Take the cat pill
>>
This is Una (little one) and Barley (big). I got Barley a few months ago and not long after he sat in a windowsill meowing. Wife and I go outside and he’s meowing at a stray kitten only about 3 weeks old. We opened the door and the kitten walked right in and we named her Una.
We socialized them properly and they were fast friends. Barley became her surrogate mother, cleaning her butt and stuff and Una began to suckle off him. Vet said it’s just a comfort thing for her and he’s nice enough to let her do it. She’s older now, over 4 months, and she’s still suckling from him even though she eats her wet and dry food easily. I’d let it continue but Barley is getting hurt by it. He’s starting to bleed and one of his nips has turned all scabby and dark. He’s a sweet little gay boy so he doesn’t just walk away or get her to fuck off, and I’m worried about his health.

TL;DR: how do I get my kitten to stop nursing from my male cat who’s starting to get hurt by it?

Hello Jadwiga you have very nice fur please do not attack

Cat had ear mites, I think we caught the infection early because there wasn't that much shit in her. I'm wondering if ear mites are like fleas? I mean like do I have to vacuum constantly and deep clean everyday?
>>
>>3117901
Put a shirt on Barley, separate cats when you're not able to directly monitor them, redirect Una's behavior to a pillow or stuffed animal when you see her trying to suckle.

And some general found kitten advice: make sure you keep both cats UTD on their vax, be sure to test that Una is FIV/FeLV neg, and you should also do a fecal parasite test for Una since she was outside and could have picked up a parasite that can be transmitted to Barley and even to you
>>
>>3118750
what did your vet say?
>>
>>3118811
we didn't take her to the vet. She was constantly scratching her ear so we figured it was ear mites. There was also some black gunk in her ear.
>>
>>3118822
go to the vet, there could be a number of causes for what you're describing and all require different types of treatment. Best to nip this in the bud earlier rather than wait

Had to have my cat put to sleep yesterday thanks to kidney failure. He was 18 years old and I knew it was coming, and I'm glad could give him a relatively painless death and be with him while he went but it hurts so bad bros.

Don't think so, she's been hanging around my apartment complex for over a year. She's not chipped or spayed and she's been getting really skinny recently. She might've been someone's outdoor cat or a stray, and whoever was taking care of her moved away? Not sure.

Spayed
Vaccinated back in 2015

Refill her food bowl once a day (freefeed)

Her nails become overgrown very easily, have to go to groomer every month & a half

It's very serious and very real. Why do you have to outright discard it? It's not a myth or a schizoid rant. I'm genuinely curious. Have you ever thought that you behaviour could be affected? Have weird compulsions or desires that you might not have had in a different situation?
Parasite can alter behaviours of their hosts. Like the grasshopper worm, the ant fungi and others. We are not superior or immune in that regard.

>Latent toxoplasmosis is a very common chronic parasitic infection that is caused by the protozoan parasite Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii) and has an estimated prevalence of 30–70% among human populations worldwide. While most latently infected individuals have traditionally been considered to be clinically asymptomatic, there is now mounting evidence that latent infection causes several behavioral changes even in immunocompetent individuals.

How old? My cat was scared as shit when I got him as a tiny kitten and hid under our couch all day. I just kept trying to give him food every few hours and eventually he'd eat. Wet food is most enticing, just put it in the fridge if he doesn't eat it and try again later. He'll warm up to toys within the next few days. Make sure to "show" him how to play if he's that young. I'd only be worried if this continues for a couple days because kittens need lots of food.
I can't really comment on the whole room thing because I just set up shop for him in the living room since my house isn't hectic at all, but I'd give him space to explore with and without you there, like if he's scared of you just sit off to the sidelines and observe. Make sure not to lock him up in one room for too long unless he's really young. I just kept dangerous rooms (like bathrooms and laundry rooms) shut when he was small.
>>
>>3121816
he's three months old at this point, so yea, really young. I'm not expecting him to love me instantly but I guess I just want to make sure he feels safe and not famishing himself, and I'm concerned about him not leaving the litter box cause he slept in his litter box at the shelter too the bother times I saw him.

