Why are good romance anime so rare?
They require at least a marginal understanding of human interaction to write.
>>183223008Where the fuck is Toradora! In that pic?
>Why a country that sucks in relationships can't portrait a good relationshipgee i wonder
is this bait?
>>183223107Taiga a shit
The best romance anime are the ones where romance isn't the primary aspect. A good example of this is Bakemonogatari.
You disappoint me OP. Your tastes are pretty bad man.
>>183223008>I started watching anime 2 years ago: the list
Literally just finished this for the first time. I really liked it.
>>183223008>just because >goodWorst girl won and best girl suffered and im still mad
>>183223266i thought it was gay footfag trash
>>183223008Behold, the best romance anime.Wich is kinda sad actually
>>183223284good for you
Because japanese values are garbage and completely different from western countries', so what makes a good romance to them doesn't necessarily mean a good romance to 'us'Their entire culture revolves around repressing your feelings and individuality to preserve your honor and hide your shamelessness, thus the second someone even mumbles an 'I love you!' it gets blown out of proportion (from our perspective)How can you expect them to understand romance?
>>183223301Including Anno-directed works in any list is kind of unfair desu
>>183223008>he didn't watch the loli maid show last seasonsuper romantic
>>183223266You can't be serious, this is one of the most forced drama shit i have ever seen in my life.
>>183223008There's only one good romance on your list. The rest are aggressively bad.
>>183223107It's extremely overrated
>>183223498not an argument but ok cool.
>>183223521So we have a Takao who is a student that loves designing shoes, one rainy day he mets Yukino in a garden and without even talking he decides to start skipping classes and going to met her without saying even a word to her. They eventually start a conversation and start getting along. Then we know Yukino is woman that finds herself lost/incomplete in life (we don't know why desu but she is clearly sad and frustrated) then by art of magic she ends up being one of the school teachers of Takao, yes, even ALL the students in that school knew her except for him, yes, the same school. What is up next is more forced drama of him telling her DAISUKI and she rejecting him but then WOW she suddenly realises and goes after him like every fucking cliche movie ever but WAIT he is still there and he now starts giving a monologue about his failure in life and saying he hates her? By this point the forced drama cringle was too much to handle but then Yukino jumps into his arms and starts crying. The end
>>183223562So you described the movie half assedly in a negative tone simply because you didn't like it. Less an argument than what you said last time. But ok cool.
>>183223565but that's not this.
>>183223614>describes plot while pointing out how forced and nonsense every single part of it was>durr no argumentLook, i tried to make it easy, i think even a 12 year old could see how forced that shit was, i almost feel bad for the animators who had to work on that.
>>183223720>>183223745>>183223775>>183223797Based mentally ill shitposter.
>>183223909Took you that long to resort to a nothing post? I enjoyed it, you didn't. Now post something you thought was a good romance anime. At least make an effort to say>I didn't like it much because reasons, try this anime>post it
>>183223301Wait, this that shoujo directed by Anno, right? Anyway, this series is incomplete in relation to the manga, right?
>>183223689Kuzu no Konhai. Desconstruction of love dodecahedron. It is like school days without the deaths
I guess the best romances it are the ones that balance normal emotions and reactions without forcing too much drama. Specially if is adults. Teenagers being dumb is normal. Everyone has a quota of dumb shit when teenager. It is just that Japanese exaggerates that to sex offender levels and retarded actions.
>>183224005Well even tho it was forced and i didn't like it wasn't as nonsense as "Kumo no Mukou, Yakusoku no Basho", that shit is beyond words. For me Tsuki ga Kirei is definitely a great love story. Re Life has a nice love story too but it isn't only focused on that, same with Plastic Memories (even this show has a lot of flaws)ef: A Tale of Memories is considered to be really good too, for me it's average/good. Golden Time/Kimi no Iru Machi started good for me but ended up being a total disaster.
>>183223008if you think those are good, you should get laid
>>183224320>anon should get laidmore news at 11
>>183223565>>183223720I should add these to the pic, good taste senpaitachi
>>183224248>Tsuki ga KireiI'll give it a watch thanks.
