so we've been keeping him on the one food that seems to do the trick, though it is making him a little thicc. But he's eating less now, and it's concerning. Any ideas what's up?
I recently got this girl and she's a cutie. How accurate are shelters when determining the cats' age? They said she was 3 years but she looks small for that age and acts like a kitten. My roommate said she seems like a 1 year old instead. I assume they determine age from the skeleton so I don't know how possible it would be for them to get it very far off. Also, she loves scratching at hands. Almost anytime you try to pet her she tries to bite your hand and play with it. So far she does it in a playful manner but it gets annoying if I just want to pet her. Is there a way, like using a spray bottle that would stop her from doing this? There are 2 scratching post surfaces that I have but she's never used them, even when I place her there when she's clawing.
>>3137901I tend to boop my cats nose if they bite a little too much, after a while they learn, redirecting the scratching takes some time aswell. As for the age, I've got no idea, you're better off asking the vet about that
>>3137901Pretty sure they determine by the teeth, not sure the details but it's moderately accurate
My cat likes biting my wires and playing with my objects, it's so cute
>>3136665I am the friend's kitten
>take cat to vet for routine checkup>vet pulls her mouth open to check her teeth and throat>big swollen mass on the back of her tongue>mfw I let them keep her for a few hours to do a biopsy of itIt's gonna be at least a week for the biopsy to have any results, although I can pick her up tonight. I'm so worried it's gonna be cancer. Hold me bros.
>>3137926It's just a cat
>>3137837That's pretty cool. We should honor our animal heroes (and generally STOP animal testing of all sorts but I digress).
>Kitten keeps jumping in front of my foot when I'm walking>Tries to claw and bite feet when I don't stop to give him attentionI'm sure he just has a lot of energy and wants to play, but I swear to god this little retard is going to wind up getting kicked or stepped on by mistake if he keeps doing this crap. He is basically invisible if the lights are off at night.I try to play with him a ton during the day but he never runs out of energy. Is this a boy cat thing or just a personality thing? None of my female cats ever fucked around this much when they were young.
>>3137960Boy cats are a special brand of kitty sperg. Accept that he's going to get kicked or stepped on. Just wait it out, he'll chill within a couple months. Make sure he's getting plenty of play time. Maybe get him a little breakaway collar with a bell on it for now.

>>3137776Tfw no (you)s
>>3137878He’s probably stressed sharing a space that was his with another cat. watch for a couple days to see if he relaxes or maybe move his dish to a more private area, like a bedroom with the door closed

>Things are going great with cat>All of a sudden she's started beelining straight for the back of my PC and attacks the wires>Start with gentle persuasion to coax her out>Think that maybe I'm not playing with her enough or too little attention>Play with her a lot more and pet/scratch her all the time>Still goes behind the desk>Have to move up to physically removing her>As soon as I remove her she goes back to behind the desk instantly>Okay I'll give her lots of attention>Play with her a bunch>Goes right back to the desk again>Now have to shut her out of my room entirelyIt's so hot in my room now. I hate this. I dunno why she suddenly started doing this. I know I'm not supposed to feed into the attention seeking behavior, but I can't not stop her from attacking my wires. She could get hurt. Guess I could buy some pheromone stuff to rub over my wires.
>>3138544Use hot sauce. I had a kitty who always went behind the TV to chew wires and that fixed it right away
How do I trim my old kots nails? she flinches and flails when i try
Is having a single cat that terrible for them? I got mine as soon as they let him go from the litter. He's about a year old and doing good. Is there still a chance it can get bad?
>>3138692I trim my cat's when theyre sleepy. Petting and treats also help a ton. My cat is pretty chill in general though and has gotten used to me doing weird shit to it like trimming and brushing teeth, etc. A lot of people also recommend doing 1 and taking a short break.
>>3137901I heard that if a female cat prior to reaching maturity physically gets impregnated and has kittens, that permanently stunts their growth or developing larger. Dunno if that is true or not though.
>>3136813Are you a girl (male)?
Thats Debbie and this is her chicken leg.
>>3138977If he's already a year old, he's already adapted to being a single cat. He's as good or bad as he's gonna get. Introducing a fren now could ultimately be OK, but at least in the short term it may make him anxious about sharing territory. Personally I wouldn't do it, but others may disagree.
>>3138544Is she going behind the desk because it's comfy or do you think your pc fans or flashy rgb or something is attracting her? You could just move your rig and wiring out of reach, tie all the wires together so they look less dangly and "playable"
>>3138544My experience - cats get obsessed about shit. Get her out of there and separate her from you (put her out of the room or whatever) for a week or so and she'll simply lose interest. So many things we didn't want our cat to do he just sort of stopped obsessing over doing after a couple of weeks. They want a rise out of you. If you give it to them they win. Just deny them your presence when they're acting out and they'll start to learn how to chill.