Not the same cat.
Besides it's a VETERINARIAN.
You think it's going to sabotage the chance of the cat being taken into a loving home?
Of course not!
>>
>>3122400
The story was this:

Mother's cat Sam went missing three weeks ago. Had collar/tags (in the city). Around three weeks a woman saw this cat wash up in the wash after a monsoon about a city block away from where Sam usually liked to go for food. This was also about same time Sam disappeared. After a while this cat started to come to this woman daily for food, and eventually she posted a picture of him online and my mother went and picked him up. This cat didn't have Sam's collar (which had my mother's number). But looked like him, acted like him, lost in the same area where Sam would've got lost in. Mother instantly knew it was Sam, father did too.

>>3122411
>You think it's going to sabotage the chance of the cat being taken into a loving home?

maybe man but that picture of him standing straight has him looking up more with his ears back. He was pretty young in that one, and didn't have a collar on yet. The right has a tight collar on him now with lot of loose skin.

Either way I'm stuck with the cat now. I convinced her to give me him after he came back this time. There were a few scares before of him crossing the busy streets (he kept doing this). So I got her to give him up to me after he came back in this state.
>>
>>3121818
>>3121788
First night, he didn't sleep in his litter box, but he shit in his bed. He's terrified of my girlfriend and I, so we can't pick him up and put him in the litter box because he keeps running away.

(Also it's 2am and he's meowing)

I didn't expect him to instantly love us but he seems especially scared and I'm nervous about what to do
>>
>>3122426

Picked up a lost teenage male neutered kitten. Introduced him to my adult male neutered cat. Cat seems to be cool with kitten, and kitten seems to be cool with cat. My question is, how do I tell if they're play fighting or being aggressive towards each other? They mostly play during the night when I sleep, I hear them running around but no hissing or growling. During the day the kitten usually jumps out of an ambush, meowring, towards the cat. The cat usually looks mildly uncomfortable with that, and rarely reciprocates/ambushes the kitten.

we dont have fleas in the house or anything, but does anyone know how long CSD lasts in cats? i dont know if the one that nicked my arms had it before, and i can't find a clear answer on if its something they always have dormant within them for their lifespan.

the new cat doesn't have the slight black tips of the ears, the fur is slightly lighter, the tip o the tail is not black like the old cat, his nose is lighter, his eyes are more almond shaped. maybe a sibling? Maybe this one came from the underneath or bizzaro world

vets do not keep such detailed records of your cat, all they're going to have is "DSH Neutered Male Tabby", which there are 1,000s.

I recommend you sprinkle a circle of salt around him or call a shinto priest

I'm just going to assume it's Sam and try and rehabilitate him for now. His base color on his fur is white, so it's possible some of it was torn off. I noticed he has a habit of biting his back feet now.

He's really defensive, pretends to be sleeping or playing when really he's scared and will attack if you try and pet him.

>>3123698
For what it's worth the black tip of Sam's ears went away after he was neutered. Both of them have black tipped tails, just hard to see in one of the pictures. And the fur is roughly the same color, just different lighting. Here is one with the 'stray' outside.

Could be Sam's spawn. Sam was neutered late and was a pretty sexual cat. My mother woke up to him raping her arms/ears.

Got a new kitty, can’t be more than 5 weeks old. I’ll spare details except for that this is her third home.
She took a likening to me very quickly and even though it’s the day after I got her, her face lights up and she starts purring loudly when she sees me and brushes up on me.
This is all fine and dandy, except she wants me to be there with her every single time she wants to play. She’ll claw at the barrier I have set up outside the bathroom and meow loudly until I come over to play with her.
I know this needs to end eventually so she can get a sleep schedule that matches mine but my heart breaks every time I hear her crying for me from the bathroom. She’ll go on for minutes, just meowing until I get there.
Is there any way I can signal to her that play times over that isn’t just ignoring her until she gives up?

I have a question that google hasn't been able to give me an answer to. Help me out cat bros.

Does nursing affect the size of a cat? My cat is really small and she didn't get a lot of nursing because she was dropped on our door step at an early age and my parents had no idea how to raise a kitten.
>>
>>3123713
Working on it! She was a skinny little stray and I've only had her a week. She loves to wake me up early to feed her though, so we're making progress!

In about a year most likely, sometimes two.
>Is there any way I can signal to her that play times over that isn’t just ignoring her until she gives up?
Both isn't good with kittens, playtime and social contact is a basic need of young cats after all. 5 weeks is a fucking baby that should at least spend two more months with a cat mom and some kitten siblings to not grow up with behaviour issues.

So if you really mean weeks not months the best option would be to call rescues, shelters and vets if they know a cat that has kittens and could foster it. Otherwise you should at least adopt a second one that spend at least 4 months in a cat family.
>>
>>3122425
Get Sam2 a chip or tattoo to prevent those kind of issues in the future. Also I'd be kind of funny if original Sam got adopted by Sam2's old owners.

