guys my cat tries to bite the shit out of me when i touch her feet, what should i do?
>>3044808dont touch feet
>>3044808While giving her a treat touch her feet simultaneously.
>>3044808ay, no toucha da feets!
What causes a domestic cat to not eat?
>>3044994Any number of reasons, both medical and behavioral. What's the history on this cat? Was it eating fine previously? What changed in its food, feeding time, environment, etc? How old?
>>3044698How often is it normal for cats to throw up?
Is it normal for a cat to almost always have their nose cold?
>>30450430, normally. But if they have digestion issues or eat too fast or have hairballs, more often than that. I had one that barfed pretty regular til I switched her food to a formula that was supposed to help with hairballs. Worth having a vet's advice on if it's a new issue.>>3045056IIRC that's normal and if it's hot they're running fever.
>>3045021>What's the history on this cat? Was it eating fine previously?Yes she was eating fine when she was a kitten> What changed in its food, feeding time, environmentNothing. Everyting is same>How old?2
>has been working a lot while finding time to take care of grandma who had a stroke >accidentally spoils cat by giving him too much food due to lack of attention/concentration >now he asks to be fed from 10 to 10 minutes and won't settle for small amountsI created a gimme-monster who demands the moon. How do I fix this disaster?
>>3045157you can't fix it. all you can do is run away from the cat
My cat gets in this weird mood sometimes. He'll get up on a table to try and be eye level with me then stare at me, then he'll meow forcefully as if he's demanding something. He'll kind of stomp is foot sometimes too. I can't figure out what he wants when he does this, we've just had playtime, he has food and water available, and his litterbox is clean. During these moods he doesn't really like to be pet either, if I try he'll give another forceful meow and kind of love bite me. When I ignore him he'll keep meowing then bat at me and nibble at me. What gives? Is it due to lack of attention? I work 8hrs a day but I play a bit with him and pet him when I get home, then we're hanging out together for the rest of the day. He sits on my desk while I'm on my pc
>>3045187He want's a head butt.
>>3045187If you stand up and look back at him what does he do?
Vet said my 6 year old little guy may have kidney disease starting already.
my 2yo boy Milkshake and my new little girl Harperi have 2 other very good boys and many photosi love them all
>>3045187Maybe he wants to wrestle.>>3045438That's damn young but cats can live years with it if it's catched early.
>>3045512he's a picky eater and doesn't take pills. I'd have a hell of a time getting him to eat any special food or take medicine. To say nothing of the cost. I can only hope its a kidney infection (diarrhea and being lethargic was why I took him in to the first place) blood work then said that one enzyme is quite high, which indicates either an infection or beginning kidney disease. He's going to recheck the enzyme after a few weeks and two antibiotic injections to make sure the infection, if there is one, is completely gone.
What should i do if my kitten keeps biting me?
Starting to think my cat hates her water dish. She’d rather yank it so the water splashes out and lick it off the floor instead. Do cats really dislike when their whiskers touch the bowl edges? It is a pretty small bowl...
>>3045657Say “ow” and take your hand away or else they won’t learn not to do it
>>3045657get kitten an appropriate toy it can bite the shit out of
my two cats that have always gotten along are now hissing and fighting, how do I fix this?
>>3045437He'll kind of back off if I really make a point of acting confrontational, is he trying to dominate me? Lol I want to assert myself as the dominate party, I don't cater to his every meow so I wouldn't say he's spoiled. >>3045512He does like to wrestle, he grabs my hand and bats and kicks it in his little death roll that he does, that's playful behavior right?
So today I accidently stepped on one of my cats paws and now it seems to be carrying it when it walks around. This is the paw in question. She's currently sleeping and doesn't appear to be meowing in pain
>>3045765is she putting weight on it? If not, vet.
>>3045449Aww Harper's adorable! Do you have anymore pics of her?
>>3045790sometimes she does, but she still tries to carry it. Still jumps around, though she nips if I try touching it
>>3045818vet, it's probably just bruised/swollen but she needs to have it looked at.
>>3045705Re-introduce them, like you would if one of them was a new cat. Feed them with a transparent screen between and site-swap (one goes in the front of house, other goes in back of house, doors between, then swap them every day or so). Try some calming pheramones. Make sure both get plenty of pats and treats. Try and make more vertical space so one or the other will be less perturbed when the other walks in or thru a room.
>>3045946any ideas as to what caused it? Before they weren't the best of friends but they mostly just ignored each other, then one day they're at each other's throats. They weren't even this bad when I first introduced them.
>>3045992One is pro-skub, the other is anti-skub. Many such cases!
My cat's 20 and I don't think she'll live much longer.What should I do?
>>3046042enjoy every moment with her, let her have her favorite things and take tons of pictures.
Today one of my kittens fell in well. It was really sad, he clinged to the pipe as hard as he can but at the end he completly lost his grip. His mother still sniffing around the well looking for her child
>>3046069damn thats a cute nose
>>3046061I'm sorry for the loss anon, can you cover the well so more don't fall in?
>>3046289How are they supposed to drink if I close the well?
>>3046293put out water for them yourself.
>>3045697This, people who complain their cat bites 9/10 times let their kitten nibble and play with their fingers. Cats are not nearly as hard to teach as people say
>>3045449Wanna smack Milkshakes butt
>>3045814heres her snuggling with her little pink pig toy i call Peppa
>>3046400>>3045814tucked her in with a soft washcloth
>>3046419how is it heartless to let them get some fresh air outside in their play pen? they're not in there all day and i don't want them roaming around and possibly getting hurt
This neighborhood demon cat comes to my house and beats up my cat really bad, he's too autistic to fight back, just sits and takes it. I want to trap the motherfucker, maybe kill him. I'll be doing the neighborhood a favor as he has killed many other cats before, including my other cat's kittens. How do I go about it? Lace somewhat with catnip in a cage?
My cat doesn't like hugs and boxes
>>3046400These furry motherfuckers are adorable.
Why doesn't he love me, he's the only cat I've never been able to break into a purring lap cat.
>>3045719>that's playful behavior right?Yeah. Expecially the males seem to love it but even old lady cats what to do it every now and then.Mine initiates it by playfully attacking my ankle and staring at me like "What you're gonna do about it? huh? You'll have to fight me to stop me">>3046061Couldn't you let down a rope so it can cling to it?Sounds damn dangerous for small animals so you might as well just keep one hanging in.>>3046417Give that setting an update.>>3046506Too bad, this looks very hugable.
>>3046552>Too bad, this looks very hugable.haha she can tolerate my hugs for a bit
>>3046552the mesh doesn't seem to go to the top of the tent, couldn't they jump/climb out if they wanted to?
>>3046506They look like a plush toy
how should I teach my kitten to not go on the balcony?I live on the 3rd floor and I'm afraid she might climb up the railing and fall (or jump at a bird)
I adopted an 8 year old overweight cat the other day. shes the sweetest cat I've ever met. think i'll have to wash my sheets every other day due to her hair though
>>3044994Stress, different food, changes in preference, sickness, etc>>3045126Try warming up the food first or a different brand. If your cat doesnt eat at all for 24 hours, you should take them to a vet.
who has smoll kots here? She's full grown but she's about the size of 6-7 month old kitten. she also has a stubby half tail; her mom was tailless and her two littermates both have full tails.