>>3139036>(put her out of the room or whatever) for a week or sowait....I meant - put her out of the room for 15-20 minutes when she's acting up, then let her back in to try again. I didn't mean put them in solitary for a week, kek.
>>3138977It's bad if single kittens don't get enough playtime and social contact since that can lead to behaviour issues if they learn they'll get attention only by being loud, agressive and destructive. Or they give up and start to just lay around al day doing nothing but sadly that's mostly seen as normal cat behaviour instead of a problem. Some really need their 5+ hours action a day and if they end up with owners that underestimated that need or just expected a behaviour like from a 10+ year old cat nobody will be happy in that household. With 1 year his 'bad phase' should be right now or just recently over, so if you can still keep up with his playtime demands you're good. Also if cats grow up in a friendly relationship with other cats they're way more likely to accept other cats in their home later in life which leaves the option of a second cat more easily available if the cat gets bored or lonely eventually..With 1 year he'll already take more time to get used to a playmate than a kitten but seems to get worse with age. So if you do want a second cat the best bet would be to get one as soon as possible.
>>3137960The boy cat thing is that he loved to play fight more, girl cats seem to be more into chase and toys. Kittens are mostly full of energy, just power him out even if it takes a few hours a day. If you can't manage or want to, that's when a second male cat around the same age would be the best solution. Also yes, you will step on him or stumble over him a lot in your life but that happens to most if not all catfags.
>>3137901She'll stop to play with your hand as soon as you play with her enough. Let her get rid of that energy, 3 years is still a yung cat. Playing is a basic need, if you want cuddles only a really really old cat would have been better. As long as you understimulate her she'll always act 'overstimulated' by the tiniest move that could be interpreted as playtime.
>>3138990"Your cat can get pregnant from the age of four months and have the kittens when she is six months old, barely more than a kitten herself... Having kittens that young is not good for their health either, and can stunt their growth."Anecdotally, any cat I've met that had kittens young was quite small, though that may also have to do with the fact that they were all strays before they had babies. My neighbor has been "looking after" the local cat population, but not neutering any of them, so there's a big hills have eyes clan of cats hanging around :-/
What does it mean when a cat licks your hand?
>>3139264Either there is something they want to eat on your hand or they are grooming you
Is there a version of this toy that isn't loud as fuck? My cat loves it and I personally don't mind the noise, but I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment (wooden floor) and I'm pretty sure my downstairs neighbor is getting pissed.
>>3139057I heard once from a breeder when she was new to the business that she let her first female get pregnant way too early. Her maternal instincts hadn't surfaced yet so she saw her kittens as a free snack.

>mom is basically on the path to being a crazy cat lady, lives alone with her 9 (formerly 10 but the oldest died of natural causes back in May) >this was fine as long as she was healthy enough to take care of them but she has developed health problems over the last year, mainly heart issues and blood sugar problems (she's diabetic but was well managed before.>house is filthy, I live several hours away now I can't help her on a daily basis, cats are still fed and get proper litter box changes but I wonder for how long.>I have two cats on my own and live in a small apartment and as such can't take any of them.>they're all friendly and well socialized, I want to try and get a couple of them into a no kill shelter but when I brought it up my mom had a fit. Can I force her to give up her cats? I don't want them to suffer because she can't take of them any more.
I'd love to cat but I'm not going to wait until I'm financially secure first. Is it better to start with a kitten or adopting an adult cat? I like the sound of a kitten better because they're more "yours" and they'd live longer but I understand they're harder to deal with than adults. Is it okay to start with an adult cat and get a kitten sometime later or will the cat be too territorial?
>>3135673How are there so many stories of people here just finding kittens? Are there a shitload of strays in the US? I live in Australia and I think they're less popular than dogs generally or we don't have anywhere near as many strays because I don't think I've seen any in the cities or suburbs I've lived inDo people usually keep them? No clue what I'd do if it were me
>>3139456Adult cats are way less stress. Kittens suck and they may grow up to be sucky adult cats. At least with adult cats, you usually know what you get save for how they interact with rare shit like dogs, kids, and fireworks.