>>3122871
>but no hissing or growling
It's playfighting, with two males it can look a little brutal sometimes. I'd offer the young one a little extra playtime as long as he tends to annoy the older one, kittens just need to play more. It'll most likely get better once the little one is a little older.

Just adopted a 14 week old

He's super friendly in his bed, but skittish out of his bed, which is fine. But the two times he's gone to the bathroom, he's *only* gone in his bed, and not the litter box.

My girlfriend wants to take the bed away and put the litter box where the bed was, but I feel bad about taking away the one thing that's making him comfortable and social right now.

TL;DR how do I make our cat shit in his litter box and not the bed?
>>
>>3124440
And yes, we've placed him in the litter box and used his paws to show him how to scoop it. A few times, in fact.
>>
I live alone in a 800 sq ft apartment
I'm gone 8a to 530p

I want to get to cats, younger but since I wont be around I might as well get older ones.

I want to get a british shorthair because they look hilarious and seem to be good apartment cats. How do you buy cats? I just see adoption centers nearby - and a breeder that charges 2k a cat.

What are your thoughts on feral cat shelters? Boxes made with insulation providing warmth and protection for neighborhood strays/feral cats.

Usually no, it's just a lot of stress for cat and owner and unhealthy for the skin. Only sphinx need it as far as I know.
If they get dirty with something dangerous or can't clean themselves properly damp clothes or cutting out the dirty pieces of fur is enough in most cases. If they stink try better food.

>>3124440
>>3124441
At 14 weeks he should know how to use a litterbox by himself, I'd stop this 'using his paws' method if it makes him uncomfortable in any way to make sure he'll soon feel safe in the litterbox, too. Maybe offer a hooded one too, skittish ones maybe prefer those.
Just place a litterbox right next to his bed, kittens sometimes realize to late they have to use the toilet, expecially right after waking up. Also he might simply be scared to go alone if it's usually far away. Also don't forget proper cleaning of the bed, otherwise it could stay marked as a toilet.

Most things in our modern age are bad for the environment, but there are many things you can do to mitigate the environmental impact of owning a cat
>>
>use wet food

why?
>>
>>3125491
Makes them feel fuller with less calories. Also cats don’t like drinking water naturally, so many cats get a lot of their water from food
>>
how do I stop my cat from bringing dead birds home?

>>3123701
don't you have any familiarity with your cat? what about any specks on the eyes, moles in the ears, toe bean coloring, any weird nipple configurations? what about his meow? what about his behavior? his favorite things? his smell? did he seem to know where things were when he first came back? why are you such a stranger to your own cat?
>>
>>3123885
malnutrition could lead to stunted growth in general, so yeah, but you can't know for sure, if she was a sickly runt she could have just ended up small, could be genetic, so long as she's healthy, and congrats on having a cat that actually will fit in most cat trees and cat furniture. My last boy was way too large and it was near impossible to find shit for him
>>
>>3125491
dry food is bad for them, leads to kidney issues, the nutritional balance is out of wack and can also lead to diabetes (too many carbs)
>>
>>3124692
straw is good as it insulates, breaths, is resistant to mold, and cats like it for some crazy reason (my cat has access to the softest blankets and all the furniture but likes straw too)
>>
>>3124487
the adoption centers pretty much, I don't know why you'd be against that, they'll come fixed and vaccinated. Take your time and visit often to get a feel for the cats there, you may have to wait a bit for the right match but they often get a variety of cats (unlike with dogs where without some effort they'd all be pitbulls). Without even trying my shelter has ended up with several varieties of siamese, himalayan, nebelung, russian blue, orientals, silver mackerel tabby, main coon mixes, big cats small cats, belly giving cats, hugging cats, licking cats, cats of all different coats and personalities, cats that are old and playful, cats that are young and cuddly, cats that like dogs, cats that'd beat up dogs, cats that come in pairs, cats that walk on leashes, cats that meow back and forth with people, cats that are completely quiet

beyond visiting often and taking your time I also recommend using a bit of rudimentary cat language: when meeting them let them sniff your hand and see how they react before petting them, if they flinch or recoil don't pet them, otherwise you're pretty much ok and the cat will be impressed and more relaxed when meeting you during hectic public hours.
>>