What's a normal price for a cat tooth extraction? I was quoted $640 for what looks to be about an hour long procedure. (45 minutes of anesthesia for $125 and the actual extraction being $66)
>>3046849What the hell, do you live in California?
>>3046855I'd call around to get other vets prices at the very least.
>>3046849I paid $250
>>3046863>>3046862Yeah I checked in with a coworker familiar with animal rescue and they're saying it's not the most unreasonable thing with all the services quoted but to shop around a bit.
>>3045654I managed to get my own pill-hating cat to consume his meds by mashing them into a liquid and using a tiny syringe to spray the medical fluid directly down the gullet. It might not be super perfect or effective or whatever but it put the medicine in his system and he recovered.
I had a dream last night my kot was sick and they had to amputate everything behind the shoulderblades, then after that she was running around happy again.
>>3046835can you post a picture of her next to banana?
>>3046604she's also super soft
>>3046835We call her bonsai cat
>>3046947What's her name?
>>3046950Fiona (little bun)
Bros my cat is a little lethargic, seems to have trouble lifting its hindlegs and I haven't seen him poop in a day or so. Took him to the vet but blood, ultrasound came clean, he said everything seems normal outside some bladder crystals (that he'll take care of tomorrow). Vet did see poop in the cat's intestines too but its butthole seems fine, got its temperature checked there.Could it just be the constipation? Or should I see another vet?
>>3044698My 7 week old kitten has been great in everyway, but she doesn't go to the bathroom soon enough.2 weeks ago she finished taking her intestinal worm and bacteria medicine to fix her diarrhea and leaky ass. She still occasionally has wet poop and it leaks a bit, but she doesn't go to the bathroom when it starts to leak. Im figuring its her stomach getting used to her food. How can i get my dumbass cat to shit sooner since im getting tired of cleaning drops of cat shit? Or am i fucked and need to wait till she gets older and actually cleans and shits properly
>>3047217This is goober
>>3046500Stop letting your cat outside and contributing to the problem.
>>3046994If he's eating and drinking normally, not vomiting, and urinating without issue, I think it'd be okay to give him a day or two to see if he bounces back. You did the right thing bringing him in even if they didn't find anything overtly wrong.
>>3047217is momma around? 7 weeks is too young to be weaned yet.
>>3047441Not an option, he hates it inside. I asked in the wrong place.
>>3047217If his mommy not around you have to teach your kitten to use litterbox.Try to catch when he's shitting on the floor and grab him quickly to the litterbox, make him sit there even if he's done already, but do it right after\in the middle of his defecation.Pick a little bit of shit and take it to the litterbox so he starts to associate the scent
>>3047642Also dig the litter with his paws
>tfw cat eats so fast she throws up
My cat really likes me, but isn't wild about strangers and particularly men. I wish she wasn't so shy, she'd be happier if she was comfortable with more people.
>>3047619Then throw him in nature.
>mfw new kitten keeps playing and rolling around in the litterbox like a goddamn chinchilla taking a dust bathwhy is he like thisI'm spraying him with water when he does it but not when he uses it normally, I hope he gets rid of that habit soon. It makes such a mess.
>>3048036don't spray kitten
>>3048036don't spray cats with water its just going to make them not trust you and develop emotional issuesit makes me really depressed when people do that to their cats and wonder why their cats have issues
>>3047739Pretty much the only people who see her at all are the people at the vet's office.
>>3046835one of the left I believe was the runt of the litter. She's still small compared to her sister, on the right.
>>3048377she was tiny, skinny as a rail when we rescued them a year ago. Happy to say that she's very healthy
At work tonight there was a cat in the parking lot, we were kind of worried about it getting hit by a car so my coworker gave me a carrier and I took it home. I contacted a local radio station to post a picture of the cat online. It’s very friendly and seems to be chilling out in my bathroom, but if the owner doesn’t respond I want to bring him to a local shelter the day after tomorrow.I wasn’t sure how much food to feed him during the day. He ate a can and a half tonight but what should I do tomorrow?
>>3048426It might be a longshot, but try installing the Ring app on your phone and report the cat missing on the neighborhoods section.
>>3048190>>3048295Oh, that's awful. I didn't know. I never did it to my older cat only because I never needed to, but now I feel as if I narrowly missed a bullet. How else can I stop this? He always kicks up a whole beach and damn near bathes in the stuff, I can only take solace in the fact the litter box is always clean when he does it.
>>3048377your cat looks just like one of her littermates and her mother cat as well.
Had this fluffball for 11 years. Was a very chill cat, liked to play a bit and LOVED being brushed.Unfortunately had to put him down due to a tumor.Grew up with him, was my best friend.
>>3048601Got a new catto, and this one oh boy... A complete total opposite. Energetic AF, basically runs arounds the house meowing and hunting down any bug or bird he sees.
my cat has eaten like five flies this week, this won't hurt him will it?
>>3047619>"Not an option">t. Too lazy and irresponsible to acclimate a cat
>>3048623Nah, extra protein
>>3046849I paid nearly a grand for my cat to get all of his teeth pulled out here in California. Price typically depends on how many teeth need to come out and what meds the kitty needs after the operation. Also fuck stomatitis.
>>3048036Never scare them in the litterbox if you want them to use it. It's likely they'll learn to stop using the place all together. Most cat problems like that can be fixed by offering them a better alternative where they can do the thing they shouldn't at others. So I'd get him a box with a sand/earth mix for dust bath fun.
>>3047217>7 week old kitten>2 weeks agoDid she got to be separated from her family at 5 weeks? At that age her caregiver is supposed to still lick her clean and slowly introduce her to the right use of the litterbox. Also of course a toddler still has problems going to the bathroom, put up litterboxes everywhere so she can actually reach one in time wherever she is, expecially after taking a nap, otherwise she might learn shitting on the floor is what cats do.If there is any chance you can get her back to her mom do it until she's at least 12 weeks old. Or get an 12 to 16 week old kitten that had enough time to learn how to cat so it can teach yours.
>>3048623We live near the hospital and when my cat caught a fly and ate it, I was freaking out cause it could be a fly with infection from the hospital, and my bf said I'm an autist and panicking. Cat doesn't give a shit and nothing happened with her.
>>3048449I wound up making a Craigslist ad and printed some posters for the store. I was worried about having the cat at first because he was pacing around but he’s started relaxing again. He seems kind of old, toilet trained enough and doesn’t run when outside. One of my coworkers seems interested in taking him and my parents brought it up, too. Even though we don’t have pets I think they like how well behaved he is.
my cat meows every time I sneeze. I know its a condition response and not her saying bless you, but its still cute.
>>3048601>>3048602F. How long before you got the new cat? When my old one had to be put to sleep, I only lasted a month before I couldn’t stand living in a catless house anymore.
>>3049078Mine too. She does a two-syllable “bless you” meow and I always thank her. It’s only polite.