Is there a way to deal with toy aggression in kittens or should I let it be? One of my kitties has a toy he likes lots, if he sees it he picks it up and carries it all around the house. The problem is if one if the other cats so much as looks at him or comes close he begins growling and raising his heckles at them, and follows them around growling until they get stressed and start hissing back. If I take the toy away everything seems to settle down, and its literally just the one toy he does it with, but I don’t want to take his favourite toy away
>>3136191>Better put him back down as soon as he wiggles to teach him he doesn't have to get violent to get the message across.I heard the opposite was true because if you put them down when they struggle they'll learn and do that every time they get picked up? I don't own a cat though so I'm probably wrong
>>3133435>white nationalist>has chinese cat
>>3134955Yeah, that's a lie. Cats rape each other all the time.
>>3139387Where do you live?
>>3139563Both are true, cats learn far better from positive reinforcement than negative. If you put the cat down, it learns that “if I struggle I get what I want” strongly, but if you don’t put it down it learns “if I get picked up i’m held for a long time” weakly, since thats a negative experience. The method I used with my kitties is to give them a treat while being held before they struggle, then keep holding them for about 5-10 seconds after they want down. They associate being held with receiving a treat, don’t get their way instantly, and don’t have a particularly negative experience. You can also try holding them like a baby with their head in the crook of your arm, since they are fairly secure that way and may be more calm not being suspended over open air
Hi /kot/ pls help. I'm a visitor from other boards, so forgive me if an issue like this has been frequently addressed.>wife and I adopt 6 year old cat - Tonks>Tonks home #1 - Drug addict, police check on owner during wellness check, find starved cat eating plastic and pills that were on the ground. Owner arrested for other reasons and cat abandoned>Tonks home #2 - adopted by family with 7 cats in large house, gets bullied by other cats, develops obesity. Other cats prevented her from food access, so when she would eat, she would go hard>Tonks home #3 - Us, previous owners are mutual friends, they knew Wife was interested in a cat. Said she had some slight social anxiety and a weight problem. Wife has owned many cats before, says that Tonk's behavior is odd, and the cat comes across as very dumb/low IQ. 1200 Sq.foot ground level apartment, 2 bedrooms, plenty of windows. We've had her for coming on 2 years.Wife is officer in navy, she's been gone for 2 months. I work from home, and travel to different cities 2/3x a month. When we're both gone, a neighbor checks on her. Longstanding Behavior issues:Incredibly frantic/panicked meowing if she was alone for the first 6-10 months. Eats/attempts to eat literally any plastic/inorganic material small enough for her mouth. Is on an automated feeder. Some days she will sit next to the feeder, headbutt it and meow at for hours in a row, can't be distracted with play/taking her into another room.NEW Behavior Issues:Used 1 litterbox for entire time of having her. Since wife left, she started peeing in two other locations in the house (varied between spraying/squatting)Had a recent work trip to Boston 7 days. Neighbor checked on her day 2 and 4, cat was fine. On the night of the 4th day, or sometime past this the cat clawed open our folding laundry room door, and jumped behind the washer/dryer. There are borders on the lateral borders to the wall, so the cat had to jump down INTO the gap. contd
>Things going great with cat>Always nuzzling and purring>Sleeps in my bed>Slept on my foot last night>Play hard together>Has no interest in snuggling and/or my lapB-bros, I just want some snugs.
>>3139730p2.>Had to tear the washing machine out of it's frame to pull the cat out. She was stuck in the same orientation peeing and pooping backwards while facing the corner of this tiny laundry closet. >After cleaning and sanitizing the area, I still can't close/babyproof the door because when closed it starts to reek of urine. I'm actively trying to find more chemicals to get the smell out of the walls. I've spent upwards of $200 on it so far. >Flip a table and a large mirror on it's side to make a 4ft.high wall around the area, keep one of the laundry room door panels shut>wake up 4 days ago to frantic meowing. Cat stuck behind washing machine again>repeat the process, get the cat out. Increase barrier structure, douse area in 3 brands of deterrent spray. Barriers are now 5 feet high.>wake up today to frantic meowing. Cat stuck behind washing machine v3.>she knocked over the garbage can to provide an elevation boost to jump over the barrier, jump onto the washing machine, to jump down into the holeIt's like this cat has a death wish to access this area she keeps getting trapped in. I went out and bought some thick wire mesh to cover the 4 inch gap on the back of the washer/dryer. She has 2 (formerly 3) litter boxes that are cleaned daily, food access, and is brushed/played with daily. Has anyone dealt with something like this before? She has plenty of places to hide/perch, but is obsessed with launching herself into this fucking closet and dying. Is my cat trying to an hero? What the fuck do I do.
>>3139731>I just want some snugsthat's what makes cats so great, they're their own little person instead of being a slave. If cats don't like something they won't do it. Doesn't mean it doesn't like you though, it may just not like sitting on laps in general.