>>3125491
>cheaper, more common and comes in more variations than high quality dry food
>the better brands have better ingredients and more protein even compared to high quality dry
>you don't have to soak the dry food or worry about the fluid intake
>fills them up more and seems to be tasty
>you can use good dry food as very cheap snacks
As long as you aren't a poorfag that has to feed the cheapest food he can get, why dry?
>>
>>3124487
>How do you buy cats?
Good breeders, adoption centers, rescues or private rehoming. British shorthairs aren't uncommon so if you're patient you'll find a good one for cheap. You can also ask breeders for older ones that aren't used for breed

also, I understand the love for gray bois. my last cat was a gray boy, and he was an older cat found dumped outside the high kill shelter in flint michigan in the worst year of the recession. He had bad teeth, bad skin, broken whiskers, and he smelled like shit because he literally shit himself in the carrier being left there on that cold feburary day for god knows how long.

i let him sleep with me in my bed that night and he loved me so god damned much. he slept with me every night, he would seek me out for comfort, asking to be held (especially on the left shoulder). he would chase whatever I threw for him to chase (apple toss, fuzzy toss, etc...), he didn't like catnip too much, he'd go crazy over "stick plants' (I still don't know what these species of grass seed stalks are called, only found in michigan in parts). I would walk him every day (without a leash), we would meow back and forth so I'd always know where he was, if he got lost I just needed to whistle for him and he'd know where home was. He went with me from flint mi, to the country, to chicago, back to michigan, got sick and old, finally gave up the ghost...

what I 'm trying to say is that sometimes the unplanned/random cat is best
I wasn't even looking to adopt a cat that day, but nobody wanted this literal golden goose of a cat

is there a dry cat food for a 13 year old cat who doesn't like eating dry cat food? I've tried a few brands and she just doesn't like eating dry cat food anymore. We have two cats, the other cat still likes dry cat food, so it's always out there for my picky cat, but she won't touch it. I've been exclusively feeding her wet cat food and she loves it, she goes bonkers in excitement when she hears me peeling the can open.

Do female cats really incite males to come and fuck them even if they're always indoors if they're not spayed? If they are does this still happen e.g to a lesser extent or not at all? My country and especially my location has almost no strays or at least none that I've seen if that makes a difference.
Asking out of curiosity, I don't own a cat but would spay them if I did.
>>
>>3127408
Yeah in my old place mine would vocalise all the time indoors and at some point a tomcat even came through the window looking for her

They call for them and I guess males can also smell it. If you do have strays you'll notice with a young unneutered female at home, they'll spray all around the house.

Depending on the main problem, if it's only warmth and fluids she needs you can maybe do it at home, ask the vet to show you how. Lots of tuna water might also do the trick after the worst dehydration passed.

I want to switch my cat to an all wet food diet, but I'm honestly a bit of a brainlet and a bit confused with calorie count, especially taking different brands and different can sizes into account.

This was the most straightforward chart I could find, and coupled with catfooddb, I think I have some kind of understanding. My cat's a bit overweight, which is one reason I want to switch him to a more closely counted and healthier wet food diet. Does this look right to people? I don't want to still be overfeeding him. Or worse - underfeeding him.

Hi, my dad kinda got fed up with my mum cats and he is planning to give them away/throwing them out, main excuses are that mum never managed to get train them to use the litter box or use a scratch pole, so they shit and pee all over the place and ruin every piece of furniture they find, specially one of them that likes peeing the food and water bowls of the other cats and even likes peeing around the litter box instead of inside it, even if it's clean.
I tried buying multiple litter boxes and scratch poles but they ignore them it's like old habits die hard. I have tried things I read online but so far I've been unsuccessful, moreover I guess the fact that this cats apparently hate each other makes everything more difficult.
Does anyone here have experiences like this of adjusting the behavior of old cats?

It’s pretty unlikely to have siblings breed since the procedure can be done often before cats realize they are experiencing a need to breed. You just need to monitor the male in particular, since females are only really interested when in heat. As for Male/Male or female/female, either one is fine but two males may give fewer problems since they lose a lot of their behaviour issues with a loss of sex drive, whereas females don’t have too much of a hormonal change post surgery

you're not using grain free food by chance or some specialty brand? watch out for pea fiber/pea protine, not right for cats, had a neighbor's cat that never had solid shits on that
>>
>>3129350
No, the food they eat uses barley as a filler, no pea products. Maybe she ate something on the floor that didnt sit right so she had to pass it. She seems fine right now
>>
>>3129344
I don't think I've ever noticed that. So that's not just marketing talk and I can use that as an actual guideline? Following that little chart and catfooddb, it looks like the cans I got do give the right number, assuming my math is right of course.
>>
>>3129514
I assume it's some kind of regulation, since it's on all the cans of every brand I've picked up so far. I think you can trust it!