>>3049100sometimes she'll do a two syllable one, or one long one she holds. She'll also do on it coughs sometimes. She only does it for me though, if anyone else sneezes she just kinda looks at them funny.
>>3049169take that band off kitty right now. That shit isn't funny or cute.
>>3047655Buy a puzzle feeder, they'll force him to slow down. Alternately, put a ping pong ball or other larger (impossible to accidentally to swallow) object in his food dish to force him to eat around it.>>3047739Is she food-motivated?>have friend come over>come in door>drop high-value food item, like turkey lunchmeat or whatever>leave>repeat>repeat again with multiple people>>3048456Yes, never punish kot in box, you are likely to create litterbox aversion. When he starts fussing with the litter, distract him with another toy. He'll probably grow out of it, honestly.>>3048426Standard for an adult cat is 1/4 cup kibble twice daily OR 1 5.5oz can wet food split into two meals.>>3048601F
>>3049100My cat makes 2-syllable 'hi-hi' when I come back home. I thought I'm a crazy cat lady for thinking cats actually have different meows for certain things
>>3047506Cats ween at 5-6 weeks fuck out here>>3047642>>3048763Momma was gone when i found her. She took well to eating hard food and a litter box. The problem isnt her shitting in the box. The problem is that she still has soft stool after being de-wormed and eating the same science diet kitten food for the past three week and a half. She isn't lethargic or sick. She just farts up wet poop and doesn't realize that its poop. Ive brought her to vet to check up on it, and they said her results are fine. Im not overfeeding her either, so I dont wtf is wrong.
>adopt two sister cats from neglect situation>lived 8-9 years in single room with little human interaction, only each other>bring to apartment>both adore me but suddenly fucking hate each other>uh, ok>separate, get pheromone diffuser, site swap>feed on opposite sides of closed door>feed on opposite sides of window screen barrier>nearly 2 weeks later>little to no progressEvery time I think they're taking a step forward and improving, they end up taking two steps backwards right after. Yesterday afternoon was one of the best intros they've ever had. One actually hopped the screen (previously was very reluctant to leave bedroom) and started sniffing around the living room where sister cat was sitting. Sister cat huffed a little but ate treats from me and did nothing. Intro last night feeding them before bed, they're hissing, growling, and swatted the screen, and bedroom cat would not approach the screen at all this morning.I'm at a loss. It's been 80-90F the past few days and the bedroom is fucking broiling because the AC can't cool through a closed door. On Friday I had to call into work because I barely slept an hour or two in the heat. They have one more week of cool weather to work this dumb cat shit out between each other, then if they can't coexist at that point one's gonna have to go. I can't live like this.
my cats are just over a year old and 10.8 and 11.6 pounds, I feed them a quarter of a can of soft food each twice a day and have hard food out all the timeshould I take away the hard food completely? I'm worried about their weight
>>3049199Well, it's easier to overeat on dry than on wet so reversing this feeding order might be helpful. Also having cats keen on dry food is nice since you can make them run a lot by throwing single pieces of kibble.
>>3049183>1/4 cup kibble twice daily OR 1 5.5oz can wet food split into two mealsThis seems so little food
>>3049334how would I reverse it if I just have the hard food out all the time?
>>3049343>>3049199The amount you feed will depend on a number of factors including your cat's build, age, the type of food, and whether or not they're spayed/neutered. Try this:https://petnutritionalliance.org/cat.php
>cat somehow got outside >waited until he came back>he came back acting weird as if he's in pain >took him to the vet>they did all kinds of exams and nothing major showed up >the doctor said he had a trauma and his temperature was low >also that he was feeling pain in the back>come back home>he starts foaming and having spasms >can barely walk and is extremely weak >he's now under the table and doesn't want to eat or drink water>he's just there still and will growl if I try to pick him I'm worried, /an/. I'm taking him back tomorrow to do a blood exam. Any idea what he might have? I feel like I'll die from anxiety if he's not well by tomorrow.
>>3049490definitely something happened to him physically. Seems to me that the vet would have taken x-rays and given him some pain meds at least..
This stray cat came up to my house a few minutes ago. He's already on his way hunting rabbits or whatever.
>>3049199Do they have a tower or toys to chase around? Also you could do this.
>>3044808Touch her feet. Post pics of hands.
>>3049546They did exactly that. They also said he had some kind of trauma. He's still having spasms and foaming. He tried to walk a little and feel. I can't take this. It's too much for my heart.
>>3049584you may have to take him to a 24 hour emergency vet then.
>>3049574What a cutie, go out and give him a kiss on the head for me please
>>3046576it does go to the top of the tent
>>3049585I did just that. He was getting stone cold and had 34°C when I got there. The doctors are taking care of him now. Wish him luck.
fuzzball in the bottom right is the same as above
the largest one
My new kitten started to steal my older cat's favorite sleeping spot. I am inclined to not intervene and let them sort that kind of stuff by themselves (it's not like there aren't enough sleeping spots around my apartment) but my mom says that I should force the new kitten to adopt a new sleeping spot. wat do?
>>3049790The hierarchy is very important but you can try to intervene the other way. Older cat's in stress too and needs to know that he's loved not less. Try to pet him first, give him food first. Maybe organize new sleeping spot for kitten near older cat's spot. I'd advise to intervene only when there's a serious fight starting.
>>3049799>>3049799>Try to pet him first, give him food firstI already do that. And honestly they go along very well: they don't fight, and they play together. But the older cat seems to want to be the one in charge, as he initiates a lot of that "dominance wrestling" cats do.
No one’s contacted me about this cat but over the last day I found out he’s definitely housetrained and likes going outside. I let him stay out of the bathroom last night and he didn’t do anything too weird or pee everywhere. He also loves playing with softballs and crumpled paper, which is good because I don’t have any cat toys.
>>3049807They're both very cute! What're their names?
>>3044808Hmm :thinkface:my cat has no problem when i touch his feetmaybe form a stronger bond with your feline
My cat likes going outsideso far i have witness him killing mice (which is a good thing)Im wondering when he'll start catching rabbits? (I have some that linger in my yard)
>>3044698Do cats feel physical pleasure from being pet and rubbing on you? My cat is so aggressive with it sometimes, driving his face into my hand or against my chin.
>>3049931Old one is Mousse ("Foam" in French): 33% fluff, 33% cuddles, 33% fat and 0.0% brains.Young one is Poudre ("Powder") and he's pretty much a saint.
pls r8 my catShe is very sweet and affectionate.
>>3050045adorable Kitler, would genocide rodents with.
>>3050039> 33% fluff, 33% cuddles, 33% fat and 0.0% brains.Sounds like your average frenchman.
>>3050060I wish I was that fluffy and cuddly.
>>3049369>>3049581should I just take away the dry food completely?they always take forever to eat their soft food as is and constantly try to eat off each other's plates
does licking equal kissing to cats? I know about the whole eye blink thing but I like some physical expression of it.