>>3139730>>3139741Old issues:Sounds like she's very hungry or at least doesn't trust you to feed her enough yet. I'd try fixing the food anxiety by feeding more but smaller portions everytime she asks for it so she can start to loose that fear of starvation. Also protein rich, good wet food is best for this since it fills her up while providing relatively little calories. The plastic eating might also be an unrelated stress syndrom or pica syndrome.New issues:I'd guess it's mostly stress related since she was abandoned so much she likely thought you have left her too. Make sure to be extra nice to her while you're home and maybe find someone who can move in when you're both away. Our cat once stopped eating and started hiding all day despite a neighbour checking in 3 times a day and she didn't even have a traumatic past so every other day really isn't much. Expecially if there's no hour of cuddles and playtime involved. Cats have more social needs than most people give them credit for.About the dryer issue: Get enzyme cleaner to break down the smell. At this point I'd just install a fenced door you can close. Just build a sturdy doorframe and put wire onto it so the air can flow but the cat can't reach the place. If there isn't something interesting (mice? bugs?) in that place it's possible that she does it to get attention. Shower her with affection and fun every day but not after she does something stupid (negative attention also is attention). All in all it might be a good idea to set a firm time for daily brushing and maybe add clicker training or snack hunting, some anxious cats respond very well to that kind of thing.
>getting ready for work, throwing ball to kot while i get ready like everyday>he goes to the litterbox>comes back covered in wet shitKnowing how much he hates baths this is not the way either of us wanted our day to start
>>3139730re: omg starving food issueHave you had her thyroid and/or fasting glucose checked at the vet? Not saying it's a tumor/cancer or the beetus, just that they're worth ruling out medically.
>>3139830Thanks for the reply, the vet had her on a weight loss plan with special food during her first few months with us, and since then she's been fine. >>3139775Thank you as well. I appreciate the help. I've tried a few food strategies so far, maybe I'm being incredibly stupid with it. >tried leaving her with a filled bowl all the time>She will eat until she vomits (right next to the bowl)>She will the continue to eat either her food or her vomit, depending on which one is closer to her face at that secondThis is when we moved to the automated feeder. Her feeder is also in our kitchen (is that okay?) so whenever I'm in there to cook/clean, she's crying literally the entire time unless I give her food. If I give in to her crying to feed her, she'll continue regardless of quantity. For experiment's sake, I tried for a while, the most I got in a row was 8 bouts of crying->food->crying->food. It seems like she'll do it literally forever. Her weight has been at maintenance for months, so I thought I was feeding her the correct amount. As for the washer/dryer area, there's literally nothing back there. It's on the internal face of the building, with no gaps in the gym. So no bugs/mice. When she's seen any insects, she's been very afraid/disinterested in the past. I can't come up with any "logical" incentive for her to get herself stuck. I'm going to run to petco and get whatever clicker and snacks they recommend. Again, thank you all very much for your time.
hey /kot/ this is my sister's kot - McLovin. she's a tad overweight but is very affectionate.
>>3139952What about just feeding her yourself (no feeder) whenever you're home then weening off to 1-3 times a day like normal? Feed her yourself when you can then leave her with a tiny bit of dry food (so it doesn't spoil) if you leave for an extended period. Resume feeding yourself when you're back.
There's a built and bulky ginger cat that terrorize other stray cats I feed. How could I prevent this?
>>3139952Since when do you have hr? My ex stray needed about two years to learn there will always be enough food and started leaving something for later.I think that kind of trauma can do a lot of damage so patience and keep being good owners will hopefully do the trick eventually.
>>3140004>MclovinWhat a stupid name.I love it
>>3139952Like I was saying earlier (>>3139036) cats obsess over shit sometimes that we just don't understand. Maybe try giving her a small box just barely big enough for her to fit in near the dryer room door. Could be she just knows that's a super secret "safe" spot she can wedge herself in tight and she likes that, just not that she can't get out again.Another thing I've noticed about hungry cats, if you pick them up and cuddle the hell out of them with their favorite kind of rubs for 10-15 minutes they may forget all about food for a while. It's the endorphin release they're after. Might be applicable here.I agree with >>3140091 on regular feedings with a small amount of dry food left out between feeding times that she won't gorge on. High protein, good quality wet food will be more satiating too. The other thing to consider is that she IS on a weight-loss diet so you ARE starving her, to some degree. She doesn't know what's good for her but you do. You're in control and have her best interests and health in mind.I really wish you the best. Please report back. Others will probably have different or better advice, I'm not a professional or anything.>>3140004oh lawd just look at that spud
Do male cats ever fuck neutered females? Or even males? I'm curious.