>>183223110XD japan is so gay lmao
I just like 80's anime romance. Everyone were not so retarded back then.
Why is Romance manga almost always superior to romance anime?
>>183223663I can't help but read them subs in hulk Hogan's voice.
>>183223008>Just Because>GoodFuck no son
>>183224084its better than the mange tbhfamalam
>>183223110yeah I'm sure that you have been living on Japan for decades to reach that conclusion
I don't even understand what's supposed to be a "good" romance, if it makes my heart go doki doki then I'm ok with it
>the greatest romance in Japanese media history
>>183225296you don't have to be a weeaboo to know that making wild statements about an entire country you know nothing about aside from cartoons and Vice articles is just plain retarded
>>183225424Not him, but I've actually lived in Japan for years, and he's not too far off the mark. They're incredibly repressed and cold, distant people compared to a lot of other countries on average. And remember, pretending otherwise based on information you get second hand from the internet despite having no real experience makes you the idiot.
>>183225424You do have to be a turbo weebo to not think that the majority of Japan has a problem when it comes to personal relationships specially love affairs, it's part of their culture.
>>183225485Any baka gaijin that has stayed at least a year in Japan can sense this, Japanese people even have problems when it comes to just friendships, it's so cold and formal, even among young students, it's miles away from how it's portrated in their cartoons.
>>183225505>You do have to be a turbo weebo to not think that the majority of Japan has a problem when it comes to personal relationshipsno, I'm simply not ignorant enough to make statements about cultures I'm not familiar with aside from pop culture.
>>183225590I have a few really good friends who I talk to very frequently and don't have to walk on eggshells around, which is nice, but even with them the idea of simply hanging out at someone's house and watching TV is a crazy concept. The younger ones at least have self awareness, which makes talking to them about stuff easier.
>>183223775>>183223720I was hoping someone else on /a/ was watching this. I want more, but good romance is so hard to find I don't know where to turn. I want some soft /u/ content.Even though the tall girl keeps doin a sexual assault.
>>183223301It's mediocre. Not even in top 10 best romances.
>>183223008Because they don't have much experience with romance or relationships.>>183224405>>183225092Pic related. People in healthy relationships don't torrent porn.
>>183225705>but even with them the idea of simply hanging out at someone's house and watching TV is a crazy concept.Yup, fucking this, It's insane but for them the fact of just picking the phone and call a friend to hang out it's unthinkable, they will just hold you and give you an appointment for the next week. "Want to hag out tonight?. Uhh let me see i think im free the next tuesday at 8PM"
>>183225828"I feel really bad, i want to meet and have a chat, are you free?. Yeah sure lets meet next week on friday at the bar"
>>183223266this would be a masterpiece if the characters never spoke.
>>183223189so is yours
>>183223266Will this make me cry if Your kino. made me cry?
>>183223107It may not be in the pic but it's in my heart.
>>183223008Shit writers, but more fundamentally, I think it's very hard to write a pure romance to be ~12 episodes (or more). 1 - 2 hours a perfect amount of time to show the plot of boy and girl meet, get to know each other, and eventually reveal they both like each other. How do you pad that out for another 4 hours? Most romance anime boil down to episode 1: boy and girl meet, 2 - 11: they get to know each other, 12: they confess. The plot is poorly weighted, and the episodic nature of anime is purely a negative. This is why most memorable anime romances happen as a side plot to other happenings.
>>183225828I've heard about the rescheduling thing, but never actually dealt with it before. Funny enough, I just talked to a friend today who didn't want to see a movie when I asked him to, but then got mad at me for not inviting him out to dinner with friends visiting from outside the country. Trying to figure out what things people do or don't want to talk along to is tough.
>>183223178This also Haruhi.
>>183223301Goddammit I'm still mad over the ending
>>183223663>Gets together with Mugi in the sequel seriesWhat was the point of that ending then
>>183223008>Just BecauseYeah no
>>183223008Only remotely good in that list is 5 cm per second. Hits home so hard.
>>183225917>I watched 3 titles i know everything about romance
Good romance are rare but not only in anime, even in western movies or tv series you struggle finding a good one.Its just something hard to write no matter how much experience you might have had.