>>3044698How worried should I be about hot weather? A 2-day heat wave ends today, when I got home an hour ago it was 102 indoors and had probably been 95+ for about 5 hours. 15 yr old kitty (pic related) was walking a little wobbly when I first got in, fed him a cold wet treat which he gobbled down. He's lazing on the ground and breathing steadily now, it picks up when he moves around but no panting. He's not interested in ice or regular water but I've been petting him with wet hands. I'm going to have to get a window AC unit before the next heat wave, just wondering if anyone has experience with this in the meantime. I'm hoping he's just feeling lazy but worried about dehydration or other issues (his kidney/liver scan came back healthy a couple months ago).
>>3045187He's establishing dominance. You're his bitch now
>>3046431Take them for a walk instead you lazy bum
>>3046500Catch him, neuter him and give him home. Killing is not a good solution
how do I know if my cat really, actually loves me
I think I may need to consign my cat back to the shelter. I've had her for a year and a half, and since I got her every couple weeks she'll pee outside of the litterbox and ruin something. It can be on the floor, my bed, the couch, or even clothes. I live in a 3 room apartment with 2 litter boxes. I've tried different foods. I give her plenty of attention every day. I've consulted two vets countless times and they couldn't find any health or environmental causes for the behavior.I think this weekend when my friend visited me and the cat peed on the inflatable mattress once, then a second time after I cleaned everything, was the tipping point. I realized these incidents aren't flukes or normal cat behavior, they're a pattern that I haven't been able to make a dent in after over a year. I don't think there's anything left I can try, and I realized I can't keep living like this.I love my cat. She's so sweet and docile and loves belly rubs. But the realization that this isn't sustainable and I have no other options for fixing it is tearing me apart.
>>3050455something must be stressing her, like the friend visiting. Cats very much creatures of habit and some very fickle to any disruptions of the routine
>>3050455How often do you change her litter? Be honest
>>3050359The internal body temperature of house cats is naturally 102 to 104 degrees F, and they evolved from their ancestors who are desert dwelling animals. I'm mean you don't want your cat roasting in your house but they can handle heat fairly well relatively speaking.
>>3050460I hardly ever have guests, and she'll pee on things regardless of whether there is one or not. In fact, she's happy to walk near guests and get pet by them soon after they arrive. The vets and I couldn't think of any other potential stressors in my apartment.>>3050463Literally every day; it isn't hard. Usually when she pees on something I'll notice that the litter box was untouched since the last time I cleaned it.
>>3050455>>3050460Sometimes the stressing thing isn't something you can locate or fix, so searching for a different home might not be a bad idea.I know of some cases where cats that had litterbox issues stopped these in a new home and nobody ever found out why.
>>3050454if it headbumps your face when you sleep or jumps on your belly and starts kneading it
>>3049843The owner of the cat came to my work last night after someone told him about the posters. The cat’s name is Oliver and he stays inside of a business down the street, but he went outside and walked off too far on Saturday. I dropped him off this morning and if he gets lost again I know where to bring him
Do certain types of cat food make your cat's claws grow? My cats front claws get really long and thick over time, so much that they have punctured her pawpads in the past.
>>3050928is she an older cat? Sometimes as they get older they don't trump their claws often enough so they grow inwards. For like two years before she died I had to trim her claws when before I never had to do it.
>>3050931No, she's only 6, and she's had this problem ever since we brought her home in 2014
>>3049581I guess I'm a dumbass I never would have thought something so simple to make would be such a hit.
>>3050928>>3050972some cats just have a really low scratch drive. you're probably going to have to trim your cat's nails, assuming you already have scratching posts she's not using.
>>3051043if they're really close to being ingrown then I'd have a vet-tech do it. I had to do that the first time, then I could keep them trimmed afterward.
Vietnamese here. So i want to talk about something.I have female cat at home. So when i came home and i start to pet her and suddenly she bite my hand and growl at me.She never bite me before well expect one time taking a bath.
>>3051082>VietnameseI'm surprised you haven't eaten her already
>>3051095That very offensive you know that right?
>>3051129Yes I know that
>>3050487That's reassuring, thank you. I just worry about the sweet old boy when he acts strange.
So I guess I have a kitten now. My brother adopted him and realized a second cat and a baby is too much. He’s around 6 weeks old I think. I brought him home and he seems comfortable, but when he met my 17 year old cat he got scared and started hissing after they touched noses. The kitten got along fine with my brothers cat, whose like 3. Any tips for getting them used to each other or just general advice? I haven’t had a kitten since I was 6 years old.
>Just spent $1500 to pull some more of my cat's teeth.>Turns out stomatitis was a misdiagnosis and I've been giving him steroid shots for nothing.>Bloodwork also indicated Stage 2 renal failure despite bloodwork in February showing nothing. Probably thanks to the fucking steroids.I've thrown like $5k at this moron. Now I can waste some more on specialty foods.
>>3046500There is no issue that cannot be solved by land mines. Just putting it out there.
how do i stop my kitten from biting every single item she can find? (she has her toys, but that doesn't stop her)
My cat's back is so sensitive I can't even give her a full body pet without her twitching like crazy. Is there any way to lessen this?
Found a malnourished, and cigarette smelling Maine Cat today. Took her in and now currently caring for the little one that looks to be around 4-5 months old I think. Any tips on taking care of one of these? and are they really the biggest cat breed in the world? I already bought the litter box, bed, toys, and food so kinda late to regret anything, but help me out here.
>>3051520>6 weeks oldI hope not. That'd be like 6 weeks too early and it would be best to give him back to his family.Almost every new cat/home causes territorial issues at first and they need time to get used to each other. Young ones usually get along quickly since they love to play a lot and bond easily that way. With a Kitten and a 17 year old cat its likely they won't get along as soon as the little one starts to play more rough since it will annoy or even scare the hell out of the old one if the senior isn't a total chad.>>3051528You don't have to buy special food, just high quality one and give phosphate binders. >>3049351>>3051668Leave some wet food out all the time and only use limited dry food for snacktime if the weight allows it. If you don't use plastic plates it won't go bad in just half a day.>>3051623Toddler issues, it'll stop after a while. Give her things to chew on that are similar to or better to chew than what she's using. Doesn't hae to be cat toys, try whatever, maybe toddler biting rings.>>3051671Cute little fucker.Let it eat as much quality cat food as it wants at least until it's fully grown, yes they tend to grow a lot and eat a shitload and hungry cats get cranky. Also gently make it used to combing or brushing its fur if it isn't yet.
>>3051707>Leave some wet food out all the timeYou can't leave wet food for more than 2-3 hours, especially in summer time, it'll most likely spoil and cat can get sick.
>>3051082Alright took a little while a reason why she bite me. I pet this one at my work place.
>>3051671what makes you think he's a maine coon? He looks cute, unlike those retarded freaks. Best I can do is take him to the vet for a check up and feed him quality food
>>3051671Update on her right hereShe's CRAZY playful like she always comes and cuddles when you call her. She didn't really let me get much sleep cause she was just huddling all night. Won't even stop playing with her toys once we start either she's that into it. So far she knows where the litter box is, she knows her feeding station, but she's a bit reluctant to really stay there for long since all she wants to do is explore when I'm doing something else. I heard from my aunt she is a maine coon, but she could also be one of those norwegian wood cats or something? they tend to look super similar or so I'm told. That'd be super funny since I'm part norwegian myself.