>>3133585Just let them live together. If they haven't kill each other by now they'll be fine. Cute cats btw
>>3139429You are in a really tough situation. I don;t think you personally can force her, but if you call animal control and rescue, they almost certainly can. The thing is, if they get involved, it might come with some criminal penalties as well. It's also likely they might take all her cats and try to bar her from owning them again. To me it would depend how bad the situation was, but you may be forced to have a fit right back at her. Someone else may force the issue if they see how she is living, and if she has not been in great health, that could be a paramedic. In my mind, she's better off being reasonable now even if it is sad for her than to be forced to give them all up later.

I like the idea of having a cat mother some kittens but from what I see this is generally frowned upon, is it that bad to have a pregnant cat? I understand that overpopulation is a reason why it's bad but if you can give the kittens away to people who'd want cats anyway I also don't really see that as being a huge issue Also, does the mothering household ever keep 1-2 of the kittens or are they generally all given away? I'm guessing mothers don't care about having them taken away but I feel like it could be nice to at least keep one of themI don't own a cat and if I ever do it won't be for years so just asking so I'm not a complete retard for if/when I do get one
>>3133314Anything that's not an actual name is gender neutral in english, so go to town
>>3136183Both look innocent, you should let them go
>>3140680The “issue” is that if those people want kittens there are already so many. That being said if you want to be overlord to a queen and her brood don’t let others dissuade you as long as you’re going to be responsible for mama and her babies and not throw them outside if its not what you want. I would recommend looking into fostering first since there are so many kitties out there

How do I make my two cats and an indoor dog accept an old stray cat that currently lives outside? He's quite friendly but I'm not sure if he will survive the winter outside
>>3139039>>3138977not that anon, but i had no idea about socialization early on. I got my cat as a stray, I really have no idea how old she was at first but she was a kitten. She's also very small so she could have been left by her mother. Anyway she acts very excitably and likes to play by running up at me and puffing up. I think she also doesn't know/think she's a cat. She is super chatty and talks to my flatmate and gf all the time (sometimes annoyingly). She's never had any interactions with cats at all, and she's approaching 7yrs old.
>>3139456I always recommend getting an adult cat first. A kitten is a huge commitment 10+ years of taking care of it, plus having to find care when you go on a trip etc. The kitten phase lasts the blink of an eye, so dont let cuteness play a factor at all. Plus you have to teach a kitten everything. You might want to get an adult first and ease into it.
>>3139731I'm probably going to adopt an older cat when mine finally croaks. Mine hates snuggling with me but fawns over my gf. I don't want to get another kitten and risk it being unfriendly like mine is.
Trying to get a cat who wont eat wet food to eat it, but so far its not working. Ive been free feeding dry food and giving wet meals twice a day, but she never eats the wet food anyway (the other cat does). I took away the free feed bowl and replaced it with a bowl where i’ve been adding a little wet food every so often with some dry mixed in and on top, but so far the most shes done is lick the bowl after the other cat ate it. I’ve also tried giving her her own bowl incase shes getting squeezed out for food but still no dice. If she doesn’t eat by tonight i’ll have to give her some of the dry food since I’m not trying to starve her, does anyone have any other suggestions?
>>3141190My cats want fresh wet food. They won't eat anything that's been down for a couple of hours, they're both picky like that. Just make sure you're feeding the picky one fresh wet food and not just expecting her to eat stuff that's been sitting out. Might be that. I had another cat one time that just had zero interest in wet food but I didn't try feeding it to her til later in life. She'd just lick up the gravy and leave the meaty bits.

>>3135940>I'm a big fan of Bombay/Burmese-type-breedsMe too! I actually own a Bombay.
>>3140680The thing is, every kitten created for fun and cuteness in private homes that find a great new owner that wanted one anyway looks like one more kitten will stay at a shelter. If people even give them away unneutered the cycle will repeat endlessly. So expecially in places where there are enough strays that kill shelters are still a thing backyard breeding isn't really what you want if you know animals suffering from this kind of situation.Like the other anon said, if you want one or more cats and are interested in experiencing a cat birth the best thing you can do is become a foster home, if that's an option. That way you'll save a pregnant cat from the stress of the shelter, get connections that'll help you with problems and eventual emergency costs, see the little ones grow up and have the option of keeping one or more of them.

My kitten doesn't shut the fuck up at mealtime. He meows really loudly, and nonstop. How do I make him chill the fuck out, cause it drives me nuts in the morning and our older cat doesn't do this.
>>3133170Is dry food bad for cats then?