I am having a bit of a panic attack right at the moment.

My cat got into a treat with some chocolate frosting. I don't THINK she had more than a tiny amount if any at all, but I don't know that for sure. Now I'm freaking out about if she had enough chocolate to be toxic. The problem is that right now I just had a huge financial expenditure and cannot, literally cannot, afford an e-vet trip. So I think my only real option here is 'pray that she didn't have too much'.
>>
>>3129725
Good luck
a tiny amounts shouldn't kill her though

A couple of weeks ago i had to bring my cat into the vet with a urinary tract problem and he got better but the vet said i would need to get him on the expensive ass prescription diet food. Like the mega jew I am, i fed him all the samples they gave me and I figured he was fine after that. He started peeing blood earlier today and I'm freaking the fuck out because I'm poor as fuck.
I did some reading and I saw that urinary tract food helps break down the crystals that form, is there any truth to that? I have a few pills that help him relax his bladder left over and I think I can get some more at the vet if I run out. Do you guys think I could get away with starting him back on the prescription diet and giving him the pills or should I just goy up and bring him back to the vet?
>>
>>3129984
You could try giving him apple cider vinegar. It's cheap and apparently effective at curing/preventing urinary issues.
>>
>>3128892
>never managed to get train them to use the litter box or use a scratch pole
Cat's don't need to be trained to do that, if they didn't use the original boxes/poles those were shit or in the wrong places.
Make sure the litter boxes are as many as number of cats + 1, all in different rooms or at least at opposite corners, have high enough litter filling to dig around in and that pee won't come into contact with the box, maybe try different litter, too. For scratching there should be posts that don't wiggle, mats on the floor and mats on walls/corners, best placed exactly in places / on furniture they use for scratching.
However If they hate each other marking and stress could be the main issue. Are they at least neutered?

Sounds like finding a new home for them, or at least all but two if there's a pair that seems to get along wouldn't be a bad idea to be honest.

>>3129193
If you spa them early on fucking won't be an issue, the only argument against mixed pairs is that they'll likely end up developing different play behaviours which can lead to them not getting along. But with kittens you never really know what characters you'll get. Males tend to prefer playing fight and play more roughly.
No matter the sex, the first year or so they'll be very active and as long as they get along and play with each other they should'nt get agressive. After that it depends on their character, If you buy breeds you can choose higher chances of active cats or calm cats.
>>
>>3129299
It's not unusual in kittens, a change in diet, some other stuff she ate or a harmless bug will cause that. As long as she behaves normally and is active just make sure she stays well hydrated and keep an eye on her weight.
If she starts to seem unusually tired or gains less weight prepare for a vet visit with a fresh shit sample.

>>3129984
No idea, what's special about the special food?
But if there aren't already build up crystals that need resolving and it was just an infection a lot of fluids and the right acidity should be enough. In that case I'd better invest the money in good meat-only wet food.
If the infection is back I'd also take the cat to a vet and get a proper antibiotics prescription, at least in humans UTIs can come back easily without those.
>>
How do feral cats and small wildcats deal with rain in cold environments? Do they just find shelter or die? Even breeds/species with lots of guard hairs still don't seem to deal with rain very well.
>>
>>3129725
if it was milk chocolate it's probably ok, barely any real chocolate in milk chocolate

My 15 week old kitten keeps running away from my girlfriend and I. We've had him for a week, and while he's become super affectionate to our 4 year old cat, he scurried away from us whenever we approach him.

Sometimes he does let us scratch his cheek or chin, and we can coax him into playing with toys, but any other time he runs away when we go near him.

desu I'm a little jealous that he seems to like the cat more than me because the cat is completely indifferent to him right now but mostly I want the little guy to stop running and hiding when we're not even chasing him.
>>
>>3130819
Just wait you pussy give it time
>>
>>3130819
Most kittens don’t want to be pet or held while they are awake, its an instinct to keep them alive by hiding and spending waking hours learning to hunt. Appreciate the play time and get affection in when its too tired to resist
>>
>>3129984
It's the truth, my cat had this and nearly died. You should take it to the vet because when there are too much crystalls the diet is not useful (my cat had to be sedated and his bladder had to be manually emptied) . After the vet checks him you need to start buying him special food and filtered water, also maybe a fountain of water to stimulate water consumption.
>>
>>3130617
Is he eating?