>>3051528>misdiagnosisFuck vets. Seriously
>>3050455Have you tried spraying your home with that stuff that soothes cats? Its some kind of pheramone
>>3045187He wants to play more. My cat does this for the same reason
>>3051767It's likely a Cat™ brand cat: Longhair Edition. Enjoy your Cat™ and don't focus overmuch on "breed".
>>3051767cat has no breed without documents, she can be a phenotype of breed tho
>>3051767>they tend to look super similarno, they don't
>>3050455I really feel for you.Is your cat declawed? I’ve heard the trauma from that can make them litter averse and hurt their paws when they walk on it.Spayed/neutered?And have you tried different litters as well? These questions probably all seem really obvious - but I am just trying to help. I really hope this works out somehow. I do not know what I would do here, it would tear me in half.
>>3050872I’m glad to hear Oliver got back home. Thank you for taking good care of him while he was lost.
How do I get my cat to stop being so picky with her toys? I've bought her so many but she only likes lights and lazers>>3051671Have you given her a name yet?
>>3051707I just looked at pictures and he’s definitely older than 6. My older cat doesn’t act agressive, but he stands his ground and doesn’t like to play. It’s a shame because he got along well with my brother’s cat.
>>3051837I appreciate the sympathy. She wasn't declawed, she's spayed, and different litter types/brands didn't affect this one way or the other. She also has suffered from persistent rodent ulcers (cysts/lesions around and in her mouth) since I've had her. When it flares up, it's ugly, but more importantly it must have been very painful because she would stop eating for days and I'd have to take her to the vet for a steroid shot to force faster healing. For this, too, I tried everything. Clean, metal food/water bowls. Had her on special hypoallergenic food for over 3 months with no difference. Even paid $300 for a blood test to look for any potential known allergies so we could maybe move forward with a special treatment plan to build up a resistance to any positive-tested allergens... But this very same weekend, the vet called me back to tell me that the blood test didn't find any known allergens to work with, so the only potential treatment left would be expensive immunosuppressants forever that wouldn't even fully fix the issue. Even with this health problem, it seems most ethical to find her another home that isn't poison to her. The only variable left I can try to remove from her life... is me.I at least have come to terms with the fact that I've done everything I possibly could for either problem, and that I can't possibly keep her unless BOTH were mitigated. There's a decent chance that her next home will be one where the environment isn't poisoning her nor subtly causing her stress to pee on things. But it still hurts. I'm going to miss her.
>>3051944Weirdly this reminded me of when I used to volunteer at an animal shelter around my area (it shut down sadly). There was this older lady who had to give up her older cat since the place she moved into didn't allow pets. She would come in every three days or so to see her cat and cuddle it, and she would always cry when she had to put it back in it's cage and leave. It was really fucking depressing to watch.
>>3051944That sucks so bad man. I really wish I knew how to advise you or had some magic formula that would help.>>3051951Aw FUCK. That hit me right in the feels. That shit is so totally not ok.I wish so bad I could fix stuff like this.
>>3051965>That shit is so totally not ok.I just find it stupid that some places don't allow small pets like cats. My guess is that the lady was moving to some community living shit that didn't allow animals
>>3050487If your cat ever temps at 104 degrees, you better hope your ass is already in the car driving it to the vet. Normal cat temperature is 100-102.9F. Some vets consider the maximum acceptable temp to be even lower, 102.5F.>>3051528>stomatitis>misdiagnosisHow in the unholy hell could a vet be this incompetent? It's one of the most distinctive conditions out there.>>3051951That is the saddest shit I've heard in my life. Reminds me of:>about to walk into appointment one day>description says cat has sores on ears - ok, likely allergies or ear infection/mites, easy>enter room to find old woman weeping with sweet cat furiously rubbing all over her>cautiously ask why she's upset>this is her first time seeing the cat in half a year>had to give him up to move into assisted living>has mobility issues, but managed to bring him in that day because new owner wouldn't>asks for a brush so she can groom him while waiting for doctorWish I could have taken him myself. I'd be willing to swing by an old folk's home every 1-2 weeks to visit.
at what number is too many cats /kot/? My mother has nine, they are well taken cared of, house is clean, they get vet care if they get sick but I know she won't be able to do it forever. I live a state away now I so I can't be a day to day help. Oldest one is 10 years old so it'll probably be a while before she loses one of them to natural causes.
>>3052422You got one cat first, then you got him a buddy, after 3 it doesn't really matter anymore
>>3052422It's too many as soon as the owner can't take care of them properly anymore, so any number from 1 on can be the tipping point.Just make sure to check on her and help her get help if it starts to get too much.
>>3052417The dentist said it's pretty common for people to mix it up with periodontitis when they see the ulcers. Literally they see the ulcers and that's all they think of.
When my cat was yawning I noticed a tiny black spot on her tooth. Should I be concerned? How cats act when they're in pain? Maybe it's food left and I worry for nothing
Cat in a bag. Was delayed for 19 hours yesterday coming home from DC. I was in an absolutely foul mood when I finally got home, just so tired and frustrated, and this guy and his friend (not pictured) greeted me with headbutts, rubbing themselves all over my legs. It made me feel better.
>>3052777You cat got feline panleukopenia
Is it ok to feed a kitten only hard food? He can chew it ok. Should I supplement it with beef or something?
>>3052962Supplement it with water. I wouldn't feed additional meat without bones or eggshell powder, raw boney meat on the other hand is great fun and cleans the teeth.
Guys I want to get a cat, but is bad if I only get one? I want it to have company while I'm out at work/in school or exercising. Is it better if I get two instead?
>>3052976If you can support both cats financially including vet bills then why not.
>>3052965Ok thanks. I’ve been putting water in his food to make sure he drinks enough
>>3052985But for real, would I be a bad owner, if I do not see my cat for 8-12 hours everday? If I only get a single one?
>>3052976If they're younger and you can afford it, get two. Else get an older indoor one which doesn't mind sleeping/loafing around all day.
>>3052990Is it going to be alone at home? Cats can be pretty destructive when bored.
>>3052991>>3052998Yes and no, I have a roomate who tends and we both work odd hours (I'm starting school after summer, so my schedule will likely be opposite his). I will be home during the afternoon till night and he will be home sleeping till early midday. That being said it will be my cat, and mine only. My schedule would properly be something like School: 8 or 9-15Home: 16-17ishExercise:17-18/19Then home again for the rest of the day. Would O be neglecting the cat?
>>3053027Sounds like that would be fine, it all depends on the cat's personality and activity. General rule of thumb is that the older the cat gets the less playtime/attention it requires. If it doesn't work out you can always bring the cat back. It's not like it would instantly be killed off or something.
>>3053037I most likely cant bring it back, as I'm buying a specific type of cat and not from a shelter
>>3053041How does your roommate play into this decision? Is he/she okay with the possibility of being woken in the early morning when the cat is miauwing/climbing on its face to get its breakfast?Do you have enough space for a litterbox, scratching pole etc? My cat for example doesn't like shitting when others are watching. When the time comes, are you ready to cover the medical expenses that the cat might require? Is the cat going to be outdoor or indoor?