>>3142354Bad, no. Worse than wet, yes. Dry food leads to UTI due to a lack of hydration but nutrition wise you can get healthy dry food, and if you can get some extra water in your cat by adding it to their dry food or mixing in some wet that can help
>>3142354Try to get grain free at the least. Dunno what your budget is. Bonus points if manufactured + ingredients entirely in your country.

>>3133170My cat is an glue addict. He bites every tape, attacks and sniffs glue. The issue is that I'm an /ic/ and I got loads of taped stuff. Is masking/painters tape (they yellow one used by people to make straight lines on corners when painting walls) dangerous to cats? How do I make him stop?
My orange cat died 3 days ago.I feel awful :^(
>>3142706I used to have a tortoiseshell who, without any prompting or training, decided one day that me being slightly crouched down was reason enough to jump up from the floor onto my shoulders. She'd do it basically to anyone who presented a shoulder to her from that point on, and stayed there sort of wrapped around the neck like a scarf almost. Was actually pretty comfy during the winter.
I think my cat might be a pantsu fetishist. I was taking a bath and threw my dirty pants on the floor. In comes the cat and starts rubbing his body on them like it's fuking catnip

If it's his maybe just move his plate somewhere else where you don't hear him as much and hope it'll stop as he grows up.>>3142354Bad:Usually low on protein and taurine as well as high on starch/plants. Even the most expensive stuff still reads a little worse than medium quality wet.Feeding dry only might cause them to not get enough fluids if you don't let it soak before feeding or measure their water intake.Great:Can lay out in the open for days and cats will still eat it, so less work with feeding.Produces way less garbage.Expecially the shitty brands are damn cheap.Easily throwable.I wouldn't use it as regular main food if you have the option to feed better wet food but it's perfect as snacks.

>>3142854Kek, truly a scaredy-cat. Good that she's getting over it, mine is afraid of the broom since forever just because it moves but sadly it'll keep moving.
>>3142851My cats love their dry food too much. That said, Buddy is basically Garfield, he never stops eating, and he'll eat anything you put in front of him. Walleye came from the shelter and has never known the hunger that an abandoned cat does.

Cat won't stop biting phone charger cords/general cords. What do?
Bros, my kot has got cistitis. He has trouble pissing for the last 1.5 days. I'm giving him pills as per the vet's prescription, but he's clearly uncomfortable if not in outright pain. There is literally nothing else i can do for him except wait for the meds to start working. I don't want him to die or be in pain, bros
>>3143505Cover it with citrus oil or hot sauce. Let them bite the cable. That way their brain will think wire = taste bad = do not bite.

Cat teaching dog to quit making a mess.https://twitter.com/hiyarihut/status/1173053026853982208
>>3143593You can give him lots and lots of tasty fluids and maybe a hot-water bottle to lay down on. And yeah it feels extremely uncomfortable and pissing hurts like hell, but with antibiotics it should be over soon. Just make sure to continue with the pills according to prescription even if he starts looking a lot better.
>>3143711Uncooked should be fine, cooked bones splinter though. I know dogs can’t deal with chicken bones and maybe cats are the same, so i’d get a second opinion before throwing one of those to them
>>3143711>>3143724Raw chicken bones were never a problem here, the smaller ones even get eaten. Boney meat is good for dental health but I wouldn't feed it without supervision just in case something get's stuck.
I know it depends largely on the cat's temperament, but is it generally fine to get a kitten after having an adult cat for a while? I'm strongly considering getting a cat and while I think kittens are cute I realise it's probably better to get an adult because they can be adopted from shelters easier and aren't as much work and that way I can get more used to having one. I don't mind putting in work for a pet but I think it's probably better to get used to having one around before I get a kitten, which I'd like to do later depending on how the adult cat is going. Will there be any kind of territorial or other issues? I know there are socialisation processes etc which I'm looking into since I'd like them to get along as much as possible
>>3143768>Will there be any kind of territorial or other issues? Depends entirely on the cat. Some don't give a single flying fuck, others sperg out. In my experience male cats are more accepting of kittens, ironically
How does training work for kittens? I'm leaning towards adopting one just because while I'm happy to get an adult cat I feel like if it's possible to mold a kitten by getting it used to being picked up, being generally friendly/not super shy etc is desirable which are harder to change if an adult cat is like that already I am however not a cat owner (yet) so I could definitely be completely wrong
>>3143814We all want blini
>>3143930>training catskekJust adopt an adult cat that will let you pick it up, purrs, and doesn't struggle to get down. Or do the same thing with a kitten and tolerate all the spergy behavior that comes with a kitten too.