>>183225886I actually also just finished that now. I had Your Name for a long time but never watched it on disc, but found out about Garden and watched it first since they are connected.Your name is better but the character's from Garden of words make appearances in Your Name. The guy is hardest to spot but the girl is on the nose. Both are great but YN had a longer thus more fleshed out story.
>>183223107>>183223150>>183223516>I can't understand nuance in characters and the show is popular so it's shitbased
One of the best romance I've ever watched is actually GiTS SAC 2nd Gig.The ending though.
>>183223008Watch some gay shit. There is probably more effort put in faggotty relationships than in most straight romance anime.
>>183223008>just becausenot with that ending
>>183225815>Color changes in every graph so you can't compare themwhat a fucking retarded graph
>>1832230085 centi is fucking shit romance though.
>>183223506Which one, anon?
>>183223008The only anime with good romance is S&W, and maybe bake. Or perhaps i just have a boner for good dialogue.
>>183223008Because God Katsura said "anime sucks. You can make some out of my shit because I like money, but all the good stuff stays in print"

>>183226115Will Garden of Words make me cry?
>>183228317If you relate with the girl yes, as she is 27 and cripplingly lonely. Same with the kid I suppose as we all know what it feels like to have dreams and fall in love with someone you feel you can't have.
>>183228025Thanks, I’ll check it out
>>183228317Nah. It will makes you relaxed instead. It's quite literally ASMR the anime.
>>183223008>just because>5 cmps>good Wew lad, let me guess you started watching anime two years before?
>5cm>Tsuki ga Kirei>goodLOL
>>183229699You shouldnt have posted an image. You have 0 credibility now.
>>183229746>what are reaction pics>but i am still mad at franxxchads stop calling out my shit tasteYou shouldn't have made this thread in the first place new fag OP kun
>>183229726>X anime>GoodWe could do this all day.
>>183229888>>183229699Unironically Franxx and Bunny Girl can be considered as better romances than anything OP posted even if rest of the show is shit. It might be the only reason anybody even liked those shit. Its as I said previously, most anime romances only work when it is a side plot.
Watch more anime
>>183224540Because the author is less restrained by any sort of middleman meddling unless we're talking about extremely popular titles. For example i can't imagine Taishau Wotome Otogibanashi ever getting anime adaptation simply because it's a straightforward cute romance through and through with no serious relationships drama or shipperfaggotry involved which means it's harder to market and cannot cater to multiple groups of mentally damaged tards who could boost its sales. If kyoanus was ever to adapt it, for example, they will stuff it choke full of yuribaiting or fujobait or some other disgusting shit.
>>183223720>>183223745>>183223775>>183223797>B-But we're both girls! All fucking garbage, kill yourself

>>183230398On the topic of that manga, has anyone gotten around to translating the sequel series?
>>183229800Based twink faggot who wishes they were a girl trying to call other people gay for liking real romance.

>>183230620Yeah that one. At least the raws are accessible for now
This reminds me of one series...
>>183230751Don't forget about that part where he just leaves because of some retarded shit about protecting country.
>>183230802Yeah, that was some serious BULLSHIT.
>>183223008Greatest love story ever told aired recently
>>183223562>What is up next is more forced drama of him telling her DAISUKI and she rejecting him but then WOW she suddenly realises and goes after him like every fucking cliche movie ever but WAIT he is still there and he now starts giving a monologue about his failure in life and saying he hates her?>By this point the forced drama cringle was too much to handle but then Yukino jumps into his arms and starts crying. That's because it was never supposed to be a love story. At least not in the way us westerners think about it.Makoto Shinkai himself it was supposed to be about the traditional meaning of the word 愛. Which is the longing for companionship. Both of them were lonely people that found happiness keeping each other company. But since the kid had no life experience he confused this for romantic love. More than anything, that whole story is a cautionary tale on why relationships with large age gaps are a bad idea.
>>183230871>It's not supposed to be about romance, it's supposed to be about glorifying Japan's obsession with being completely disconnected and repressed emotionally, with a "mature" life lesson about relationshipsAnd as stated previously in the thread, that's why my Japanese romance is complete garbage.