>>3130819
It's been only a week, give him time. He still has to get used to his new home and humans.
I'd just stop approaching him and let him choose when to make contact, that's way less scary. That he loves your cat is a big plus, just cuddle and play with her a lot, the little one will trust her judgement and follow her actions sooner or later.
>>
I rescued a cat from the streets and had a severe bladder problem product of an older traumatism (probably a car impact), the vets are checking if she can regain control of her bladder and if she can't she has to be put to sleep. I only have her from one week and I'm devastated. Need some support cat bros.

I love this kitten so much. Never had I owned such a well behaved cat. Doesn't use his claws when playing with me or fuck with wires, always wants to cuddle with me and sleeps at my feet or on my chest. We really bonded when he was super sick I think, almost died but I got him to the vet and he barely made it through and I was always at his side when he was recovering. Its like he understands I saved his life and is eternally grateful. He also gets along well with my other cat and my other cat doesn't mind him at all. Its really cute to see them play together.
>>
>>3130798
Go slower. Does she even like the harness yet? Just give it time and a lot of snacks and praise whenever you put the thing on or off.
>>
>>3130819
did you prepare literally at all in how to deal with cats? cats are prey items in the wild, and they're very aware of it. a lot of cats will feel threatened by attention from people they aren't familiar with. direct eye contact is one of the most threatening things short of an approach, because in the wild, that's a surefire way to know you have a predator's attention. the best way to make friends with a cat is to completely ignore it. chasing a cat you aren't already friends with is a great way to set that process back. seriously, just fucking ignore him. sit in the same room as him and read a book or something -- no expectations. the cat will eventually become curious and come up to you. nothing will be on your terms, it will all be on his. it's just whether or not you recognize that.
>>
>>3130873
Thanks. I'm at work and can't concentrate at all. Just feeling sad right now, depressing thoughts . Also she's really cute.
>>
hey /kot/, should I be concerned if my cat might've swallowed some dried straw? My sister says she's seen the cat attempt to upchuck during dinner. The cat is still eating normally but my sister wonders if we should get some sort of hairball medicine or visit the vet.
>>
>>3130864
Dude. Don't walk her if she clearly doesn't want to be walked. Not all cats are like the ones you see in the youtube videos strolling effortlessly with their humans
>>
>>3130798
what is wrong with you?
>>
>>3130979
yeah seconded
and you clearly don't have the patience or understanding of your cat to do this anyway
I literally foster failed my cat because he was able to be walked in a harness. I like to train fosters for harness walking but I have one now who doesn't like it, can't keep standing in a harness anyway, and doesn't even want to be outside, so I don't make her. She's going to be a great indoor only cat, why can't you just love the one you're with?
>>
>>3130864
>>3131032
and one more thing, that harness is terrible for cats. Cats can get out of any and all harnesses anyway, but that style is one of the worst, as it has such a large neck hole.

most harnesses are made for dogs, where the shoulders are wide enough compared to the ribcage behind the arms so that you can expect to use that to hold them, but cats shoulder's are more narrow than their rib cage and they can literally just slip backwards out of anything

the leash and harness are just communication tools and stop gaps so you can grab your cat in time before it slips out. If you can't walk your cat without a harness you're sure as shit not going to be able to walk them in a harness

>>
>>3131093
it is a good thing in this case as he had medical issues that most adopters aren't equipped to deal with (but I am quite used to), but in the big picture it does worse for the shelter population as a whole to end up keeping fosters. Most people don't have more than once or two spaces in the home for foster cats, and so when a foster is kept, that keeps another cat from getting out of the shelter into a foster home, and another cat from getting into the shelter in the first place

There are a lots of variables, the vet told me the worst case scenario. Today she's going to see a specialist in neurology to see if she can regain control via surgery or exercises, if she can't we will take care of her and try to empty her bladder with massages every time we can (they told me it should be at least 4 times a day), but if her quality of life isn't good even after that we will have to put her down.
I'm going to try to do the best for her to keep her living (My wallet is almost dry right now by expensive vets). I have 4 other cats but my house is really big so I'm grateful for that. I can accommodate a room only for her.
Thanks for the support. I don't have many friends so I really needed it