>>3143930Lmao you can't train cats. You want a cuck animal get a doggo
>>3143768The main problem with the setting kitten and adult cat is the difference in energy level. If the adult one is already older it's not unlikely that the constant playful attacks by the kitten will soon annoy it or even scare it as the kitten gets bigger. So you should be ready to play a lot with the kitten if it turns out your adult cat can't keep up with it.>>3143930You can bring cats to follow some house rules while you're around but I wouldn't call this thraining and it works better with adult cats. You absolutely should get a kitten used to getting picked up, getting it's paws touched, getting in its transport box, eating different brands and types of food, meeting new people, sharing the room with weird things like vacuum cleaners and so on. You also need to offer it huge amounts of playtime or a playmate and it or they might fuck up your room like a group of toddlers.I doubt active 'molding' a cats character is a thing but if it turns out to dislike being picked up you can bring it to accept it for a while anyway. Or if it would absolutely love being picked up and carried around you can make it fear it by handling it wrong, this kind of thing works both ways- It also still works with adult cats if you have more patience. If a certain character is important to you an adult cat is a better choice, expecially from sources that can tell you a lot about your future pet.
What emotion does this face convey?
>>3144299Smugness, with a hint of disdain.
My cat won't stop peeing on my couch suddenly.
>>3142706I knew pretty much nothing about cats and my first one was a tortie. She's nutty, but she cute. She's always meowing and adds some version of a meow to most actions she does. Jump onto something? Meow. Jump off? Meow. I get up? Meow. I open a door? Meow. She'll slap a toy, make all sorts of crazy meows, run into my room, and then bury her head into something. She'll also set up scenarios for herself. She hits that ball in a circle thing, runs out of the room, gets into pounce position, and the runs back in to pounce on the ball. Now if only she'd let me clip her daggers.
I just spent a good 30 minutes looking for my cat in my apartment. Checked all her usual hiding spots and even the cupboards and inside my mattress. Finally found her inside my clothing cupboard that was 75% open but she hid in the very back and dark corner.Whats the longest you have lost your cat inside your home?
>>3144632About 30 mins as well, she got in a dresser drawer that was open a bit then crawled down to a lower drawer
>>3144602Does she still pee in the box too? Can an UTI be ruled out? Better cover the couch with foil asap, things like that can hardly be cleaned in a way to not smell, at least for cats.
Hoping to get 2 kittens or adults soon. I've read about getting cats used to each other (having them eat on opposite doors, keeping in the same room etc) but what about when they're both new to the house? I could probably keep them in separate private rooms and then slowly let them explore the rest of the house then start doing the whole introduction to each other stuff, but if it's feasible to just leave them in the same room I'd rather do that. Also, how long is a good period to keep them isolated? From what I hear it's best to keep them in one room and just spend some time doing your own thing in it to get them used to you. What's a good point at which to let them explore the rest of the house fully?
>>3144744It seemed like she was peeing in the litter box too but for the last few days I don't think she has. She peed on a dog bed as well. I put her in a bathroom and she even peed on her own bed in there rather than the litter box. I don't think it's a UTI, she had one in the past but when she would pee on stuff it was small amounts of pee whereas now its normal amounts of pee just not in the box. I did have foil on the couch and she found a small spot that wasn't covered to pee on yesterday before I put her in the bathroom
>>3144883I dont think its much of an issue if none of the cats/kittens feel very territorial to begin with.Last month I had to introduce an 11 weeks old kitten to my very territorial 8 year old cat (black one in picture) after his brother died. It took about 2-3 weeks (the first week I kept the kitten in a separate room, after a couple of days I let him explore the rest of the house while my old cat was outside) before my old cat could stand to be in the same room as the kitten. He would get super aggressive hissing and crying, while all the little kitten wanted to do was play with him. When trying to introduce them to each other (I did this every day after about a week, when my cat came inside to eat) I always made sure to be in between them, able to grab either of them if my old cat tried to jump him. I think just hearing the hissing and crying taught the kitten some respect, he started keeping his distance, but at the same time I tried to make the old cat understand that attacking the kitten wasnt OK.I looked up the same info as it sounds like you did, but only because I was pretty sure my cat would murder the kitten if they didnt get introduced properly. If both the cats are kittens, I wouldnt worry too much. See how they get along at first, if they fight, then give them their separate spaces. Also worth noting is a lot of shelters will offer a pair of cats together if theyve shown to get along really well or from the same litter.
I moved into my own apartment for the first time in my life about 6 months ago, so I'm looking to find a cat. Any advice for a first-time owner?