>>3053056Roomate is fine with it. He always sleeps with his door closed. And we live in 3 room apartment with more than enough room for a pole, a litter and a bit more
>>3053056And its gonna be a indoor cat. Ive thought about getting a leash though, so we can go for walks
>>3050872love cats with gray footpads desu
I feel pretty gay for petting my male cat because I'm rubbing on another dude. Is this normal?
>>3053166Bro, how can rubbing pussy be gay?
>>3053166There's nothing manlier than petting another animal. The fact that you can so totally dominate another animal is manly enough, but the fact that the animal will let you pet it like a child and enjoy like a submissive woman it cements your place at the top of the food chain. It's the ultimate masculine, heterosexual achievement.
>>3052976It's better to get two if you want a young one and it won't come into a bigger family or similar setting where enough people are around to entertain it.If there aren't much people or those who are there are away for most of the day, playing up to several hours with the cat can quickly become more of an annoying chore than a fun thing (I was fed up with it after two days to be honest). Remember you want to have freetime without the cat as well. In a case like that, two are better because you won't be needed for action playtime and can join in only when you feel like it. They don't have to be from the same litter.
my neutered male cat sometimes holds down the spayed female cat by the scruff of her neck, while she yowls like crazy. Sometimes she'll manage to strike him in which chase they chase each other. My other neutered male cat does not do this and the first male cat does not do it to him. Is this normal dominance behavior or something more?
My cat YOWLS CONSTANTLY. I got him a few months ago so this isn't a new development. His blood work is normal. Vet says his heart and lungs sound good. He's eating, he's active, he's pooping and peeing consistently. No blood in stool. No worms. He has access to dry food and fresh moving water 24/7. Litter boxes cleaned daily. He sleeps with me on my bed. Indoor cat so no way he could get an outside illness. But he still just walks around and YOWLS. He gets AT LEAST 30 min of active play a day with me and I have automatic toys for him too, I keep windows accessible, he can go wherever he wants so no closed doors to upset him, lots of places for him to run around and hide. The shelter was adamant about him being the only cat because other cats were bullying him and my landlord only allows one animal too, so another cat is not an option. I wouldn't mind so much despite being woken up at the crack of dawn sometimes but I am potentially moving in with other people in a few months. One of them has lived with a very talkative cat but the other one is from a quiet house. They are fully aware of how noisy this cat is, but I'm still very nervous. I've tried only giving him attention when he's quiet but he doesn't seem to get the message since he's yowling 90% of the time. Is there a way to train him out of this or is he just always going to be talkative?Pic related: this my cat 90% of the time.
>>3053271he sounds stressed. Just because there are no other cats in the house doesn't mean that he isn't stressed by other cats. A neighbor could have one that he senses or there could be strays outside he sees when he looks out the window.
>>3053271What you describe sounds like what my brother complains about if he takes care of our cat when we're away and she just misses the usual amount of attention despite being an outdoor cat.If he doesn't just meows dramatically but actually does this deep yowling sound https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fY70BDJ5x1M he's calling out for someone.>AT LEAST 30 min of active play a dayHow old is he? A youngster can need way more but in any case I'd try more active social contact, not just playing but also random cuddles and conversations whenever you see him.If that's what he's missing moving in with others could actually help to solve the problem.
Why does my kitten keep trying to play and bite my hands when I just want to pet his fuckin head.
>>3053895I would try to stamp out that behavior now before he becomes a 15 pound murder engine and starts playfully nibbling at your hand with fully developed fangs and jaw muscles.
>>3053897I am, I say HEY and freeze. But he relaxes in my lap and I just wanna scratch and pet him but he wants to fight. I dunno if he just has too much energy at the moment, he's like 10 weeks old and bouncing all over the place when he's awake.
How long does a cats memory last? I took my older cat to the vet for a check up/vaccines/flea work. He started avoiding me after this. He used to chill on my lap and sleep in my room every day but he has been ghosting me for almost three weeks now. I have tried cuddling and playing with him but he just gets away every time.
How often do you guys give your cat wet cat food?
>>3054214Me. So I bought my cat some wet cat food for the first time and she chowed down on it like mad, but I think giving her an entire can of wet cat food was a bad idea. It's a lot and I dont think she can eat it all up in a short amount of time.Should I have given her half and refrigerated the other half for later?
I'm trying to get my cat to sleep on my bed because it's comfy having animal frens with you. But my cat always bites any time I move around my feet or legs while trying to sleep. He also likes to wander around my room and tries to open closets. He does get a lot of playtime though, and I understand that cats are nocturnal. But what are some things I could do so that he does settle down?
>>3054237Dont force the cat to sleep with you or it never will. Maybe bring cat treats to entice your cat to sleep near you
>>3053895>>3053914I'd say play with him but stop and complain loudly if he gets too rough. With only 10 weeks his mother most likely hadn't started teaching him how far he can go with his bullshit so you have to. Since he's a male he will want to playfight a LOT in the next few years so you better teach him to be careful as soon as possible. The strong cuddling and petting phase in a cats life usually comes years later. That energy is normal and healthy for young cats so if you don't have other pets that'll do it for you not playing isn't an option if you want him to get rid of that energy in a good way. Most cats get calmer after about a year.>>3053897Even with fully developed fangs and jaw muscles playful nibbling doesn't hurt as long as the cat (or dog) learned to be careful. >>30542142 to 3 times a day>>3054222If you don't live in super hot conditions you won't need to refrigerate it, just put a lid on the can. I buy bigger cans so they are unrefrigerated for 2 days and I never had one go bad.Btw I think they can eat more wet than dry without issues since it's already soaked up with fluids and therefore won't increase in volume after eating, still it's recommended to give several smaller servings instead of a big one because that's more like their natural feeding pattern.
>>3054281I play with him with a toy mouse that I make him chase and eventually catch, but I don't want him to play with my hands. I also have some other stuff he plays with on his own.I'm gonna start letting him outside when he's 6 months, so whatever's out there is gonna keep him entertained then.
>>30542142 times a day, 1 portion is about 30-50g, it's usually half or third of the whole can. I pour a little bit of water additionally into wet food. If she feels eating more she has dry food there at all times.
How often do you guys replace all the sand in the litter box?
Took my boy to the vet today for his shots. His cries on the way broke my heart.
>>3054005Cats are easy to win over with food, treats and play.Make sure you're not letting him graze, give him treats just for fun every once in a while, and play with him often. He'll be chilling with you in no time.
>>3054237Whenever my cat would bite my legs I'd kick him until he stopped. Bed is for sleeping, not playing. He'd normally jump off and leave after that. Eventually he stopped doing that and just jumps up and naps with me every now and then. At the end of the day you can't force him to sleep in your bed, though, like the other anon said.
Vet just called me, results are very bad and kidneys are compromised.