>>3144936It doesn’t matter where you put things, the cat will be able to find them
>>3144896If she's even peeing on her own bed something is probably wrong, worth getting it checked out anon
Since /fit/ couldn't help me I will try here:I am a coomer who has a thinning hairline, but prefer to have my hair where it is. Out of all three options that actually work against male hereditary balding, and doesn't have scary side effects for humans, is Minoxidil. However the compound is known to be toxic to cats in small doses, and there are multiple cases recorder where cat owners have sprayed Minoxidil directly to their cats, resulting to a trip to the vet or worse. There isn't any info on how big dosage of this compound is dangerous to cats. Minoxidil is used as a lotion either as a cream or a liquid which is applied to the area of treatment (reclining hairline). Cream version absorbs through skin better and as such doesn't leave as much Minoxidil traces on treatment area. If there is any vet or pharmabro here who would know if this thing would accumulate in a felyne system I would much appreciate the info.https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/4201Here is one reliable source for some starter info. Minoxidil is somewhat water soluble and soluble to organic solvents. The Reason why cats can't handle with the compound because they don't have any enzyme that could convert into a less toxic form, unlike humans and apparently most rodents do.
>>3144966Well she hasn't really used it for a few months since now she just sleeps in her cat tower
>Can't won't let me trim her claws>Google tips>Almost all of them say DUDE JUST GIVE THEM TREATS LMAO>My cat doesn't care about treats at all and doesn't like to be picked up in generalFug
My cat is fat

Has any one had any experience with introducing adult cats to a dog?I have 3 cats and a family member of mine has passed away and I'm wondering if there's any possibility of 3 cats being able to live with a dog. The dog doesn't chase cats and is very obedient.
>>3145080Aww what a bubba! What's their name?
>>3145092because they have minoxidil threads daily
>>3136183I had to order backup cords for mine since mine would chew em now and then. Thankfully she don't anymore - sleeps on the desk a lot (is right now) and doesn't bother em.>>3139009Pure white cats are always so pretty. Pure black cats too. Also tortoiseshell like mine. So pretty much any cats except the ones with fucked up flat faces. I pity them, but it's not their fault so I don't dislike em.
>>3145049Wrap her in a warm towel so only one paw at a time is out
>>3145095You can, it will take a few weeks though for them to be at ease. Try giving them each a different space in the house for the first while, like cats upstairs dog downstairs and do short meetings between them
Is pate-type wet cat food supposed to have harder bits here and there? I've recently noticed some tougher, dark bits in the pate and I'm starting to worry whether the food is bad or something.
>>3145350Thats normal, its usually a concentrated clump of some form of animal by product
>>3145356That's reassuring to hear. My big fear was that it was mold or spoiled food that'd get them sick.
are yearly shots actually worth it or just a way for the vet to milk shekels?Cat is inside and never has never gone out in his life.
My cat has started attacking my legs after I pick him up and flip him over to carry him like a baby. How can I stop this?
>>3145491Most vaccines work way longer than just a year, it's only that just a few producer tested for the actual duration of the protection. There are vaccine brands that recommend every three years instead but you can generally handle it like you want. It's only rabies that has to be yearly but that's for outdoor cats.>>3145509After you set him down again? If it's playful attacking (most likely): Play more with himIf it's stressed out agressive attacking: Pay attention to his body language if he actually wants to be picked up.
>>3145491There’s a very small chance your cat could get rabies or something else from you or rodents in your house, but overall, they’re not super important for indoor cats
I've had this little one since she was a kitten, generally she's really quite small. It's been about four years now, and she's never been a playful type, never hunted or brought me anything, though very curious and inquisitive. I might have had a hand in it, but I've always handled her a lot and been very affectionate, she's always sitting with me or on my lap, always wants cuddles, she'll come running distinctly when I call her name, not any other, and not when I make the "tsk tsk tsk" noise either. Here she is.
Hey, guys. I saved a kitten from being a raccoons victim. He looks like he's 6 weeks old. It wasn't until I have him a bath that I noticed that it was missing is left hind foot. Seems like an old wound, and the kitty moves around fine without it, but there's exposed bone, right below the knee. Is surgery gonna be necessary?
>>3147030>exposed bone>Is surgery gonna be necessary? This has got to be a troll.
>>3147042Not a troll, an idiot. I've never had a pet before, and was thinking of surrendering him to the animal shelter, but he's grown on me. I'm am honest in my stupidity, and just want what's best for the kitten.
Family cat might not have long to live. Feels bad.
>>3147048Just call a couple of vets, give them your story, and it's fairly likely one of them will do it for free or direct you to some group where you could get it funded.