>>3054588I don't anymore since I realized the company that produced my favourite litter changed the recipe and I haven't found another brand even close in quality yet. I have one bag of this grey gold left and I won't waste a bit of it.Since my cat prefers to use my garden as a toilet and only uses the litterbox every now and then I hope it'll last another few years.Litter recommendations welcome. I want it to not dust and clump perfectly and firm so there will no tiny crumbs of soaked up pee be left that I can't get out without a sieve.
Is it normal my kitten yells at me until I pick him up? Not like meowing but actual yellingI thought they hated itPic is the little bugger
>>3053474Damn, that sounds exactly like my cat. I hear him through the door sometimes when I just get home, he has a deep throaty yowl. I was afraid his chatty nature was pain yowl since that's what google says, but since all of his tests came back normal and the vet says his heart and lungs sound good I'm less inclined to think that. He's about 3 or so, so he's an adult, but the shelter has no real idea. Someone just left him there in a crate. Maybe past trauma is contributing to his underlying anxiety. I'll make it a point to talk to him more to let him know where I am. He seems to yowl more when he's in a different room than me for awhile. If the yowling still continues I'll take him into the vet again.
>>3054672I'm so fucking sorry dude. Anything you can do?
I think my cat ate part of a rubber bandwhat do I do
>>3054892I don't think your cat would eat a rubberband, but if he did I wouldn't be too scared. Cats are hard to kill, they don't say "cats have nine lives" for nothing
>>3054214Each cat gets 1/4 can + kibble for breakfast and dinner.>>3054588Once monthly.>>3054672Sorry, anon. Sometimes kidney failure can be managed with diet and subcutaneous fluids, but if the levels are too high it might just be his time.>>3054791Well-socialized cats may really like being held. My family has a cat that will stand up on his hind legs and paw at your thigh begging to be picked up, and one of mine gets so excited when I come home that she'll actually leap into my arms.>>3054881Yes, this is the cat "where are you?" yowl. The popular image of cats is that they're solitary hunters that don't give a shit about anyone else, but in reality they may develop separation anxiety just like dogs. https://www.catbehaviorassociates.com/separation-anxiety-in-cats/One of the cats I grew up with was VERY bonded to me and was always at my side. When I graduated, I went overseas for 6 weeks to celebrate, and my mom told me over the phone that she kept sitting on my bed and crying for me. I thought she was exaggerating until I got home and would hear her doing it if I spent a long time quietly in the bathroom or something. She also would walk around the house yowling for a while after her sister died - they were very close. If the yowling keeps up even after you move in with more people, talk to your vet about fluoxetine.>>3054892It will probably pass normally. Pay attention to the litterbox when you're scooping and look for it.Symptoms of foreign bodies needing veterinary attention: repetitive vomiting, inability to keep food/water down, inappetence, lethargy, painful abdomen, inability to pass stool (or only passing small amounts of diarrhea)
>>3054788I recommend you don't let your cat outside.
>tfw didn’t know about cat nutrition until very recently since last cats lived to 15+ on meow mix>tfw family cat is the best cat in the world, bottlefed on day 1 by middle school me, with poofy non-shedding, non-matting fur, and a super friendly personality that loves belly rubs>he turned 11>he doesn’t act different but my mom says she thinks his fur feels “older”>he grew an ugly hairless cyst thing on his chin last year (but the vet said it was nothing worrisome)>I notice his breath stinks now and there is a lump under the skin in his neck >fuck, my little boy is getting old >afraid I prematurely aged him by not researching and letting the family continue to buy meow mix and a Walmart wet food I forget the name of I’m gonna try to move his vet visit from September to sooner for the lump. But I love him so much and I’m leaving for Japan for work, I’m going to send money home and tell my mom what food to buy with it. I’m scared shitless I fucked his health over from 11 years of crap. I’m so sorry Hermie. Idk how I’ll live there without you.
You guys, I feel so honored. The little feral kitty I've been feeding for the past year and a half finally trusted me enough to let me pet her last night. She trotted over to me, let me sit right next to her while she ate, and then when she was done, she walked along next to me for half a block. The one bad part of all this is that I just finished grad school and have only had a real job for a couple weeks, so catching the kitty and sharing my apartment with her isn't a viable option for a few months (because my first move would be to bring her to the vet and I don't have money for that).I hope she's still around at the end of the summer so I can trap her then. I live far out in Brooklyn so it's not like the streets are super busy, but there's still cars and assholes with aggressive pitbulls.>>3055120Oh, he's beautiful! I hope your sweet boy has many years left ahead of him. What a fluffy guy!
>>3051671Norwegian Forest Cats are even bigger than Maine Coons, so if she gets crazy fucking huge that's how you'll know.Yours looks a lot like my old kitty. My Maine Coon was not a typical one though, she was a runt and had apparently been left to die so she never got to full size even though she lived to be 13, and was really terrified of everything unfamiliar to her. They tend to be playful and really active, and a lot of them enjoy doing "doglike" stuff like playing fetch. (Even my girl did that. We made a few rag balls for her to play with and she loved them, it was so funny to see her carrying something almost the size of her head.)
>>3054881>He seems to yowl more when he's in a different room than me for awhile. That really sounds like he has problems with fearing being abandoned. Maybe hearing, too? I'm used to quick yowls if they want to check were I am but they stop after I answer.>>3054991>The popular image of cats is that they're solitary hunters that don't give a shit about anyone else, but in reality they may develop separation anxiety just like dogsI guess the problem is that the cat kind of social behaviour often isn't as close as dogs. Even cats that only greet each other and spend the rest of the day chilling feets apart can badly miss that company despite never really interacting. Same with humans, some cats aren't really cuddly or playful but seem to enjoy the quiet company of someone in the same room.>>3055120I don't know meow mix but I guess if it's low quality food it might be low on taurine and meat protein so I'd make sure he now gets enough of those. I'd check his kidneys too, cats tend to have problems with those and you want to catch it early.
>>3054883He suddenly stopped responding to stimulus, lost all energy and could barely walk. The vet examined him yesterday, did extra exams to confirm or infirm if it was kidneys + iv hydration and warming blanket. She called me this morning, explained me how the urea and stone thing happened and how it differed from other ailments and why we couldn't see it earlier. Died during the night, I'm kinda glad he showed no pain and was active until yesterday. Rest in peace chubby old man those were 13 good years.
god i wish i had a cat so bad
Just found a cat yesterday. What should I do with it?
>>3055354Check of he has a collar, that means he belongs to someone. Otherwise I'd just let him be unless he's in immediate danger.>>3054912Yeah he's a gonner. His friend miss him and looked for him around the house, the other one doesn't give a shit. I'll try to keep things as they were so they don't mourn him too long.
How to make kot to love his new cat house? I spent 50$ on it, and he profoundly ignores it
>>3055354>>3055495>Check of he has a collar, that means he belongs to someone. Also tattoo and chip. But all of that can turn out to be outdated information as well.
>>3055525It worked! At least, he entered there.
>>3055590Catnip pretty much universally makes cats love anything.
>>3044698What’s a good cat to get if I want one that doesn’t shed as much as others and produces little dander? I don’t want a blad cat.
Got a question about outdoor cat liability.I have a cat who spends roughly half the day outside, depending on weather. He doesn't go far, most of the time he just likes to lie down and soak in the sun on my stoop. Thing is, I have a neighbor with kids too young to know any better, and just a bit ago I heard a yelp outside. I look out the window and a little boy is running off and my cat is cowering in a corner next to my stoop. The kid came running back with a smile on his face (not malicious or anything, just a kid playing around), so I don't think my cat did anything more than hiss at him. Still, I'm concerned about the legal issues. Doing some research, it sounds like cats and their owners aren't usually found liable if the cat bites someone, especially in self-defense and on the owner's property. However, none of the things I read mention children, which laws typically protect above all.So what can I do? I think I've dodged a bullet for now, but if this kid keeps fucking with my cat when it's outside, my cat may hold its ground rather than run and eventually bite the kid, and I cannot afford a lawsuit if it comes to that. My cat is not violent, but he is timid around others.Does anyone have hard information on outdoor cats and children? Would I be liable if my neighbor's kid gets bitten, or would his parents be at fault for not supervising their kid?Pic related, it's where I live.
>>3055505Kots seem to go through phases. Sometimes mine spends every available moment in his catbed, then he'll go months without using it, then come back to it again.
>>3055649Talk about your worries with the parents. In the best case you can invite the family over, let the kids give kot some snacks and show them how to treat a cat and how to know she feels comfortable with what you do. So kid and cat get to know each other better, you can bond a little with the parents and maybe even recruit great cat sitters.
What do you guys do about dental health? My cat hates the toothpaste I've bought for him. I've seen water additive and dental treats at the store. Are these effective and safe?
>take in stray two weeks ago>she likes me but hides most of the day>chills on the couch when she not>have to board her this week>tfw i feel like im breaking her heart
>>3055794My cat looks at me with a face of betrayed terror every time I get the broom to sweep the floor. Cats are very easily mortified. That said, they bounce back just as fast and become your affectionate snuggle buddy again. Your cat will be sad to see you go, but will be just fine when you get back.
Got this lil' nigga today, she was 2 and a half months, god I fucking love her.
>>3055823flipped ur pic
>>3055630Rex, but don't expect real hypoallergenic.
>>3044698this is my cat. please be quiet and do not wake him.
>>3055823Aww, what's her name?
>>3055649Update his rabies vaccine immediately, and keep it up to date.
>>3055750http://www.vohc.org/all_accepted_products.htmlHonestly, rather than stress the cat and myself, I just plan to get their teeth professionally cleaned at the vet's every 5 years or so.
>>3044698hey /an/ storytime>just stumbled upon some old VHS tapes in my basement one of them was labeled "Cats on TV" >I pop it in and hit play, bunch of old news footage from late 1990s> finally cat comes onto tv, its not my cat but its the mother of my cat>find out mom cat was abandoned at 6 months, pregnant at 10 months.>mothered 4 kittens, 2 girls, 2 boys> we got 2 girls> grew up with both cats as a kid, I was around 4-5 years old when I got herone ran away in the early 2000s when we were getting housework done. the other stayed with us till death, she recently passed after 19 years of life.I'm honestly in tears now, wish I was a better owner to her. feel awful that shes gone now, she deserved a nicer kid.
>>3046552my cats have one of those things but it is literally 20 times the size and permanent i will post pics tomorrow
>>3055271That's so sweet, anon! I hope things go well with your kitty fren when you come back from Japan
>>3055662This is so obvious and reasonable it didn’t even occur to me. I hope the poster does this.
I left my kot with my mom for some days now she doesn't want to eat her food, what do? Looks like she was stealing food from the dog, and doesn't want her stuff anymore. That's the second day she doesn't eat anything, she gets all excited when I put food in her bowl, but never eats it. She keeps meowing all the time, I have no idea what I'm supposed to do.
>>3055649Stop letting your cat outside.
>>3050016Do you feel physical pleasure when someone you like strokes you?
>>3055630I have a Siamese and I never had to brush him or anything like that.
>>3056460I honestly wouldn't know.
>>3044698my kitty freaks out if I try to put any sort of blanket or him. It sucks man I have to basically throw them off the bed if he wants to cuddle at night
>>3056769try building a tent or cavelike structure with the blanket. my cat always checks it out and sometimes curls up inside and isn't bothered when the structure collapses on him.
>>3050180Your kots are a treasure
Is getting two kittens more beneficial than one? I saw a sign at the shelter that said getting two kittens causes less behavior issues, gets them to not be bored, etc. Idk if they’re just trying to sell more cats though. Anyways, if I get two does it matter if they’re from the same litters? Or can I get two different kittens and they’ll bond the same? Also do kittens get sad when seperated from their shelter friends/family
>>3056819if you plan on keeping them indoors they can keep each other company when noone is at home. if one bullies the other it can cause mental problems though. best option would be adopting two from same shelter that are known to get along fine.if you just want one maybe get an oldfag, they are usually more chill than young cats, though experiencing the different stages of the cat lifecycle is very rewarding yet exhausting during the early years.i always had single cats that are allowed outside. i live in a rural area with lots of outdoor cats. my 12yo had a buddy from the neighborhood that came to visit often. sadly he died of leukemia and now mine is the only one his age in this area. i sometimes see him interact with other cats, but not as much as with his old buddy.
>>3055652This is my experience too. They go thru phases like us.
>>3056840>my 12yo had a buddy from the neighborhood that came to visit often. sadly he died of leukemiaPlease tell me your cat is vaccinated and/or you were smart enough to get him tested after interacting with his buddy.
>>3057125Nigga, leukemia is blood cancer. Not contagious at all.
>>3057146Not in cats...
>>3056819Yes, expecially kittens need a shitload of active play in the first year or so and expecially if you don't have a family to share the playtime with it can quickly get exhausting and annoying. If the cat doesn't get enough playtime it might resort to destructive behaviour or, playfully but rough, attacking humans which often ends with them being returned to the shelter as a grown 'problematic' cat the shelter then has poblems finding a home for. With a playmate cats and owners are less stressed.Of course they also want to adopt more cats away in longterm homes so they can take others in.>does it matter if they’re from the same litters? It doesn't matter much with kittens since they all want to play a lot and bond easily, they should be around the same age so they can play with each other without one overpowering the other too much and same sex pairs tend to get along better later in life since they usually play more similar. If the cats are already somewhat older I'd recommend to adopt two that are already friends.>do kittens get sad when seperated from their shelter friends/familyIf they already had that one best buddy there, they might for a bit or just miss the constnt present of others in general. If you get two they will get over it fast and feel safer in the new environment.
here's my kot. his name's lynx and he's pretty cute
>>3055649Use a Wal-Mart™ Recreational Nuke to irradiate your neighbor's house for violating the NAP.
>>3056456Try some tuna water or baked chicken bits. I assure you she won't say no to that if she's healthy. If not, vet. That said, it's not uncommon to have eating issues for a couple of days after a change of environment or extended time away.
>>3057169You are right, my bad
>>3051727Did she start biting abruptly one day or has she been doing this for a a longer duration? If this isn't normal behavior for her, she may be feeling ill somehow which might require a need to take her in to the vet.
